Mom? Dad? Please stop fighting and start talking about guns again.
We say D/M/Y Saying the ISO one is closer to the american type is a bit misleading. The ISO goes Y/M/D, the american one jumbles it up a bit and does M/D/Y. One could argue that D/M/Y is closer to the ISO standard because it keeps things in the same order, just reversed.
https://twitter.com/OedoSoldier/status/1056273325268320256 China has produced some prototypes for a BMPT-like vehicle based on the Type 59 (T-54 clone) chassis. Probably intended for export to 3rd world countries, but it seems like a cost effective idea. https://i.imgur.com/RIrAWcy.jpg https://i.imgur.com/xhwmGoV.jpg https://i.imgur.com/a3rKh9e.jpg They're also testing a new SAW-like LMG. Can feed through a belt or a magazine in a manner similar to the Negev. Action seems to be based on a PKM's which is ultimately just an AK action flipped upside down. It may replace the QJY-88 which is not well liked due to the fact that it has the weight and size of a GPMG but is only chambered in 5.8mm.
Ian just released a video about the Mini-14. https://youtu.be/RxLrz1vTloI
Looks like the LMG is based on the QBZ-3 assault rifle https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/post-131-1170885131.jpg https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/picture-14-13.png
Hilarious Ruger actually though the Mini14 could have beaten the M16.
oh yea the serbs were notorious for trench art on their guns. AK specific part websites, like apexgunparts.com even sell several trench art M70 handguards for a surprisingly cheap price, since trench art from serbs is so abundant. also many will have pictures glued on too. link: Balkan Wars M70 Handguard Set, Yugoslavian, Sold *As Is*

I thought those were Ace Combat screenshots
Actually to be honest, I don't find it hilarious at all, its a pretty realistic suggestion. If it was designed and pitched before the M16 was being pushed, I could certainly see the US military adopting the mini because it was a more cost effective, easier to produce and near 1:1 of their current combat rifle. Its not a far fetched assumption at all as militaries actually do that all the time, it also saves time changing training routines as its essentially the same gun, just smaller and lighter.
That is also the reason why the American military adopted the M14 over the FAL since they though it would be cheaper to produce and train troops on it due to its similarities with the M1 Garand.
And don't forget that shortly before adopting the M16 the US had just rejected the AR-10 in favor of the M14. We clearly had a preference for iterative development of the Garand action over major innovations. Though a big part of why the AR-10 was rejected was because it wasn't made in house at Springfield, there's no reason to expect they'd treat Ruger any better than Armalite.

2:18, never knew the F/A-18 has a slide!
Damn they even get to throw in their own favourite mixtapes in the back, luxurious

I never knew that the vz. 58 existed and it is now my favorite gun oh my gawd.
I know that feel
It's like the best parts of an AK and SKS mixed together.
It's beautiful. https://i.imgur.com/kkawu.jpg It'd be my favourite AK clone if not for the fact that it shares zero parts similarity with the AK.
Not even the mag is compatible with the AK since this thing also has a hold-open-on-empty-mag device that utilizes the follower. However, I'm not clear on if standard AK mags fit into the vz.
They do not. You have to modify the locking tabs to fit.
The Vz.58 looks like the RC Cola of AKs. And it's glorious.
https://youtu.be/Td8RC40mTrs Alright I'll be honest, this is definitely the type of gun I would make if I had access to the necessary parts.
That thing is straight outta Star Wars.
All you needed was a scope and it would definitely look like the A-290 Blaster rifle.
