I think most of them are actually on steam forums. But TF2 also has more users on reddit than on facepunch.

I know I'll only be speaking for myself, but if it helps to offer any insight to why the sub is barren then... cool. I used to post a lot in the Dota sub-forum on oldpunch, made OPs for the megathreads and stuff. When the subforum was deleted and the threads moved into General Games Discussion, while we technically weren't limited to one megathread about Dota (the active ones were the chat and media, while there was a giveaway and the annual secret santa) it felt cramped next to the other games. I can attribute that feeling to conditioning, being used to having a dedicated subforum without anything else in it, but I think that's around the time that I started using that megathread less often and started lurking on the subreddit. Then when newpunch was pushed out, we got the subforum back and were discouraged from using megathreads anymore, instead being encouraged to treat it like reddit does with a multitude of threads about anything and everything. I remember there was one guy who made a thread for each hero in the game (so 100+ threads) but I can't recall if each of them had a specialized OP catered to each hero, which still leaves me to wonder if the mod that deleted all of that guy's threads and temp banned them was in the right or not (spam if the same OP, legit posts if all original). The constant shuffling of threads and the changing rules of the forum made me feel alienated from posting, and when I used to check in every day, I only check in every major patch or scandal to see if anyone I recognize had something to say about it. I wish I felt like posting more, but the only times I do is when I want to make a zinger in the LMAO pics thread.

Some corrections: He was only banned from LMAO pics, not the entire fast threads. I couldn't find the ban reason, So I may be remembering incorrectly. LMAO Pics v

I meant banned in a more general way, like "this is a banned substance". Some forum software (like xenforo) do have thread ban functionality. However, that doesn't work too well if threads go over so fast.

Does anybody else think it might be a good idea to remove subforum links from the main page? I never click on GD because I always click directly to Meta and I'm just disappointed by the lack of activity in Meta. Meanwhile there are threads in GD that never get seen because everyone clicks directly to their subforum of choice. I dunno, here's a CSS to try it yourself: div.forumsubforums { display: none; }

do mods have the power to change subforums? would be nice to periodically change them

Very limited power. Garry hasn't made the proper tools yet. Creating new forums don't exist, but maybe just renaming them

One way to do it is to go to Event Log filter by ban events and then search their name.

It was 1 day, and I have no idea I have not been banned on this site yet! Maybe the event log page if you can see that as a banned user?

For some stupid reason ban durations got removed from the event log after having been there for months.

I don't know. I didn't ask him to do it.
