Just look in your usercard (the thing to the left of your post) and the date will be shown (in your case, its the 29th of may)
In regards to ghost pages, less so with spambots being deleted, but when users delete their account if it replaces their posts with a dummy "Deleted" post. Wouldn't that kind of work?
Woah there, what's with the reasonable, good suggestion?
Yeah, the biggest problem with just deleting posts is that if someone else copied and pasted a portion of a post into a brand new quote box, instead of just using the auto quote functionality, the quoted posted would still be there, just without any name identification. And that happened a lot on the old site - particularly if people wanted to draw attention to a specific part of the other member's post. So, say, if someone was ranting about personal shit, and someone manually quoted a portion, it would still be visible under the system people are proposing. Ex And depending on the thread, the thread could be around personal shit. I'm not the lawyer tough, would have to ask them if you want the most clarified answer.
well, technically the ghost pages are full of ghosts posts, so this isn't really going to help :P
Is it possible to edit thread titles yet?
Just checked. Nope.
Wonder how long this ghost page shit is gonna last.
this was probably mentioned before but I wish clicking notifications took you to the thread instead of just making them go away
until such time when garry feels like working on the forums Currently, he's working on Tub https://twitter.com/garrynewman/status/1031648863663345665
I only just realized that the champagne rating is big whoop; not that I've used it wrong, but seeing it in other posts I thought it was celebratory or something.
I wish The balloon was better
Could I get my name corrected to _Riley? I'd just suck it up and spend the coins but the name is taken, I'm fairly certain it's my other account when the forums switched however I'm pretty sure it's bugged because none of my auth things go to it. Doing @ doesn't work on it either, only shows my own
lol its ruining my life so many ghost pages have been created in older threads after notable oldpunch members deleted their accounts. most of these threads aren't that active since they haven't reached the insanely small bump-limit yet, but I still visit them and it's irritating having to manually edit the URL or click through pages manually if I'm on mobile every time I want to check newer posts. it's doubly annoying knowing that it's going to take months for the real pages to catch up to the ghost pages due to literal pages of posts being deleted with the accounts. posts really should have just been deleted reddit-style, with the post vanishing and [deleted] in it's place rather than tempting the dreaded, ages-old ghost page bug to return.
Petition to replace Lucky, the worst rating, with Zing.
1 lucky = 1 prayer
It's kind of funny that one of the longest standing problems on the old forums, ghost pages, is still here on the new forums.
It's for a different reason though, old forums' was because of automerge
it also happened with deleted posts for non-gold members.
I got banned like a week ago for posting in the wrong section. The weird thing is that earlier that day, someone else made a thread in the wrong section and they only got their thread moved (they didn't get banned). What's the criteria for that?
Shouldn't that be stated in the rules then? Rules should apply equally to all or not at all.
You know that's not how it works around here you've been here for over 5 years and should know better
isnt that where discretion comes in lol, we've always been harder on longer term members of the community for the same shit because we should know better than to break a rule in the first place.
I got banned for a week for shitposting but in the rules it explicitly says that shitposting ISN"T a rule anymore I see other people shitposting all the time and they don't even get banned where's the consistency??
This assumes ASIC's thread was ordinary. Time to put on your thinking caps and review that thread.
Nobody's really sure what the current rules mean, and different moderators probably interpret it differently. Hezzy started a thread about changing the new rules, so we might see a lighter version of old FP rules. This "no rules but there are rules" idea hasn't really been working out.
Under the old rules themselves he'd obviously have been banned for attention whoring, particularly if that thread had ended up anywhere else. That thread was a half-baked idea if I ever saw one, because he should have been the one to move away from the argument to begin with, instead of continuing the drama by adding the thread into the mix. If he wanted to find out what other peoples' deal with him was it shouldn't have become public in the first place.
the entire point of these new rules were to supposedly take subjectivity out of the equation - and if you ask me banning people for different lengths based on how long they've been around is pretty damn subjective primarily since it's not written into the rules. like come on, everyone makes mistakes and if you're going to tell me that accidentally putting a thread in the wrong section warrants any sort of ban under these new rules than tbh I don't agree at all. this new rule set has been a joke from the start, it doesn't achieve its goals at all (ie a clear and simple rule-set) but instead has made them unclear and more subjective than ever.
Don't want subjectivity & not want inconsistencies? Means no room for mod discretion. So hire some robots, thanks.
making the rules clear and consistent and eliminating most subjectivity from the rules suddenly doesn't make mod discretion not a thing. Instead, it gives users a clear set of guidelines to follow that they can be held accountable to by moderators who have a clear set of guidelines to enforce. What we have right now is completely arbitrary, some people are being banned for things others aren't. It's like a wild-west, and the only thing that can fix that is making the rules list clear and concise. And per any good rules list say it "includes but is not limited to". I think back to my time as a moderator on another forum - gaming related, but smaller and more focused on a particular series. They have a very clear rules list. While I certainly wouldn't want to see all of the rules they had here, but I feel that having a clear ruleset is only a benefit to both user and moderator. Things ran smoothly as a result.
