Do we take our games for granted? Is it unavoidable? Is it even a bad thing?

I desperately want FP to become a more well known location without hopefully losing any quality. The place used to be so much more active than it is now. I suggested possible reasons but many people thought that my reasons were dumb in the past.
I thought that facepunch was too intimidating of a place to post in to the modern user and that it has too many unspoken rules which lead to many new people getting ultra turned off from it, and generated a somewhat nasty feedback loop of less and less people posting who were not elite posters that we see now, as a result we have a few ultra regular people posting constantly and the rest of the potential community being too scared to say anything.
Some people say that it was due to facepunch being poorly organized but I am not sure if I agree because 4chan and reddit are both labyrinth clusterfucks at first sight yet it does not seem to prevent enormous amounts of people from posting in them.
I dunno dude. I don't think practically having no standards makes those websites better than Facepunch. We're simply not made to cater to everyone (for example far-right extremists with no ability for human empathy, Garry what the fuck are you doing).
Like many people stated, it was really hard for me to pass up on those ridiculous sales on steam or during bundles. At some point, I just wanted to try new games without even knowing what they were about. Over the years I spent quite a bit of money on games that I never touched or barely played. For me personally, I'm always looking for that one game that can keep me hooking for a long time so that I don't need to buy anymore games but I realized that seldom happens.
Also, games became such a massive medium and it's so convenient to purchase a new title these days. Furthermore considering that I got a pretty good pay, I just buy stuff on impulse. The abundance of game took away a bit from the magical aspect that hooked me up on games. Most games apply extremely similar formulas or feel extremely identical, there are seldom games where I truly feel like playing something unique and refreshing.
I think that is very important. I lurked for ages, mainly in Gmod screenshot forums before going on to SH and Programming sections and posting. I have been around 12 years now, I pretty much grew up with the forums and I am sure I would cringe extremely hard if I were to look back on a lot of my posts (which is quite limited for the time I have spent here). These days no one really has the time or energy to devote so much time to a forum, back then FP was all I had. Right now it is so much easier to get a throwaway account, post one question on reddit then fuck off and get answers from a hundred different people.
That all being said, because of the time I spent here and how much it was a part of my life I would absolutely not want to see this place go. Not that I made it clear but I found great comfort in spending a lot of time on FP and posting randomly when I was going through pretty rough times personally and it was a huge release. I don't think I would replace FP with anything, just read more newspapers, ask the random odd question I have regarding tech or advice on reddit and don't share a lot of my passions with anyone.
I really cannot put my finger on it, I don't think it is something as simple as subforums are gone or there are no rules now, but I really do feel something about FP died with newpunch and it makes me sad. God even this reads like such a whiny bitch.
I just feel that having communities with the format of facepunch is quite important given how it feels. I am frustrated with the fact that this place may not be around for much longer and am simply trying to figure out what went wrong.
Garry is a force of nature, nothing nobody could have done.
That's more a description of human nature than of the worth of games specifically.
I am not sure if it's valid to talk about the price as being the deciding point of whether the game feels worth it to a human being or not. Gmod cost only ten dollars and that game is located very deep inside of my heart.
I feel that the crucially more important element is ensuring that the person buying the game is truly certain if he is going to play it or not, which is also why we mentioned that the humble bundle format is not ideal for that because it encourages clickbait impulsive purchasing instead of helping people make a truly comprehensive decision.
There's only a small handful of games in my library I haven't given a proper go, and I'm 90% sure I wouldn't particularly enjoy them cause they don't fit my favoured genres. Everything else, I've already played to death (most SP games) and they don't have enough replayability to have me come back. Or, it's way past its prime and its multiplayer, being the main or only component, is dead. I'd still be playing the likes of Eternal Silence, Dystopia and Firearms Source if others were, not to mention countless other non-Steam games. Still more, I've tried and in some cases played a lot of, before realising I don't actually enjoy them.
Do I take them for granted? Maybe. I'm just disappointed that few games are coming out these days to do something new, as opposed to a slightly different (and in many cases worse) flavour of something I've already played before - All the while sucking potential players from games I would still enjoy, in the case of multiplayer.
It's kinda funny, for the first time in a long time I bought a game at full price on a whim (SYTHETIK for 24$) and it turns out it's probably my GOTY. No matter how much you want to stay on the safe side sometimes you just have to get out of your comfort zone to find a game that clicks with you.
