Yeah I got de-ja vu when they showed them robbing a bank, and I remembered how hyped people were for heists in gta 5. I also remember heists being boring as hell.
Maybe I'm just bored of open world games as a genre, but when the main appeal of your game is "Unlimited choice", I'm not going to believe it's as true as you say it is in the trailers till I either play it myself, or see someone else experience it. You just can't cover something so broad in a small trailer.
I'm hoping the heists have more character given we can do it with a variety of people. The only place you could really rob in open play in V was those shitty lame 7/11s, a train robbery just seems more fun and something you can spot easier, while the 7/11s barely came to mind when I played V.
Because the console market is bigger, this is why they won't do an initial PC launch
However, there will be a PC release later most likely. And there might be an even later re-release for next-gen consoles. (Looking at GTA V being released 5 times, from last-gen to current-gen to pc)
So basically $$$$
I loved GTA V, but to be fair, they marketed it as having a living breathing world as well, and it ended up being lifeless and not very interesting to explore. I do have more faith in RDR2 though based on the hands on previews that the press got.
Same, but I thought most of the heists were pretty fun, namely the Blitz, the Bank and the UD.
Hopefully they won’t use them as big missions that make up for a shorter story like in GTA V
The only reason GTA V ended up coming out on next gen consoles was because the initial release was so close to those new consoles coming out. I think we still have at least another 2 or 3 years before we get a new console.
You seem to be forgetting that GTA5 had the exact same thing that you're saying is too much to believe. You'd come across random NPCs just standing around or doing something in the world, you'd approach them and transition into a cutscene, after which you would transition back into gameplay and either get some kinda task or just keep going. It's not really hard to believe that they just expanded that same system to have some choice in what happens. And I'm not sure where you're getting them advertising GTA5 as having big interactions and shit with pedestrians, that stuff was maybe an off-hand comment in some previews at most.
I think “unlimited choice” is a bad way for them to frame things.
Personally i think this will be a helluva good game but I’m not concerned about the “do anything” aspect of it. It won’t be there. It never is. What I do expect is a good story as Arthur and the ability to play him in a few different approaches.
Im excited for a large game built around the exploits of a cowboy, i dont really need it to do “everything”. Anyone expecting that will be displeased.
I hope it's coming to PC, can't wait to have a proper wild west open-world 3rd and 1st person shooter game. Got to say it looks incredibly immersive.
Imagine if Rockstar pulled a Kojima and Arthur is killed in the first 10 mins of the game and you actually play as Marston. That's why you don't hear much about Arthur in the first game.
To be fair, you don’t hear about anyone else in the gang outside of Bill, Javier and Dutch. Uncle isn’t even mentioned until he shows up.
PC has always been kinda second class with Rockstar, they're almost always catering towards the console side of things. They had a pretty bad track record at some point with various ports, and only with Max Payne 3 and GTA V did they really start making an effort to improve, but I still approach anything PC with them with caution.
I'm still mad about how disastrous GTA IV's port is, and how they'll probably never do anything about it.
Gonna be honest, the game looks fun but the marketing needs to be better. The woman's voice in the trailer felt more like lifeless corporate hype mongering rather than actual excitement. Why didn't they get someone who sounds like a gruff cowboy to voice instead to add immersion?
For better or worse, it has been Rockstar's staple way of making overview trailers since they jumped to their RAGE engine, and they always follow the same pattern of corporate professional narrated overview of the game, and these kind of trailers themselves being released few weeks prior to the game's launch, which also happened with Max Payne 3 and GTA V. The cinematic and story focused ones are usually what they do during announcement or it's still months before release.
Gonna wait for the game to come out and the hype to die down to see what its like. After not really enjoying GTA 5 I'm a bit sceptical of rockstar stuff now. Also want to see how bad the MT situation is gonna be.
These gameplay videos are narrated in 11 different languages and I'd imagine a gruff Korean guy trying to sound like a western outlaw would sound more comical than immersive. Plus a whole lot of effort to cast one.
They've been narrating them this way since RDR1's marketing. So obviously it works for them.
You really just can't accept that some people might have a problem with how they're portraying their product
I never said that.
If you thought GTA V RP was crazy, just wait til this shit gets onto FiveM.
Now I see why GTA Online went into late stage anarho capitalism-
This looks like it's going to be like and beyond the quality of Witcher 3
as fun as it looks, i refuse to support T2/rockstar with their scumbaggery as of late
To be fair GTA V RP still exists and is still run on it.
You say that now....
Then don't spend money online. Support good SP games.
I've been quietly hoping for this for a while now. The other day I saw this screenshot and now it's really hard not to get my hopes up.

RDR1 outfit, healed scars instead of freshly stitched like in the trailer. My dream is that RDR2 ends like you said with the post-game sandbox essentially being the beginning of John's journey in the first game.
All I care about is multiplayer
If the multplayer lacks 95% of the singleplayer features like RDR and GTA5 I'm going to be very upset
That’s your first mistake right there
You'll be living on the streets within a week if GTA V's multiplayer is anything to go by
