If i was to ever get another PTR91 I would go for something similar.
Watching the Gun Jesus livestream, it's him and his dad drinking and talking about guns.
https://youtu.be/H0-7ruaDhwA
Is it archived anywhere? I'm interested in seeing Ians dad.
Supposedly he'll be releasing the stream on Youtube Tuesday, but bear in mind it's super quiet.
If you just want to see what he looks like, he was interviewed for a History Channel show once. I believe it was Tales Of The Gun.

Thinking about selling this guy.. What is a good price? Based off of Gunbroker and Armslist, i'm thinking 1500 is a good price. Thoughts? https://www.northwestfirearms.com/attachments/20190128_222701-jpg.542976/ This was a rear half converted (receiver) Saiga done by RWC and I bought the rest of the parts and had it converted professionally. So now it's basically an SGL now. (non folding stock) Has full russian furniture (except stock, stock is Phoenix Tech. Stock. A lot better than the original war saw stock), Bulgarian Gas block, brake, cleaning rod, gas tube, russian front sight, tapco trigger and 3 cheap bulgarian mags.
Seen some RIS 2s for cheap on ebay and my wallet tried to run off. Dumb bastard forgot he didn't have legs. Block 2™ gang soon.
Honestly that is a tall number but if someone is willing to pay that, jump on it. I had the IZ132Z which is essentially the same rifle already converted by RWC, but with a "tacticool" handguard and foregrip. I bought it for $850 and sold it for $700 which at the time and location was a reasonable price.
When was this? Prices now for AK74s are wild atm. There is a guy selling an unfired Arsenal SGL for 3600 on Gunbroker lmao. That is ridiculous no matter what though. Even just the regular half converted sporter models are going for 1k+. Arsenal SLR or SGLs are going for 1500-2000 easy.. assuming they even sell lol. back when I was looking for an AK74, they were selling like candy on Gunbroker. A lot of them coming and going.. except ones that are fucking priced twice their worth like some..
Well I'm not him but back in 2014 I went to a gun show and distinctly remember seeing AKs for like 700-900.
2014 was around the time they banned importation of Saiga and VEPRs. So they were def. cheaper then. The cheapest AK74 you can buy currently right now would be a Bulgarian parts built one on an american receiver and a non-CHF barrel. They usually run 800-1100 but if you want to buy a proper one it'll probably run you 1k+ simply because there are a lot of cheap Bulgy parts ones with Waffen Werks receivers (which are garbage and not made to spec properly).
Wait, AK's have specs?
Just this evening I was looking at old photos of my AK-74 that I paid $600 for in 2013. I sold it when the 7N6 ban went into effect for a nice profit, but they all go for $900 or more now. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/111854/3d65eb37-db49-41ca-9b85-b170c7a18b9d/20140717_120404.jpg
Have you ever had one of those days where you buy a surplus Hensoldt z24 and then you realize that the scope mount needs to fit flush with the top but your PTR has a welded top rail So you buy the same exact same gun without a rail just so you can use the 1980's aesthetic claw mount. I want to die. Uh also does anyone here have experience with ARs and Can Cannons? I bought a Franklin Armory CA7 and a stripped can cannon upper, can i just buy a spare BCG and slide it right into the upper and have it work right out the box?
You should be able to. The can cannon uses just a big ass barrel and you fire blanks to propel it. Worst case scenario, you might have to modify the bolt carrier with another gas key.
Shouldn''t even have to do that, as the gas key is non-functional with the can launcher. Basically it becomes a straight pull, with no gas coming back to the gas key to cycle the bolt. Any 5.56 BCG should work just fine with no modifications so long as it headspaces.
I really want one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxTdGVAIn-o
Yeah, I just wasn't sure if the gas tube hole in the receiver is blocked off, and if so, if the standard key would hit it and prevent the bolt from locking fully.
Shot my first IDPA qualifier today. Went from nothing and not registered with IDPA straight to Marksman rather than Novice, and I'll be registering later today. The dude who's bringing IDPA into our club said in all the supposedly hundreds of qualifiers he'd seen or looked up, he'd never seen people jump straight to Marksman on their first qualifier, and in our club 4 people did. Obviously I'm sure it happens, but that was nice to hear. Those of us who did were all not too far from Sharpshooter, with my dad actually being 0.2 seconds off of it. By the end of the day I was running an RSO through one of the courses of fire and timing them, despite having literally no qualifications whatsoever and having never used a shot timer before today. Those things are dead simple. Not a bad day, considering I only had like 2 hours of sleep.
What's the qualifications for Marksman?
We shot the IDPA 5x5 Classifier and I got about 36 seconds in SSP. Marksman is between 32.41-41.6 seconds. Course of fire is a single target at 10 yards, with 4 strings. Each string starts holstered. First string is 5 shots freestyle. Second string is 5 shots strong-hand only. Third string is 5 shots, "emergency" reload, then another 5 shots freestyle. The 4th and final string is 5 shots freestyle, but at least 1 of those shots must be a headshot. IDPA scored by raw time + misses + penalties. I had a raw time of 32.something (had I not missed any I would have been in sharpshooter) and then -4 for misses. The target is marked with zones that are -0, -1, and -3, and a complete miss is -5. I had 4 in the -1.
House passes bill allowing concealed carry across state lines So here's a thing. Made it through the house which means it should pass the Senate.
Good - most states recognize each others CCL/LTC but this just makes it easier and less stressful.
In negative news: Supreme Court declines to hear challenge to suppressor restrictions
I hope they get sued for this shit.
I don't think you can sue the Supreme Court.
big q is will other states recognize and reciprocate with constitutional carry states
Not exactly - poor choice of words on my part. There are appeals and other legal avenues that can take place.
