Having level 90fuckyou0 people being able to just annihilate lower levels is exactly what I was worried would happen.
Doesnt help that it looks super boring.
I'll probably play this eventually, but I just can't bring myself to play another Bethesda game until they fix their fucking optimization.
Even on consoles, Fallout 4 ran like complete ass, and that didn't change one bit when I tried the PC version, if anything it was performing comparatively worse since my pc has significantly higher specs than my PS4. Same goes for basically all other prior Bethesda titles, with the exception of Skyrim which ran surprisingly well even on my older, and much worse PC. Way too much stuttering and slow down.

Well, the majority of the game's development is being done by BGS Austin, rather than their primary Maryland office.
But then again, when BGS Austin was known as BattleCry Studios, they also helped in developing DOOM 2016's DLC, which includes maps that look like this:

I mean, I don't know if those who worked on the interiors in that F76 screenshot share some people as this, but god, thinking about this makes me appreciate the work of BGS's sister studios even more. The folks at studios like Id Software give a shit about their games while Todd is sticking a thumb in his ass and would rather put more effort into his E3 presentations than the actual products he directs that cost $60 and often need mods for a properly enjoyable experience.
I thought it was a DOOM wad at first honestly
That image is compressed horribly. The Greenbriar doesn't look nearly that bad in live gameplay. It's still gaudy as fuck but that's how the actual building looks.
Here's a video where you can see it for yourself.

I get that you guys are excited for the prospect of Fallout 76 to be shit so you can shit all over it, but at least try to keep things to reality.
The funny/sad thing is that their AI isn't even good enough to have ghouls behave convincingly in an MP environment.

Yeah, the Greenbriar looks gaudy, but that's not the issue.

Compared to this, the lighting is absolutely fucked so much that it's laughable.

The reality is that the game looks awful, live gameplay or not, nothing about this is pleasing to look at. And no "its just a beta" is not a valid excuse for this looking the way it does. What you see is what you're gonna get. Bethesda is just allowed to churn out these awful looking games on their decrepit gamebryo engine year after year, and im sick of them getting away with it. a 60$+ game released in 2018 should not look this offensive.
I guess the extreme frame drops, lazy worldbuilding and horrible vats system is just compression as well yeah?
I said the image is shit, not that the game was flawless. Don't put words in my mouth.
i've not seen such whining in ages
I'd have to get the Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch, which requires I buy all the DLC, so i'm kind of locked out of anything that isn't basic gameplay changes and new weapons/gear.
Somehow this looks like some bad Battleroyale game in disguise.
Maybe more towards DayZ side with those random encounters.
Like there is some story but it feels more like you just run around, shoot stuff and loot, then some misc crafting.
So much of it looks just weird, not sure if straight up bad, console gameplay doesn't help with the impressions but not sure I like it at all.
Keep in mind I'm not even that picky with Fallout, didn't have any huge issues with like FO4 or so.
"I get that you guys are excited for the prospect of Fallout 76 to be shit so you can shit all over it"
We have plenty of reason to call it shit, stop playing devils advocate.
I really have no idea how people expect the game to be properly supported post-launch.
Maybe they'll prove me wrong, but Bethesda are so lazy that they literally rely on their playerbase to fix optimisation issues and bugs in literally all of their major games.
Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout NV, Fallout 4.
Literally got next-to-no bugfixes or patches from Bethesda themselves, a vast majority of issues only got fixed by the (honestly incredible) people behind the unofficial patches for the game.
The only post-launch support Bethesda seems to want to offer for their AAA titles is stuff that people will give them money for, and quite honestly, if the game is like this a month and a half before release (build the video is from is apparently 2 weeks old), I really don't know if Bethesda will be able to push all the optimisations and bugfixes necessary before launchtime. This leads back to my biggest worry which is that Bethesda have never really shown any great aptitude for timely fixes to their games, and from the looks of things they won't be able to lean on the unofficial patch team and other modders this time.
Really wanted 76 to be good, but seeing the quality of the game this close to release, and knowing Bethesda's general lack of quality at launch and onwards is really leaving me worried for the future of the game.
Even worse, this is exactly the kind of game that would warrant some effort on their part in preventing modding, so fans probably wouldn't even be allowed to even fix this.
it looks like an empty rooty shooty game with no clear direction or goal.
why couldn't they make a fallout game first with co-op added on? that would've been so much better.
if anything, beth actively fucks the community by throwing the engine in the blender when they do update. So, in the act of trying to fix maybe 10-15 bugs, they break 50+ mods that possibly fix 100s of bugs.
I wonder if it's because they don't trust their engine with something as script-heavy as a mainline game with normal quests and stuff?
It's not really whining if people are just not interested and calling what they see. Your favorite movie might be jack and jill, doesn't stop me from saying I think it was shit.
christ i saw this and almost thought it was just a garry's mod map set to fullbright

From the FO thread. That's actually how it looks IRL.
Thank fuckin god they fixed the per bullet/shell reload functionality that wasn't there in fallout 4 for the lever action.
I hope the script extender is actually able to be made, only reason i'd touch this game is for multiplayer with the massive fuckin mods for fallout 4, assuming they get converted.
Multiplayer Fallout 4 New Vegas, hopefully.
Super Mutants weren't being made until one year after this game takes place, and only prototypes. Master didn't start mass production until 35 years after 76.
Can't wait to see how little they care about the rest of the series in this.
I can't remember if it's actually been confirmed yet, but it's at least speculated that they're more likely the Vault 87 super mutants, which started in 2078, according to the FO3 strategy guide. For some reason this specific bit of lore is badly documented on the most popular Fallout wiki, so it's no surprise that people miss it.
There's worse lore breaks in 76, like the Brotherhood of Steel being around at some point (and at least currently seeming to be the same group it's always been, though that may change when people find out more lore/Bethesda edits it out). At least super mutants have some existing lore to explain them being around, even if it's not something everyone agrees with.
Been said heaps already but its just FO4 but with a really empty and dull world without any proper quests, and even less RPG elements (there's some reduced damage mode apparently so I couldn't even role play as a raider/fiend which would have been great).
The enemy and loot variety looks really poor as well so its not like there's much motivation to keep exploring. It would be a massive improvement to the game if they just added friendly and hostile NPCs alongside human settlements.
All they had to do was a standard FO game (even on the same quality as 4) but with a focus on a coop element.
At this point the only thing I can possibly be excited for is that modders could probably port most of the content into FO4 unless the engine upgrades 76 received were made to prevent that.
That is if Bethesda would even allow that as well.
So far all I see is just a heap of wasted potential and it saddens me because a real fallout game set just after the bombs dropped with emerging survivor factions would have been cool as fuck but all I see is a husk of a world filled with generic raiders but stripped of the little personality raiders had. I don't even want to mention the mutants.
I'd absolutely love a coop Fallout.
No idea how it'd work, but I've love it regardless.
