I like how this gets thrown out by the green boys all the time, doesn't seem like a threat at aaalll We had a ting we liked - It got changed and many lost the things they liked - They complained - "DONT MAKE GARRY PULL THE PLUG YOU GUYS" Guess which one is a bit out of line.
Well Garry kinda said that himself a thread back :S
But i dont get why they keep saying it? Should we all shut the fuck up and not talk about what we dislike here?
No. Criticism is important. But at the same time, I feel that if we complain enough he might just pull the plug one day and we'll end up with absolutely nothing. The problem right now is: 1 - Garry doesn't have time, or isn't prioritizing work on the forums currently 2 - Hezzy is busy with his personal life, and is also not really able to manage and forward the many users' requests to Garry Constructively thinking, even though this isn't our "job" as users, we probably have to think ahead a bit and try to assist in solving this in a way where we avoid this current spiral of frustration. I'll see what I can do later today. I have a few ideas.
Trolling the whole forum by keeping a Troll unbanned on purpose for months/ years and then calling people manchildren. Nice.
First off, he's not going to do it. Period. Ever. I'll even toxx it with no escape clause. That is the root of all things. I explained this in my last post. Also, explained in my last two posts. This is not an excuse. This is a paid job, video game forum or not. There are no excuses for lower expectations. I'm waiting for a Hezzy reply before I go through with my idea, but it isn't our job. It shouldn't be our job. Constructive criticism shouldn't be expected of users by the developers/staff, as nice as it is.
Forums need developing in such a way that the platform of hezzy receiving information from users is done in a proper way. Relying on a half-baked mentions and notifications system isn't going to do it justice. You'll need to go formal. Making a scene won't get us very far
Well if he deletes the forum, what value is your toxx? Anyways, my reasoning is that I care more about the forum than I care about who or what is needed to keep it in shape. I'm willing to spend some of my time helping out, and I'm sure quite a few others are as well. You don't have to worry about it though, because as you said it's not your job. But let's keep in mind that regardless of whether Hezzy's doing a good job, constantly getting into arguments with him does NOT help this situation, if anything it makes it worse. Being constructive is the proper way of handling this. Exactly. I was thinking something like making a poll, and compiling a monthly "forum report" of some sort - so that Hezzy / Garry can easily understand the state of the forum, and what people are worrying/complaining about without having to read through 1000 posts.
probably a bit overkill
You found my inherent escape There's very little you can do. You can report things and that is about it. When the things you report get put on the backburner, then you can either get upset or stay idle. That's where we are right now, and frankly, either is perfectly justified. If angry users slows down your ability to do your job, you aren't doing your job right. The thing is, in Hezzy's position, you always have to be the better man. You don't get to do what he did last page and then not expect backlash. Once you do that, you tank your credibility for a long time. Same goes for every other confrontation we have had in these threads with him. It all has a price, and you can't just ban the dissent and criticism away. You especially can't do that, and in the same breath call for cooperation.
What happens if im banned from the FP discord
You contact him elsewhere and hope he actually responds to it, which is essentially saying go fuck yourself.
https://puu.sh/BDXzb/10de7b13a4.png @Hezzy What the hell was this ban? There was literally nothing in this post that could be considered against the rules. IlluminatiRex didn't flame anyone, didn't spam, didn't be a dick. He strongly called you out on failing to do your job, and then said that not everyone uses discord. This is completely uncalled for, and just looks like you throwing a temper tantrum to silence dissent. Not something a good community manager should do.
Both of the bans are, as someone would describe them, "manchild" bans. All in all though, I'd say they were worth it because all it did was serve to highlight the failures that were pointed out, and reinforce everything everyone has been so negative about.
I wish I could get pocket money for banning people en masse for what barely even remotely skirts on negativity towards my ego, but still call everyone else a manchild at the same moment.
Why are users expected to contact Hezzy directly on forum issues? To me it just seems that would give him an enormous amount of spam, I can't see having potentially hundreds of messages about the same issue an ideal situation. Shouldn't the users report forum problems to the moderators, and then the moderators relay those problems to Hezzy via (what I'm assuming exists) a moderator only discord?
better yet, shouldn't there be someone whose job it is to pay attention to the forums? preferably someone who actually has the time to do so consistently?
Hey, Hezzy rated it funny so I think that means I win.
Excuse me while I slide in here to disrupt the discussion but has anyone else been having text display problems ALL OVER THE SITE? https://i.imgur.com/dRE2zyo.png https://i.imgur.com/tVk2biy.png No issues on Firefox, so IDK what's going on.

What did you do.
No idea, if I interact with the fucked up text it normally fixes it, but sometimes its stuck like that and I have to highlight the whole page to be able to read anything.
Just driving by to say; I'd really prefer a toggle for the new spoiler function to go back to the black-box style. It gets tedious constantly hovering over a large paragraph to make sure it doesn't fade out while reading it.
I made a custom css for it, so should it be fixed in the next ten years, you can use this. spoiler:hover{filter: blur(4px); opacity: 0.8;} spoiler:active{filter:none; transition: filter 0s linear 0s;} spoiler:not(:active){filter: blur(4px); transition: filter 0.03s ease-in-out 10s;}
gotta find new ways to troll the userbase now that tudd's gone
We got some silence, snide remarks, petty bans, now all that's left is for Hezzy to close the thread again because we are too mean and another circle of life on FP will be complete.

The forum fucking nukes my phone battery too. Along with consuming an astonishing amount of RAM no matter what browser I use. I dunno if it's just the sheer number of scripts running to handle all the neat things like embeds, or if it's just one beast of a script that could perhaps be more optimal. But fuck me my phone whines about browsing for even ten minutes.
Just a bit of dissenting opinion here but this thread is a pretty terrible place for criticism. It goes from 1 to 11 at the drop of a hat. We'll have weeks of people casually pointing out problems or talking about how to temporarily fix them and suddenly have 10 people going "WTF Hezzy why are you never here cunt?" "You may as well just shut the forum down!!!" Yeah, the forums are barely being worked on and that's annoying, especially since the changes that are made just break parts of the forum. But flipping your shit doesn't help anyone and it's not a surprise that Hezzy is sarcastic and dismissive when the only time he's mentioned is when people are shouting at him. Hezzy can't make any changes, we all know this, just as we all know Garry will work on whatever he feels like working on, freaking out about it isn't helping matters. Criticise the forums, point out solutions sure, but just try to keep calm when you're doing it.
But that's not the only time people mention him. He got tagged at least 3-4 times I'm personally aware of in the weeks between the custom css system breaking and his recent posts. And none of those, up until recently, were hostile at all. Also Hezzy being sarcastic and dismissive only fans the flames. People get worked up because there are problems and they're seemingly being ignored. The guy whose job it is to handle those problems coming and going "yeah, I haven't been here for weeks" then being just as dickish back to the users as they were to him on top of banning them for bullshit reasons does not make for a conducive environment. People would be less hostile if they didn't constantly get hostility back. But when people who aren't hostile simply get ignored altogether while the hostile people at the very least get acknowledged, there's little motivation not to be hostile.
