You missed out on an amazing game then.
Not exactly any time you want, if the target is dead then you have one shot to escape. I've had more than one ET messed up because I've pressed Q to subdue a guy and he's suddenly turned 180 degrees to engage me in unarmed combat. Sometimes that happens when subduing from cover too, it's a fairly annoying little bug to happen during ETs or escalations, but at least the latter can be replayed at any time.
Ah good point
I don't get this attitude. There's no circumstance where you need to be up at 3AM to play an elusive contract. They're not available just for a day, they're available for a week. If you can't make time to play a 20 minute max mission in a week then you probably have bigger stuff to be worried about than a single mission in a video game. Listen, I agree. The time limit is shite - I've said that from the start in this thread. But I don't think it's worth just cutting out elusive contracts from Hitman 2 because they do give that extra bit of thrill to make them a bit more fun. It would be cool, no doubt, if they removed the time limit.
I can think of a couple of options. Every time a target is up, you get one attempt. You get this regardless if you log into the game or not, and it is cumulative. So you could come back to the game three months later and have a few elusive targets to go after. You get the "special reward" for attempting the target first week it's available, otherwise it's just added permanently to the game.
You're conceding the fact the time limit is stupid and the only thing I'm saying is that the time limit is stupid. I think we're on the same page. It would be cool if there was an ever growing list of Contracts every week. Every new contract each week would be added to the archive by the end of the 7 days; by Week 30 you have 30 unique little missions to choose from.
Or maybe my point was to highlight how poorly designed most of the elusive targets really are? Like it's not good content if it's the same shit of make a special npc give them two guards now make them patrol the map. Wew. Real innovatative shit. And really what's the point of demonizing fans of the series by downplaying the dislike for the elusive target system? Like it doesn't make you look good when all of your responses can be boiled down to "Wow you like hitman but don't like time exclusive content? Wow don't buy the game then nerd lol." And you can take just one look at the views of elusive target walk through and realize oh wow fuck there's a decent sized subgroup who doesn't enjoy this shit and would rather just follow a walk through to get the silent assassin. But please tell me and the other people in the thread how we are overexaggerating and that we shouldn't buy a game from the series we have come to love. Get a grip mate.
I do agree with you - that's why I started the 2nd paragraph saying that. What I don't agree with is the absurd amount of exaggeration in this thread. They're available for a week, so why pretend it's any less? Timezone's and shit don't get to come into play when they're available for that long.
Must be a real cushy life to be able to log into your favorite video game once a week.
Man, if that's all you want to take away from my posts then that's grand. I'll say this earlier into my post because you don't seem to be able to read further into my posts (in fact, i'll even bold it for you): I agree that the time limit is shit. I have said this multiple times already What I don't agree with is people bringing time-zones into the question, and "16 second content" bullshit. The game is great and doesn't deserve to be diluted down to that. What really grinds my gears though is people who go on like they're entitled to something else "because they bought it" (even if it's shit choice for the consumer, financially, whatever the fuck else - which again, I agree with) when the feature has been well enough described before people purchase the game. It's worth keeping in mind that the Hitman series was nearly to be no more before Hitman 2016, so I don't want people thinking "oh this game is shit" because of what sums up to optional extra content, when they've done a great job in general. Now can we stop this petty argument?
tbh the only ones that make sense to only have for a certain amount of time (not necessarily a week) are the ones with celebrity guest appearances, like this one or the one with gary busey and gary cole. other than those, elusive targets should at least be available to try once a day.
Most of them are only available for 48 or 72 hours, so not even a week.
