you did this
all by my hand
I'm 24 now. Been coming here since I was 11.
Aside from Letterboxd (which is on a MUCH smaller scale) this is the only sense of community I've ever had online.
I may not speak to most of you directly, but I love all of you and I find it impossible to put into words how irreplacable this forum is to me.
I wouldn't ever be able to read new Smurfy one liners that made the news not as depressing.
I wouldn't be able to read pages of my favorite people arguing about film in the sub-forum.
Hell, without Facepunch content creators like PGunnii wouldn't have had as much of a solid foundation to push their stuff to see what the community they love thinks.
I'm obviously just one guy, but have a look at these responses, Garry. This isn't just a "dated forum", it's a home. There's so many introverts on here that find it near impossible to interact with others, but this place gives them that sense if acceptance and community that they can't get anywhere else in their life.
The internet would be a very, very different place without this forum.
No he never did, but he has mentioned it at least 3+ times now.
What i would like to know, is when we are going to hear about whats actually going on
Yeah. Just found out he deleted all his tweets too. Something is going on, and I'm not even confident this whole deal is just about the forums anymore.
Facepunch is like 80% of my internet browsing tbh
My question is what will happen with S&box support if the forums go away? Every decent platform has a forum for their community. Garry's Mod could never have gotten as popular as it is without the development forums, that is blindingly obvious and if facepunch is going to continue to release games with mod support then a forum was and still is the best medium for a community to support each other around it.
im more afraid that not only facepunch is going to go down but gmod and rust and every other trace of garry in general is going to be removed in some way,im actualy worried about garry since the deletion of some of his tweets.
I'm sorry, but at this point the communities I have been involved with have been fractured so many times by rash decisions that there really is nothing left to save here for me. Durgs Discussion used to be massive, now you only get the same handful of posters in the Addicts' Lounge. My American Football thread used to be popular, we used to have wait lists for people to play Facepunch Fantasy, and now I just straight up have zero contact with half the people that used to play. Same with the urbex forum, same with everything in the end. The communities that I felt at home in no longer exist due to the incessant shuffling of subforums and mod decisions and servers alike. Losing the forum would be a colossal blow to the GMod community and the posters who have invested so much time and effort into cultivating Facepunch as a massive and friendly community. Someone should just open a crash pad vBulletin forum already so that people can hang out there when this place finally starts 404'ing.
At some point, Garry needs to make a decision to do what's best for him. Right now he keeps jerking us all around while he mopes about, and while I do deeply and truly feel for him, he has caused so much damage already that I'm not sure simply continuing to host the forum and giving someone else the keys can come close to repairing. Reddit is pure shit, Discord is pure shit, but we'll never be able to convince Garry otherwise. He's already made up his mind. It doesn't take much to see that.
It's like living in the rubble of a burned out, war-torn city. The walls are familiar, but you just can't shake the oppressive, dreadful emptiness of the whole thing.
Oh hey look half the forum is gone. That's cool.
RIP DD and almost everyone I remember from in there. Honestly I haven't talked to some of those guys in years. I don't even know if they're okay, most of them didn't disperse into the rest of the forums they just disappeared.
The few I have on steam are still logging in occasionally. No idea what their FP usernames are/were anymore though.
Y'all remember Roleplay Wonderland? I lost a lot of good friends back in the first major restructuring.
Whatever happens the facepunch community is still strong and i have confidence it will survive without facepunch if that day ever comes through other means even if its a new site or a site made by other facepunchers.
What's with the giant reduction in the number of ratings? 2.5 million less
Your answers can most likely be found within this video.

I guess the subforum merging somehow messed with the counter, the posts and ratings themselves should still be there(?).
It's nice that search is working again but because of the missing forums my post history is full of:
You don't have permission to view this result. It's probably in a forum that your account has no access to.
Can we at least bring back games in progress? The Minecraft server thread is missing
This is garry, we won't know till the forums are deleted. He won't warn us.
Wow, Facepunch has literally nothing now. Spent a good 10 years at the front of my bookmark toolbar, and with the recent changes found itself moved down, replaced by forums that still care about their communities. and Now, wish it would never come to this but I think it's time to remove the site entirely, as I do not wish for its final suffering days to be my freshest memories of her.
Ok I'm back from my other job and will be reading 20 odd pages of this thread
Is there any way to turn the forums over to the community? Give them entirely to hezzy or something?
Garry Thanosing half the forums
Hah, lightweight.
I just realized how many times ive tried to acess videos section today. Man if garry doesnt shut this place down the further combining of sections will do it for him.
I would really like an explanation as to why videos section was removed, it just makes me mad. Seems like change for changes sake.
