There's dedication and then there's obsession. But if you're that interested, who am i to argue?
Being the YTP nut that I am, I'm disappointed he moved away from that hilarious shit that he did.
I forgot when I unsubbed but its probably been a long time ago.
I always love it when I get a SFM or YTP from someone that doesn't post a lot because it means they poured their sweat and blood and humor into that video.
Just finished. Crazy how fucked it's all gotten. I realized I was still subscribed to the main h3 channel and unsubbed- I hadn't watched anything of his in years anyways, but maybe he'll take notice.
I think this is a good example on how intrigue and drama on the internet should always be clarified and heard from all parties before coming to conclusions. Not saying the points made in the video are invalid, and as someone who haven't followed h3h3 in years and hasn't watched a single h3 podcast, seeing the interviews with Jimmy Lee, JonTron and how they treated ShoeNice were genuinely painful to see.
But a lot of things that are going behind the scenes never surfaces and there's most likely still a fine line on how much of the actual real personalities YouTubers have shown in their videos and keep in private, even compared to their 'real persona' they show in public. It's also hard to manage fame and responsibilities like William mentioned here, and with a long lawsuit they had to settle in the past, that definitely would have contributed and made things a lot more stressful and sour for them when approaching people, especially in their shows and podcasts.

sorry for off topic but it needs to be said
Ethan seemingly also needs a really high level of control over his own content which is simply not going to happen if you bring guests to a live podcast that can't be cut down or edited on a moment's notice.
I feel like the entire Jontron segment was just as much about Ethan being a cunt and about him panicking because he's not getting the reaction he expected so he's just going through every question on his google doc despite the fact they're all the same and that Jontron's answer to all of them is the same.
The whole "hope he comes back from it" is, I don't know, a bit naive? He has 6 million subscribers, most of his videos average 3+ million views. What incentive does he have to be nice that he hasn't had before? So many great youtubers out there, who could only dream of having Ethan's career, and probably would not use such a massive platform to publicly humiliate their "friends" or shame people for treating their depression. I don't sympathize with Ethan, and I wonder how many of his fans will act concerned only to brush it all aside when the 5th or 6th "I'm sorry" video pops up
I've played every Kingdom Hearts game.
No. Don't even pretend that BBS doesn't retcon literally everything you learn about the world in 1 and 2. Everything about keyblades. And Dream Drop Distance is intentionally confusing to the point where people going into KH3 will have 13 new villains they don't know from a single game who are now the primary antagonists of the series
And here it is:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oO95NQb-DcU&feature=youtu.be
30 seconds in and it's just "I'm mentally ill and I'm strong for admitting that"
To be fair he admitted to doing all the shitty things and being a dick and said that basically being a dick was why he was depressed, not that it caused it.
So i listened to all 45ish minutes of him talking about the recent videos, issues, etc. and general thoughts on the recent controversies. It felt...I don't know hard to characterize. I saw lots of very sincere moments, and some not so much. I feel really bad for him that he has to deal with the severe depression, and everything that comes with it. I'm in no position to understand how hard that must be. I'm glad he's getting help and taking the prescribed medicine, and that it's helping. On the other hand, there were a couple things that felt off, mainly the way Hila reacted to everything. She barely said a word for 45 minutes other than "ahuh" and "yea", and at the end of her husband bared his emotions to the world, and ready to take all the criticism that it'll no doubt bring, he asked her what she thought. She just goes, "uh. good." Like...is that really all you can say? It makes it seem like there is absolute no support system at home, at least from her side if that's all you can muster in the moment. Even a "I'm proud of you for coming out with your emotions" or "you did great."
Another thing that maybe Ethan doesn't understand is that the "hate" is actual personal hate towards him. He stated multiple times, "People either hate or love me" and it's not that they hate you, you missed the point of the recent vids. They hate what you've turned into, and hate the way you've treated other people. I think almost all the criticism videos have acknowledged that they're not character assassinations and rather an analysis into his changed behavior, and they're raising concern for him. So i still don't know if he listened to them, or really reflected as much. Although again I understand with the underlying depression, and he mentioned briefly a couple times that his issues with dealing with criticism step from his childhood, and that's about it. Also irked me that he didn't apologize at all for his behavior and how he treated some people. It's great to acknowledge wrongdoing but one step further of 'I'm sorry to those I've hurt or insulted" goes a long way I think.
Overall though, I think he did great in this video. He bared his emotions, didn't throw a tantrum or meltdown and kinda put it all out there so its a good step in the right direction. Acknowledging there's a problem and facing is the first step. I hope he continues to get the help he needs and continues to improve and to take criticism as a form of learning.
lmaoing at your lives that y'all find it hard to fit in a 90 minute video in your schedules. you need to get on my level bros. get on this rewatch all half in the bag episodes without leaving the house type shit. get on this watch 12 hour compilations of DSP fucking up type shit. i'm talking watch 100% speedruns of jrpgs type shit when you've got a midterm the next day. 90 minutes? bro that's the length of a fucking children's movie. are you a child? no? do some man shit and waste your life watching youtube videos, you basic ass normies.
This is one of the worst posts I've ever seen and I've been here since 2005.
So no banning for low effort posting anymore ?
