the Pokémon tv series is actually a very genius representation of life.
So as you all know, Ash wants to win a pokemon league but every time he gets there, he doesn't win. There is always at least one trainer who is better than him.
This is subtlety teaching children that, no matter how good you think you are at whatever you do, there is always someone who can do it better, always someone who can beat you.
Ash is the perfect embodiment of ourselves because of this. He wants to be the very best like no one ever was, but unfortunately, time and time again, there is someone who is better. We want to be the best at our jobs, skills, etc... but we never will be.
