Yes, this situation was avoidable and shouldn't have happened to begin with, I've said this in every post I've made in this thread. But it did. So with regards to what actually happened - which happened because clearly everyone involved is nuts - would Aaron beating Miller to death with a bat (the obvious outcome of this situation had they not shot him) be better because at least that way no guns were involved?

What should they have done then? Let the dude bludgeon the old man to death with the bat and tried to defend themselves with their fists? Let's be real, they're disgustingly obese and the old man is literally a senior citizen. The father was pumped on adrenaline, raging hard, and was in far better shape. With a bat against those two he could've easily killed them; them having guns is not an obscene "power" difference at that kind of distance where a man can knock you down in only a few seconds. Should they have brought knives instead? Or maybe a bat too? This wasn't a mass shooting, this was close proximity idiocy. If they all had swords or knives or bats, they could easily have been just as lethal, and potentially, for more individuals involved. A bat to the brain or a knife to the liver is going to kill just as easily as a gunshot.

This was over a dumpster twin mattress, they won't be able to afford a good defense.

I can promise you he didn't have the bat in his back pocket, it was obviously present from the start unless it just materialized from thin air. He had brought it out with him and retrieved it from nearby while the wife tried to hide it by pointing the camera away.

I question the honesty of the wife who seemed to egg on her psychopath husband against the fatmen who were chill and trigger disciplined. Dude was obviously being aggressive, and threatening to kill the dude even without a bat is still lethal intent, justifying pulling the gun. If somebody in Texas says "I'm going to kill you," you can legally pull out a gun in defense at that point, whether the person has a weapon or not.

honestly this is just victim blaming at this point. they can have guns, but he cant have a bat. if they're both in the wrong, obviously the guns make them MORE wrong, because they were completely unnecessary. If they are going to fight with blunt weapons, they can run, they can use their arms to defend themselves, they don't necessarily die instantly. You guys simply are blind to guns being special.

The both of them are hellbent on proving that the father was to blame when even in Texas Law, the two gun owners violated the law first by branding weapons which is nothing more than threatening intent. That means the father going 'papa bear' was actually in his legal rights to defend his family nearby. Additionally, the two of them forced the noncombatants on their knees at gunpoint with firearms at two unarmed and nonthreatening individuals. They're in the wrong, even by the standards put forth.

Not the case, you have to fear for your life to justifiably brandish a gun. If the father was acting that way prior to the old man brandishing the weapon, and the old man is well an old fat man, of course he'd fear for his life.

They should have, if they had any care for another person, accepted that THEY put him in this situation, so THEY should take the risk of having to beat his ass WITHOUT using their instantly deadly guns. You seem to gloss over the whole you can be killed by a baseball bat just as easily as a gun when you're 67 years old.

I automatically disliked these two and I assume they created this situation. I hope that can be proven in court, but I doubt it will be. From the footage we have, a guy rushes a 67 year old with a bat and gets shot after being warned repeatedly not to do the thing. That's it.

That's legitimately insane to say. I shit you not. You can hit the same exact place with a bat as with a gun and the mortality is literally ALWAYS higher with a gun, especially in the short run.
