To be fair, in PSO2 the anime, the main character's character in PSO2 the game looks just like him because he actually is him. Somehow SEGA made technology that jumps across dimensions and they used it to let ordinary humans control flesh avatars fighting space wars in alternate universes and called it an MMO, and that guy is some dimension hopping weirdo who can bypass the need for a game client and just go between the two.
