be sad if FP actually shuts down, always really appreciated having the advice threads within arms reach, posted a lot of shit there I wouldn't talk to my friends and family about
been lurking here for almost 5 years now, and thanks to the trans thread here and the stories shared there, i'm starting to get my life on track and getting an appointment with an endo here in a few weeks! while i've grown attached to all of the posters here and all of the antics that have happened, it sucks to see that this might be the last few months of this place. I was always too scared to post here which is why I only lurked, but now that the fear of losing this place is here, I kind of regret not investing more time in posting and getting to know everyone... really hope in the end things work out and FP can stick around, because while no one here knows me, i've grown very fond of this place and am constantly browsing here throughout the day for videos and news. FP has become a very comforting place for me, would be a drag to see it go
I typed up a whole thing, but it was pretty much what everyone else has re-iterated. Garry was in a good place to lead the forum when it had strong ties to GMOD as it provided a good conduit between the community and it's admin, but that's been long gone. These forums kinda exist as their own thing now, and it'll suck to have to seek out new places to reside but it'll probably ultimately be for the better.
Bloody hell, how many things that I enjoy have to die off this year?
Will this be where we take refuge?

DON'T WORRY I GOT YALL COVERED
Faycepuunch
Don't worry it'll become more active if we all go there.
Facepunch has been my go to corner of the internet ever since I joined up back in 2013, and I'd hate to see it go.
Don't know where I'd go if it were to disapear, as nothing can replace what we have here.

This fourm is already dying
Garry, you're literally incapable of listening to other people.
You want to know if this shit is still relevant? ASK THE COMMUNITY AND THEN LISTEN TO WHAT THEY SAY.
Get off of your golden tuffet and actually listen to the community that helped build you from nothing to the incredible success that you now enjoy.
I genuinely come here everyday. I may not post often but I read a lot. If this place just poofs out of existence it would destroy a chunk of so many online experiences (good and bad), I have no idea where else I would find the sense of community that I have here, and I’ll certainly never find a forum even remotely close to Facepunch. I love all you fucking idiots on here, I don’t want it to die.
Reddit is awful as a forum replacement in general. The upvote/downvote system is inherently flawed and no matter how much they try to tell people not to its always going to be abused as a disagree button and encourage echochambers (Imagine if posts on FP were auto hidden after getting a few dumbs/disagrees) as well as forcing the 'most popular' comments to the top by default. The way posts 'decay' as well basically means a discussion has a relatively short time limit before it fades away never to return.
Things move too fast of things like Reddit which is nice if you are wanting to always see the hottest news or discussion on a particular subject but there's definitely a charm and a demand for old style forums that don't look completely different every day and you can go away for a few days, come back and quite easily catch up on all the discussions you missed/are interested in.
Hold a Kickstarter or something and crowdfund the money to pay some guys salary to work on the forums and interact with the community so you can wash your hands of it.
It would be nice if Discord had a forum type feature where you could make topics and reply to them. But I guess that's not the type of program that is.
No other place on the web is like this place.
I don't think any of us want to lose our internet home.
Reddit is cancer.
The issue with Garry is that he does not take criticism well at all, and thinks any negative feedback is a personal attack against him and reacts by having a tantrum, causing more criticism. Wouldn't be surprised if someone calling him out on it is what causes him to close this forum for good. Which would be a shame as even with the awful changes in newpunch I still visit it multiple times every day
Im a massive reddit user yet i still come here for discussions on some topics as the subreddits for them are cancer (mainly valve related stuff)
All discussions of the forums can be also discussed here;

because I'm a dumbass, I don't know how to do this, but could you add me at daniel_hodge204? It'd suck to lose people like yourself if this forum just randomly disappears when Garry has his next angry outburst.
Should this great bastion fall, another shall be built. We have a skilled community here, we can forge a new home. I do not fear for the end, I worry that this place will not be archived, and that some users will not find the replacement. I don't want to lose a single one of you.
I've been on Facepunch for a long time, longer than my account age. I've lurked for most of that time, making <50 posts in the 5-ish years I've decided to have my account. I jumped across with Newpunch, created accounts on FB and other places just so I can stay here. I battle to read it on my phone. I spend at the very least a couple of hours a day just browsing post after post.
Facepunch is a completely different place to reddit. There's a real sense of community and belonging. Opinions can be shared without being buried for going against the popular opinion. I can't express my love for this place enough. I'd be devastated if this place does end up getting the axe.
Whether we get to keep FP or not, I'd like to say thanks to all of you for making this such a great place to be. I love you all.

I feel like I truly grew up with this forum, the discussions and the way it operates overall just feels better than Reddit to me.
I still go to Reddit for news n such specifically, but in terms of discussion this forum is absolutely better than both Reddit and Discord.
If this site really does go under in the upcoming weeks/months, I'd just like to say thanks for hosting it all these years in the first place.
Look at all of the heartfelt posts Garry, you ended up creating something unique, please don't forsake it.
If you guys wanna add me before Facepunch (possibly) dies I'm here
I've been mostly lurking on these forums for about 10-11 years, but I'm gonna throw my 2 cents in. Like many others have stated, I spend time on Facepunch daily BECAUSE of the type of communication that this style of forum facilitates. I think the idea that this style of message board being outdated and is going away is absurd. Traditional message boards may not be as popular as they once were, but they still fill a very important space in the realm of online social communication that other platforms such as Reddit and Discord don't even come close to accomplishing.
You have built an impressive community of people and have given them a home and identity on the internet, like our own Facepunch tribe and village. No matter where we are in life, as long as we have a PC and internet connection, we can go be in our village to see what the others are up to. Facepunch is home to relatively high quality and nuanced discussion on a diverse range of subjects, entertaining jest and shenanigans, familiar faces and booby avatars, and most importantly, members who are passionate about the things they love. This all culminates in a wholesome community and posting/browsing experience that we all enjoy and benefit from, unless it goes away. Thank you Garry for creating this community, I just hope you can find a way to keep it going without it being detrimental to yourself. I would be willing to donate to keep servers running and whatnot.
FWIW, I think getting the subforums right will go a long way to improve the happiness and functionality of our community. A balance needs to be struck in creating forums/subforums in a way that segregates discussion so as to not have a forum of chaotic noise and fast-paced megathreads (ahem General Discussion), but in a way that doesn't split everyone up TOO much.
This is one of the few places I could work up the courage to post on. I'm gonna really miss this place if it goes.
Even if I never posted very often due to my anxiety, seeing and being a part of this community was an honor. You guys are the best.
Guys iust fyi stop calling out garry and insulting him please? I love this forum as much as anyone but you should be asking what we can do to transition or ideas for planning if the forum is shut down, not calling the guy who built this communities foundations an idiot for not wanting to put up with the ungrateful group of you who cant see this from garrys perspective. Ideas and suggestions only please unless you want to piss the guy off who has every authority to pull the plug at any time. Thanks.
Same here. When garry kills facepunch I will probably disappear from the internet entirely. This is the only public place I feel comfortable speaking my mind.
"Guys please stop calling out Garry for his ridiculous changes/temper tantrums when things don't go his way on the site and just accept them. Pls thanks."
