I have a case model similar to this and there is an entire massive side compartment with grommets connecting it that you can use specifically for cable management... it's impossible to fuck it up.
I can't believe Polygon's DOOM review actually got topped. This is incredible.

I have poor cable management because I'm lazy, don't have a windowed case, and its been 9 years since I'be built my current computer. But dear God would I at least put effort into it if I was making a video for the web, especially for a site like The Verge.
Depends on your setup. For example, my PC rests on carpet so its better to have the PSU fan facing upwards rather than downwards. Also, if you want to achieve negative pressure rather than positive pressure you can use the PSU fan as another exhaust by facing it in towards the case.
we talking about cursed computers https://i.imgur.com/YEaQtOR.jpg https://i.imgur.com/CokjaDS.jpg https://i.imgur.com/iFCSIvb.jpg here's an older picture of the front excuse the finger I didn't feel like taking a picture of it https://i.imgur.com/9LaGxJw.png also here's my older cursed one motherboard Fried btw https://i.imgur.com/fjzWjcg.png and this is the new one
not if you have a case that has spots for cable management like a corsair or fractal design
I'm not convinced this video isn't a prank.
Positive pressure and grill filters = no dust buildup for many, many years.
It definitely can by deciding to spend a little more on a non-shitty case. If you want an example with an upgrade that I did just recently: PC Building V4 This definitely wasn't the problem with the Verge's build though.

Yeah, I got one a yearish ago and that's how the screws were I think, just slap em in there and you can screw them all the way through the fan.
I literally just got the cooler he is putting in, you're not supposed to put the screws all the way in. There is an metal plate underneath, hes using the fan screws to crew in the radiator to the case.
Pussies. You should've seen my tiny Silverstone case with a full-length GPU in it and a watercooler. It had absolutely no room. Pretty much 80% of the internal space was FILLED with cables. Couldn't get a bloody finger in there.
I didn't even realize that when I watched it lol I have a similar cooler and I didn't even realize he did i t.
Also, hes lucky its a newer generation water cooler than the older ones. The old ones used to run the water pipe right along the screws. A lot of people did the same shit and pierced the waterline and flooded the system.
Oh no the thermal paste! It won't spread evenly! SOMEONE STOP THIS MAN!
What does a crappy console port have to do with a clueless build?
I only made it 6 minutes in. Christ that wasn’t even an anti static wristband. That was just a little rubber bracelet like you get for being a good boy at the dentist! He called zip ties “tweezers”!
You people speak as if there is so much static electricity you have charged up that you'll explode the MB. Come on, it's fine.
They disabled the comments and ratings. They were up just a couple hours ago.
Get a load of this guy. https://twitter.com/StefanEtienne/status/1040235697028964358 Just admit you fucked up and redeem yourself.
>verge makes bad video >comments complain it's a bad video working as expected
I will never ever buy a case that doesn't allow me to hide cables behind the motherboard absolute godsend to have this, its basically required. I don't care how ugly it looks, if I can't keep the cables out of the fans direction, why even have a case at all.
a professional victim in action.
I wouldn't assume so. He responded to my email, actually, and though he didn't admit too much of a fault, he did admit that he made mistakes - and he mentioned that they couldn't reshoot. My guess is that even though The Verge's videos are generally sleek, their workflow is really set up to produce the same, consistent look with a quick turnaround. This guy obviously didn't have routine with building computers, and he ended up winging it, probably because he didn't have time to look up shit. I mean, he had no business making a tutorial, but he's a young guy, and probably looking to prove himself at The Verge, and this is maybe "a piece he could do", but perhaps said with more confidence than warranted. I mean his Twitter is obviously just a personal one, and I doubt he deliberately set out to make a bad video just to stir up drama. He's not a professional victim, he's just - along with the verge - trying to save face. Try to look at the positives - this video shows that literally anyone could build a PC. The fact that the verge is even covering custom PCs as anything else but an enigma meant only for elitists is positive.
the verge is a company full of professional victims, who whinge about anything and everything.
I don't know why you got so many disagrees. Cable management will not affect the cooling or airflow of your PC a single bit. It's been tested. And when the worst case scenario of cable management failed to make a difference, T-Shirts and stuffed animals were put in with it. And when that failed to make a difference, it was only when boxes were placed against the fans completely blocking off most of the airflow that made a difference
Also always look for proper slots for zipties in the backplate of the case you're buying. Zipties are really great for tightening your hidden cables for easy opening and closing, and are basically a must-have for cable management. Pfft my old PC looked much worse than that. In fact, half a year ago my old GPU died (BSOD at random moments in very specific games after over an hour of playing at first - all the way to BSOD in almost every game after 2-3 minutes of playing) So I got a 1070 because I knew I was going to upgrade my PC anyhow, but it didn't fit the old case due to the harddrive bay. And yet, I couldn't get rid of the harddrive bay because it protected two harddisks. My final solution was to literally saw off the parts of the bay that didn't give my GPU enough clearance. The final state of my PC just looked completely awful. My new PC got a proper treatment though, and the 1070 didn't get phased at all by its shoddy experience in the old PC. Still cool and silent despite being heftily overclocked.
I've had my current custom built for about a year and the ONLY thing I could not figure out where to put was my cooling tube from my Kraken, but my Graphics card has a back plate so letting it sorta naturally sit there isn't the worst thing in the world. Aside from that, it pretty much stays clean without me having to ever do anything (I check it like once every couple weeks and it is always spotless)
