As much as people's opinions of J.K. Rowling go down and down by the day, I fucking love wizards and magic and I'm probably gonna pay close attention to this
So far we've got this, Spellbound by the publishers of Stardew Valley, and a Little Witch Academia game all coming out. Finally my thirst for some proper magic games is being quenched
It's only her twitter channel that she makes dumb statements. I'm sure she is more level headed in private.
no Merula no buy
Fuuuuuck I've been on a harry potter trip this whole week, reading the books, watching the movies. I want this to be a thing so damn bad,
Can we just please get a goddamn Harry Potter MMO? This has all the foundation work for it, if it's real. Character creation, open world, freedom of spells. Just... Goddamn it.
Idk, I feel like an MMO would have to make too many compromises for the sake of the genre and balance, I'd much prefer something more like borderlands or dark souls, where the single player and story is the focus and co op is just a nice addition.
I'd especially love it to be like Dark souls, it would be sick as fuck to get invaded by a dark wizard while cruising around the forbidden forest.
Would prefer an RPG in the veins of The Witcher than an MMORPG in the veins of World of Warcraft or Guild Wars.
Oh man Hogwartsrp is my one big guilty pleasure when it comes to Garrys mod right now. I could actually see a real Hogwarts mmorpg use that system for aquisition of spell and leveling characters, though.
Have you played Wizard of Legend? Fantastic little wizard game.
It's also the closest we'll get to a good Avatar game.
The Harry Potter books were some of my favourites growing up, the fact it was partially set in my home city was just so charming to me as a kid. I'd walk around London with my family imaging all the magic and shit that could be going on down each alley or just out of sight on each train station platform.
Ive always wanted an RPG set in the universe where I could create my own character and go to fucking wizard school, and explore the setting.
The Warner brothers involvement scares the shit out of me tho. I understand that it's a game based on a movie franchise but after the shit they pulled with Shadow Of war, I'm sure they will find a way to turn Ollivander's wand shop into a fucking lootbox emporium where you spend virtual currency for a 0.0001% chance at getting a dragon heartstring wand or some dumb shit.
lootboxes dictate your character's grades
you can either spend six hours levelling for an in-game exam you don't actually get to take part in or pay $2.50 for a chance at passing it
