Firearms XVII - Stuffing A $100 Hi-Point Down the Front of My Jorts Edition

That sucks, dude. I'm sorry to hear that
Fuck em. Their loss.
Price gouging during panics.
I don’t mean to ask you to share if you don’t want to but my reaction is, WTF why?
Butted heads with the owner over my sales style. He said I was apathetic to making any corrections he requested, I said I was not getting the help I needed and if I can't get that help I can't do my job. He took that as my "resignation".
My front sight is crooked. This is with the rear sight alllllll the way to the right at 25 yards.

god invented hammers for a reason
Sadly that's not an easy thing to fix. Since the thing is pinned to the barrel the only right way to fix it is to replace the barrel and front post assembly.
God I enjoyed the local gun show but there be some retarded ass people that I just kind of had to bite my tongue to not say anything mean to.
I know the feel. While I'm a firm believer that the 2nd Amendment is for everyone there are some people that shouldn't even touch a firearm.
I remember one time I had a guy come into the shop. For some god forsaken reason the state gave him the licensing to teach carry classes, to which his idea of carrying consisted of wearing sweatpants using a left hand uncle mikes IWB holster worn on the right and outside filled with a Hi-point .45
I've wanted a Tommybuilt G36 ever since I discovered them. Saw a nice one for $3000 on gunbroker, unfortunately my budget is about $60.
He could always remove the pins, adjust the cant and weld it. No need to throw out a whole barrel.
beating it into submission is still an option
sawing the sight off the gas block and going optics only is an option too if you want to get weird about it
actually I'm none to sure on that - is the gas port also off center or is the FSB just offset?
That is the question, and I'm unsure of the answer. I bought the barrel assembly as a unit.
If it was sent out like that then take pictures and send it back I'd be absolutely pissed if the company I bought from sent me an obviously canted FSB and if that bunch is worth anything they will replace it.
If you weld it that changes the temper on the barrel, which can completely fuck accuracy.
On a competition bolt gun that needs to be minute of gnats ass at 1000 yards, yes the heat effected zone might mess with your harmonics and the weld contracting may cause stresses to pull on the barrel which may or may not be a big deal but a tack or two on the FSB is a non-issue. Now if he were to choose to perform an oxy-acetylene weld that requires holding the torch in one spot for a considerable amount of time then that's another story.
I tried that. It is hard to see.

usually just the fsb is canted.
if it was me I'd just try cracking the barrel nut loose and reindexing the barrel to the receiver.
It's not as simple as just re-indexing the barrel. The barrel extension has a pin in it that lines up with a notch on the upper receiver which was designed to allow indexing at the armorer level. To re-index the barrel you would first need to remove the barrel from the barrel extension. If you manage to do that you would have to shim the barrel extension and the barrel, though for the amount of headspace that would be changed you are seriously better off buying a new barrel then trying to play the bolt swap game.
You wouldn't get too tight of headspace from doing something like that, it would be too loose. Tight headspace is easy to fix, loose headspace pretty much means you're better off with a new barrel when it comes to AR's.
Wtf? If you remember from my reddit post I linked, I had this problem too but they fixed it immediately (sent me a new barrel without waiting for the old one to come back) and said they were changing suppliers as a result. My replacement was dead on at mechanical zero.
I'll reach out to them. Don't feel bad about it, though. It wasn't until after I ordered that I found another supplier. Again, it's just a fun range gun, so I'm willing to just Kentucky windage a bit. I might even get a repro Colt scope to throw on it, then it won't even be a problem.
I get what you are saying, obviously it wasn't sent to you out of maliciousness. But, they should at least make it right once you contact them. It should work out of the box as intended.
If anyone here likes Birchwood Casey products, now is the time to buy before production gets moved to China.
Is it possible to stop shipping shit over to China to ship back to us?
Anyone seen or fired one of these?

I thought you didn't like Mosin's
Yes, and?
That thing is kind of interesting basically a teeny tiny WZ48 I couldn't shoot it effectively being 6'5" but i can see the draw