I dunno, WickedPlayer's rant still takes the cake
Wickedplayer's rant was also genuine whereas this is some gimmick alt account that's not even really trying.
That ending was brutal. Great content cop, should totally meet up with iDubbz.
Funny and clever bastards who seem to be morally grounded, although I've only seen one Video Vigilate and haven't followed iDubbz in a while, so I cannot be certain of their authenticity.
Now H3H3, I always found him a little bit pompous overall, but enjoyed some of his content and collabs with iDubbz for example.
Having actually bothered to watch it, this is a gross misrepresentation of what he said
I'm more interested about whether he can snap out of it than the reasons why it happened in the first place though
i didnt really watch much of it, just caught a small part of it and decided i didnt feel like watching it
mind giving a tldw?
yep yep you can see that they're not "really being themseleves". But that's not an excuse to act like that, not AT ALL. Their attitude (and by their i mean him, becouse Hila really just does not know how to assert herself and just follows thru with Ethan's opinion. But I Feel like it's less of her unability to to stand out(which she can't lol, ffs she's been in countless episodes and podcasts but she still feels like an object) but more of her wanting to support her husband on anything. It's a really weird chemistry and i dont enjoy it in the slightest) is very oriented towards acquiring a good public opinion.
As seen in the video, whenever Ethan is put in a bad spotlight, he always retaliates. And if someone else get's put in a spotlight, he always make sure that he comes up on top and critizes that person to death, as he apperantly thinks that makes him better in eye of the public. Basicly they're really fuckign condesending on live cam. WHICH DOESNT MEAN THEY'RE LIKE THAT IN PERSON, but it shows that deep down in their heart they have some core values not in check.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is; the live cam is not for the unprepared. They thought that they were good enough of a person to just go on camera and ramble on into infinity without and issue - and this led into subcunsions fucked-up personal values leaking into the public, as they've never before been infront of a live audinece where EVERYTHING they say is recorded, and they are NOT the ones controling the narative of their video(podcast).
In a sense, one could say they are being more themselves than ever, becouse the subcunsious ego boost that the camera gives, the power you have to bullshit your narrative into millions of listeners, blinds your sense of right and wrong from the times when you were just a decent lad, and gets replaced with the I'M ALWAYS FUCKING ROIGHT attitude.
In conclusion; Always be critical of yourself, always question your actions and take a few steps back before saying shit, especially if you're taking the high ground.
He has always been insecure and has issues dealing with criticism which causes him to act arrogant as a defense mechanism, which in turn makes him even more depressed and defensive because he realizes he's being a dick to other people
Being in the spotlight just made this vicious cycle far worse than before and he only started taking medication in the last month or two even though he was prescribed to take them a long time ago and he's been going to therapy to get better
I don't know where you even got that impression but at no point does he try to deflect blame for what he's been doing
Youtube drama is fun but most people fucking suck with dealing with it and end up making things perpetually worse, which is where shit gets real grim for them
I don't want to just keep the hate train going, but I want to say, whether you like or dislike Ethan, whether you have hopes for him improving or not, keep in mind it's not night & day. Too many people act like "the apology video" is the moment where that's it, show's over, everyone can go home now because that drama is old news. That's not how it works, this is his 4th or 5th "I'm sorry", and what did every other one achieve? How many of them got deleted from his channel?
Admitting fault doesn't matter if you keep doing the things you had to apologize for, which has been Ethan's MO for years now. Maybe this will be the time where things change. I have to follow my own advice and know that, if he does improve, it'll be over the course of months, not as soon as the next podcast is up. I don't want to stop anyone from sympathizing with him and offering support. I just wanted to point out that a part of anyone's fanbase will be primed and ready to forgive before the first second of the apology video has even played, and Ethan's been in the game long enough to know that, so judge accordingly.
Agreed, i don't really understand how we got into this rut of accepting apologies from people that don't really do anything to deserve it. Most of us wouldn't blindly accept it from friends and family if we didn't see genuine sorrow and attempts to improve, why should we for a rando on the internet?
It can genuinely be incredibly difficult to admit that. Both admitting it to yourself and to admit it to the public. We act as if there isn't a stigma around depression but it definitely still is. Speaking from experience.
Seeing as Ethan spent a lot of his post-fame videos defending increasingly weirder cases while constantly berating an imaginary crowd of SJWs or taking outliers as the norm, I can see why people would be drawn to such conclusions.
Although the fault doesn't lie in him as much as it lies in actual alt-right shitstirrers like Metokur blurring the line between making fun of stupid people and pushing extremist viewpoints thinly veiled as comedy.
In that same breath he has also spent plenty of time going after weird cases of comments and actions that might be perceived as offensive, like his hypocrisy over Pewdiepie and others. Dude isn't alt-right or anything, he's just bouncing between subjects to get any views he can.
Imagine shitposting as a mod.
Actually a pretty nice vid. Glad it was bumped (CAUSE BOY I MISSED THIS) but it kind of puts all the pieces I already had in my head together. It's been said before but I just feel like the content lately has been kind of disingenuous, and since I don't care about podcast shit on top of that it's been burning me out. Had no clue how much of a knob Ethan was on the podcast though, yikes.
