So you don't like a forum where people are supposed to conduct themselves in a civilised manner? Or are you wanting a forum where people regularly call each other homophobic & racial slurs? Changelog won't be coming back. It's not my choice. There's stuff going on behind the scenes, I can assure everybody of that. Just yesterday garry fixed an issue with registration. I don't really know why he doesn't want the changelog to be public, maybe it's a result of how people were acting in this thread.
Maybe ask and not assume or be vague about who’s actually to blame? This shouldn’t be your job.
Look, in some places flaming or trolling isn't bannable, just frowned upon, sometimes not even that. Some people really don't have a problem being in a community where insults are thrown around from time to time. It's not as obvious as it seems that "treat others how you wish to be treated" means "no flaming", it'd be easier for members to have it made clear
It’s overly complicated and requires mental gymnastics to figure out if it’s flaming or just dumb attitude. Flaming is a simple yet effective ban reason and it’s always worked. Dumb/Rude/Awful Post are also easy reasons that have worked in the past when discretion and taking thread context is needed. What in the actual fuck does Treat others the way you wish to be treated mean? Its arbitrary and it’s incredibly easy to either. A. Exploit B. Confuse C. Not obvious enough Call it mod sass but Flaming is Flaming and that should have said Flaming and not also be a 24 hour ban.
Pretty much this. People are fed up with using a broken forum and getting almost no communication on it.
not having a changelog provides users with a sense of pride and accomplishment as they discover each new change on their own
THE BOTS ARE LEARNING
Get a load of this, a spambot giving ASIC sass
It's like the facepunch equivalent of /r/SubredditSimulator
On mobile I am often not able to scroll down. The top bar stays stationary and the rest of the page just gets stuck like a rubber band when I scroll. Anone else having this issue?
I'll sometimes get that issue on my desktop. To be honest I usually just end up using the desktop version on my phone, I find the mobile layout to not always work right and be somewhat combursom to use (especially when trying to do mod stuff)
I generally zoom in and out a lot. I pretty much surf every website this way on my phone so I'm used to it. I rarely use it in landscape.
I want a forum that says be civil, not a forum that hides what it wants behind a vague rule that can be applied to literally anything at all. If you don't want people to be dicks to each other and call each other niggerfaggots, then the rule should say "1. Don't be a dick to others". Don't try to justify "Treat others the way you want to be treated" as the same thing, because we both know it isn't. When the community starts punishing users as a whole, 99.99% of the time it's not the users that are at fault, it's the community. It's a shit way at trying to mitigate legitimate backlash for failing to provide a working system.
Are you on iOS? Tap on the forum content once or twice and scrolling should work until you go to another page. iOS is broken as hell atm
PSA: if you're getting the shaking bug in some threads, change your design to be full-width in the settings.
Is anyone else having a problem where they don't get controls in embedded videos? It works if I open a video in a new tab, but if I just play it in a page, I have no control other than clicking to pause or play, and the right-click menu. And I don't see the seek bar with the elapsed time or anything, either. I'm trying to figure out whether it's a Facepunch problem or if it's some kind of bizarre browser issue.
I used to have a page bookmarked that worked like a sandbox for testing Avatar and Backgrounds. Anyone have a link to that?
Firefox? If so, this is the solution I use (or used because custom css doesn't work now) video{ white-space: initial; }
I think this is what you're looking for?
That is just the one. Thank you very much
Thanks, at least I know it's not some weird setting I fucked up. And yeah, Firefox.
This doesn't fix that for me.
Same, I've been using full-width from day 1 and have had the vibrating post bug. Though recently I haven't seen it as much as the broken Twitter embeds that show the content but I can't click on them to open it in a new tab or press the play button on a video.
so should being a big baby but here we are
That's the thing though, I'm not shit-talking it. I never said there was anything wrong with the way Facepunch develops stuff, just that this is how Facepunch develops stuff.
bowser has always been sexy to be fair
The internet is filled with rules lawyers, you can't really get out of it this way. It's the thought that counts, sure, but unless the spirit of the rule is enforced, it won't get anywhere. It'd be nice if people were mature enough to Garry isn't a child, he isn't going to refuse to put the changelog back because people said the forums were broken or made jokes about him. Assuming that's the reason honestly reads as more offensive than me pointing out how the forums development cycle correlates to Facepunch Studios dev practices to begin with.
I'm on my way to work so I can't browse to see if this was asked but does anyone else have problems scrolling on mobile? Sometimes it won't scroll up or down and just gets stuck at a post.
Are you on iOS? Tap the thread content (someone's post or the bars between them) and scrolling should work until you swap pages. the forum sucks on iOS, and i'm losing count of how many times i've written this post by now
