As for weighing in on something you don't like - of course, you are more than welcome to give a constructive criticism about a video. That's how it works and how it should always work, in my opinion. But here's the problem - no one criticized the video. Instead everyone jumped on criticizing Metokur himself because "waaah he's bag alt-righter meanie!". Sorry, but that's not how constructive criticism works.
Also you may think of it as dumb, but everyone ignored Bee York's video posts, I can assure you - he wouldn't have the incentive to keep posting.
Generally i agree that not over-reporting on actual neo nazis is a good idea, persistently over-reporting extremist groups, especially if they aren't already in some kind of position of authority, leads to many negatives with little to no "suppression" of bad ideas, because they are already incredibly unpopular. I like the "starve them of oxygen" approach as far as reporting goes, it goes beyond "extremist groups" thoug. Media by itself is attracted to and signal boosts horrific shit because it's the most successful attention grabber, the best example is how school shooter reporting happens. The key is overreporting though, it should be reported, but proportionately and that report makes *some* good suggestions for how to do that. In any case, the analog here would not giving these threads 8 pages.
I disagree on your extended conclusions based on the report, and some of the conclusions inside it (intentionally not reporting both sides of a story leads to gamergate style coverage, yet this is something they suggested). "Don't over report extremists" is a step any individual journalist, youtuber, etc can take on a personal level, it doesn't interfere with other people's ability to communicate and poses little to no risk to a society. However taking the extra step to "deplatform and censor" is more dangerous than the potential benefits, these dangers dont seem to be being considered at all here.
That shit about the importance of free speech ideals isn't just lipservice, if you create an apparatus for censorship it will eventually be coopted by people who disagree with you on what should be censored. Unfortunately it was only relatively recently that supporting gay rights became popular, but what about 10-20 years ago, would these sites have been fine to deplatform people for "pushing perverted gay agenda" just because it wasnt popular at the time? Of course not, mass internet censorship of gay rights activists would have set back the movement significantly, and "it works" isnt any justification. In the future other marginilized groups will face similar situations, generally it's a very bad idea to create tools to use against them in the future, and even now i believe your definitions are way too broad.
For example you seem to want everything count dankula related memory holed despite him already being censored by the government in a kangaroo court, now we also need to censor him trying to complain about being censored? Victims of the UK's now thousands of unjust "internet" prosecutions based on nothing continue to grow, and yet because it's unpopular, censor em?
