Firearms XVII - Stuffing A $100 Hi-Point Down the Front of My Jorts Edition

Why don't you just build one from Brownells or Lone Wolf?
Because I live in Australia, not the US.
Got my Star BM yesterday, having only ever held polymer frame pistols I was surprised how tank-like and solid this thing feels in hand. Shes an old gal, confirmed to be 43 years old by the serial and later the actual date under the grip. However she's in great condition aside for some deblued spots, the barrel is dirty but rifling looks good.

Haven't gotten to run some ammo through yet.
So the proposed NZ gun laws have come out and they look like a fucking nightmare.
Been looking for a new upper for my Sig M400, and I can't decide between a $350 PSA 20" 6.5 Grendel upper, or something like a .300BLK 18" upper. I'm looking for something for medium range, 400-600 yard shooting that's capable of taking white tail deer reliably at those ranges. Another alternative would be to buy a complete rifle in whatever relatively common caliber that's larger than 5.56 but not into the realm of the AR-10.
Grendel or 6.8 would be the ticket. The 6.8 has more punch at those ranges but 6.5 is much more affordable with wolf steel case being a thing. It'll also give you plenty of range, out to 1000 yards if you want to with the right barrel and such.
Alright, thanks. The PSA 6.5 upper seems to be a great deal at $350, so I'm gonna nab it before the sale ends.
Yee, PSA makes some decent stuff. Might be worth it to rebarrel later down the road if you want super accuracy, but it should be fine for hunting as it sits.
I have gotten excellent accuracy out of heavy profile SS 6.5 Grendel barrels; Bill Alexander says the cartridge really shines out of an 18-20"; if you want to re barrel, look at Lilja for heavier barrels and Faxon for lighter profiles.
Also, consider this: 6.5 Grendel has more energy out of a 12.5" barrel than 7.62x39 and can still get out to 900yds, making it a prime candidate for a pistol build.
As far as mags go, ASC, E Lander and Alexander Arms are your best bet.
This really looks bad. How do you think it'll effect Australian laws?
Well the greeens called for a complete ban of any gun with a magazine. Other than that, nothing i think.
Well the greens don't really have much power. So good I guess.
So what's everyone's thoughts on the new Beretta 92X?

I honestly love everything about it except the rear sight sitting so far back but I get it, longer sight radius = better pew pews. If one were to have the "Ultimate 92" would this be it, or would I be better off upgrading a normal 92FS? I truly think this gun is a pure piece of craftsmanship, it reminds me of MGS3 where snake is Admiring that 1911, this is basically the 9mm equivalent.
I don't care for the "READ MANUAL BEFORE USE" down the side though.
92s are fucking ugly so it don't matter lol.
It's ok. Just not worth the price point. Should have replaced the 92FS with it.
I'm just excited I finally have a base to make Wesker's Samurai Edge from Resident Evil :P
The 92X is pretty for sure. The 1400$ MSRP puts it in an odd price category for an IPSC production class pistol though. Especially with tanfoglio's running 8-900$ and SP-01 shadows running 9-1200$ with target II's sitting at 1300-1400$
It's in about the price range of a Sig Legion SAO. When I get to work today I might be able to see how much they cost and give your guys a more accurate retail price.
That would be nifty if it comes in around 1000$ retail it would be worth more than a "huh that's cool" for me at least
I looked at the price and looks like standard retail will be somewhere between $1200-$1300 once the initial newness wears off, depending on how much your dealer marks things up that is.
Do any other sites besides PSA do decent daily deals?

Aero Precision has some pretty bad ass deals from time to time, which often end up going below my dealer cost (to the frustration of us)
You guys have a website and ship? I'd buy from you on occasion.
Unfortunately for you, I found a new local dealer that is my new favorite place to order from. He is pretty upfront with his costs, even showing you the price he gets it from the distributor. He does a damn good job of explaining why his prices are the it is and is upfront about what you are trading in. He will also try to give you the best deal on a gun.
The shop ordered a Glock 40 10mm for me for $700 and had it in the shop in under a week. All without having me pay up front like the other shops. Absolutely nuts.
So some of you may remember I made a post about something really cool that I couldn't talk about yet. Well, now I can. And here it is:

This is an unregistered, 100% authentic, Nazi MP44 (Stg44).
All sn# match, though it has different manfactuerers for quite a few components. The gun itself is stamped MP44, which places it in very early 1944 (based on serial number range). It is in full operatable condition.l, and is practically mint save for some minor rust on the hand guard.
As I said this is an unregistered gun, which is why I couldn't talk about it at the time of the original post. The local ATF was super chill about it and allowed the owner to legally transfer it to a military museum. As for how the heck I cam across it, a long time family friend father passed away and left behind a lot of guns. This one the best father traded a GI for a Colt woodsman back in the 1950's, to which he proceeded to cosmoline up and store in a false wall for almost 50 years.
I'm going to make a video on it soon, and I may be able to shoot it I'm about 2 weeks.
Wow, holy shit dude.
That is a legit piece of history. What a find and what a story.

Got to go to Iwo Jima this week. 120mm Japanese Artillery Piece that is still there in its original spot.
lost my pmag virginity today (californian)
my reaction when i pulled one out: "it's so fucking big"
then i realized i pulled out a 40 rounder instead of one of the 30's
Just reminded me to go get some 30 round glock funsticks.
