Firearms XVII - Stuffing A $100 Hi-Point Down the Front of My Jorts Edition

Aren't those mausers just re-barreled Spanish mausers from like WWII. Should be able to take the stress. Only issue will be if the rifling will play nice with today's loadings.
If anything, a 4" group at 100 yards will acceptable with it.
Pretty much. If they were able to take 7mm or 8mm Mauser, they should be able to handle .308 just fine assuming they're not pitted all the way through.
After the bolt locked up on mine, I went around looking for why on some other forums and some folks said that the ammunition might have been of a too high pressure for the rifle.
However, others have said that theirs have taken NATO loads with no problem.
It's probably one of those things that's a case by case basis.
Also I think the Spanish Mausers are rebarreled 1893s.
They had 1893s for a long time. After the civil war, they adopted the M43, which was basically a G98.
There other thing is that .308 Win and 7.62x51 Nato have different cases and pressures. 308 has a higher pressure and a little thinner case wall. 7.62x51 Nato has thicker case walls and a lower pressure. So hunting rifles setup for .308 can use both. The .308 case might be imprinting itself into chamber more than the Nato spec ammo so it gets hung up.
If your bolt locked up you might want to have your rifle get a chamber cast and check head space.
I did some blatting in a comp with a loaned gun:

So I got a tigerstripe stock set from my man David down at Soviet Stocks and I've gotta say, he does fuckin' amazing work. For a long time I wanted to go for a 80s AK-74 aesthetic, but with RPK furniture you can't really do that. So I decided to drop that idea (to be continued on an SLR-106?).

I know a JP rifle when I see one, I'm friends with the man who owns the company and the guy who designed most of its features
JP rifles ain't no joke I've shot a couple of my buddies and they just work if I had a spare.........2500$ i'd buy one in a heartbeat
Anyone have anu experience with those surplus Star BMs?
Yes. They're solid, basically a 1911 but with no grip safety and a captive recoil spring. Shoot great, inexpensive, and well made.
Nice! Since you work with them, do you think it's worth upgrading to the 'very good' condition for an extra $40?
Maybe? I've handled probably 60 or so in the last few months and really only had about 3-4 that were trash condition, but they still functioned just fine.
I would say the Star B is a great pistol to start trying out gun smithing and other mods due to price and similarity to a 1911.
wait, you work at dkmags? I bought a bersa mag from yall once and it was kinda shit
That I do. I believe I may have sold a few of you some things without knowing, we are one of the larger sellers on GunBroker :P
you could prob look through your shipping lists and doxx all of us
I never bought anything from him, so good luck.
Illinois Circuit Judge Rules FOID Card Unconstitutional; Attorne..
Something different for a change.
FOID wouldn't be so bad if it were for all the other restrictions Illinois throws on top.
Well there's literally only one Steyr dealer in my state. ONE. And he's a gunsmith who doesn't really do much business and doesn't usually sell guns. But he's willing to work with me and I'll be getting a Steyr handgun soon as he can get one in.
Technically any dealer should be able to get you a Steyr. A lot of the major distributors carry their handguns, and unlike Colt or some other manufacturers the dealer doesn't need to sign any agreements to buy their guns. Just find a local dealer who uses Bill Hicks or RSR as one of their distributors and they should be able to order one for you.
Yeah not really sure what the hangup with finding a specific Steyr dealer is unless Steyr is really weird about their distribution in your specific area.
I'm not sure either but I asked literally every gunstore in the city worth going to and no one had a distributer. Not even the shithole megastore Sportsmans Warehouse.
Why not order one online and have it shipped to the store? Or check on Gun Genie.
Gun Genie doesn't list Steyr on there. Bit of a moot point since I'm getting the deal of cost+$50, and no one around here offers transfers for less than ~$50 anyway. I think the cheapest is this skeezy, ghetto pawn shop that does FFLs for $15 but uhh, I really don't want them storing my info on paper files in the ghetto pawn shop.
So ebay has gone full retard. They're claiming that the magpul Remington 700 magwell adapters and mags are assault weapon parts, and slapped us with posting illicit material.
After talking over the phone their excuses were:
- A remington 700, is an assault weapon
- The Trigger guard, is a prohibited trigger
- A trigger guard, is a frame of receiver
- The words "bolt action" means we are selling an assault weapon bolt
- the words "bolt action" means we are selling an action, Frame or receiver
- Magpul mags are only high capacity
- Magpul mags only fit assault weapons
What a crock of shit.
None of those make no fucking sense.
Doesn't have to when you know jack shit about the product. If anything they just looked at "keywords" and automatically assume gun part/name/company=bad. 0 critical thought used in this.
Does it look like I'm an arms dealer yet?

Finally got the case set up (thanks to gf for helping with the cutwork)
Still have to modify sear, as my calipers are currently broken
Other than that, this project is looking like it's done!
I should add, yes, the case locks.
