https://youtu.be/CiGjYAB_Bkc One of the interesting moments where I think I'd prefer the knockoff over the original, detachable magazines and ammo that's not unobtainium are both very nice improvements. Also as much as I generally dislike decorative guns, I have to admit the Spanish style of damascening is rather nice.

https://youtu.be/zq7_w6FWenY Never knew these things had an automatic slide release, honestly I don't get why more guns don't do that.

How cumbersome is a gasmask during an actual combat scenario?
Really. If you don't seal it up properly and/or after sprinting there's good chance your lenses will foam up to shit. For reference, during my last exercise we had a standing CBRN-alert which meant that any time of the day there could be a "chemstrike" which resulted in us taking the masks on and off at least thirty times during a ten-hour period. You feel a bit badass the first thirty minutes but once your squad leader starts yelling at you to take ground while under enemy fire your biggest wish is for the CBRN situation to be declared safe. As a medic I'm fucked during CBRN situatuions because the gas mask keeps you from tending to the wounded properly and hinders parts of your medical examination.
How badly does it affect situational awareness and communication?
Mk 48?

You lose alot of your general awareness as well as periphal vision. You also have a massive blindspot due to the big rubber nose so if you don't clear the terrain properly you always run the risk of stepping on OpFor (true story lol) or worse. Communication depends. We have ComTac headsets that either amplify speech (meaning you'll hear just fine) and Bowman headsets with a small microphone you can put inside the mask (not recommended) or next to the filter.
@Joey Skylynx I don't know if you've ever seen this guy before, but this homemade gun of his just popped up in my youtube recommendations last night. https://youtu.be/r-PFgRdNGmE Some serious modern rednecking right there.
Thanks for the info, was genuinely curious!
No probs. Also for drinking with the mask we have this rubber hose which you hook up to the canteen (doesn't work with camelbak lol). Make one fuck up and your water is contaminated. Fun stuff. Here's the mask we're issued for reference: https://www.forsvarsmakten.se/imagevault/publishedmedia/frv0xs9wipmb8yxqv00r/skyddsmask-90-900.jpg
He's actually one of my favorite gunsmiths on Youtube! IIRC, he has been working on a rifling device which would allow home gunsmiths to rifle their own weapons for a fraction of what it'd cost to get the proper equipment.

Holy crap.
I really wish people would add some context/explanation to all images they post here
Why don't they just use masks that firefighters use? Those are made for user visibility. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1811/392985a8-c30e-446a-b5a3-b119eb0ff2c4/image.png
some militaries do, its just when youve purchased thousands(or more) of masks that are otherwise effective and functional, it starts to seem like its not worth the money (to the penny counters atleast)
Did anyone else think Captain Speers seeing this?
It's meant to be used with the visor down. The whole reason they got the Revision helmets was because they sold this as a complete package that could scale up or down with modular bits. http://sadefensejournal.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/batlskin1.jpg The mandible and visor are meant to protect turret gunners/riot police from rocks/shrapnel. Some German SEK officers were using them during the G20 summit https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DEM2lGCXoAApn0R.jpg:large https://cdn.cnngreece.gr/images/news/2017/07/08/1.JPG
The helmets remind of the replacement motorbike helmet that Garza found in Generation Kill

Looks just like that scene in Iron Man when he floats around his lab.
Just think how much time you could save popping down to Tesco’s and back with that jet pack.
[VGS] Shazbot! [VGTB] Is that the best you can do? [VGTG] I am the greatest! [VGW] Woohoo!
