Guess it's time to move to Matrix. Or how about Tox? What the fuck have those guys been up to?
an adoption rate that's next to abandoned feels like. Might still get support, but there's one fatal part of it's cryptography last I remembered. Matrix is doing well https://matrix.org/blog/2018/04/26/matrix-and-riot-confirmed-as-the-basis-for-frances-secure-instant-messenger-app/
State owned messenger app? Hell no.
Congratulations for reading only the title. It's core reason, is to replace using ANY other messaging service by governing officials. Keeping France's political secrets in control of their own messaging servers

Apparently Steam has the same clause. Steam Subscriber Agreement Except when I tell people to make a stand and uninstall steam they shrug it off. I thought this was a big problem?
Because you're being an overdramatic wuss over a clause that wouldn't stand up in any court
I was mainly talking about people who make a fuss over Discord's ToS when they just turn a blind eye to Steam's. That's just hypocrisy, and I can't take this whole fiasco seriously because of it. If people really cares that much about it, they would be targeting Steam as well. But as far as I'm concerned, this is just a textbook case of sensationalism.
Terms of Service agreements have about the same value in court as a dried piece of toilet paper. They're a scare tactic to try and intimidate stupid people. Nothing more.
Discord always praises itself with transparency and being the good guy. The ToS change was at first only known to people who worked with the API. It is questionable if there would even been a app notification about the change if it wasn't brought up on reddit. For a time sensitive matter thats quite dishonest, so thats the first thing that makes this less sensationalist. A lot of people in general hoped or think they wouldn't need this kind of legal stuff, which in my opinion is pretty naive but it seems their whole gaming language etc got a lot of people. In addition their ToS has been brought up a few times in the past, so a change like that was bound to be picked up anyways.
