Yeah its so weird going even going to Europe - my mates Ducati Monster just lives outside his flat, doesnt even bother with the steering lock. He knows it wont go anywhere.
I got weird looks when I went to Germany and chained my bike to a post, and had two disk locks on it.
In saying that, since moving to Scotland it seems like bikes are certainly not stolen as much up here, head into Glasgow city centre and you see fairly expensive bikes with maybe one small disk lock if that. Same sort of bike in London or even England would have chains, multiple disk locks etc
In Edinburgh bike theft is rampant. Foreign plated bikes are prime targets, with 125s and flashy sport-bikes a close second. Luckily my bike was mostly untouched. Although one time my week old front tyre was slashed (the bike was under a cover and chained to the wheels!)
It's put me off having a motorcycle left on the streets for sure.
Oh yeah I 100% would not leave my bike on the street, having a garage was a mandatory requirement for me moving up to Glasgow.
Funny enough though Glasgow doesn't seem to have anything in the way of theft compared to Edinburgh, I wonder why that is as you'd think 100% it'd be the other way around
Dropped my streetbike for the first time. Here's the worst of it.

But is the bike okay?
Hey y'all, I've been sort of half thinking about getting a bike for a while now. I really, really like the 80's naked bike / cafe racer aesthetic a la CB750. However what I don't like is the prices that 750's go for from what I've seen.
There's an 82 Suzuki GS650 for sale near me for $500 and it's mighty tempting. I've been talking with my buddy who's an instructor about getting my Motorcycle endorsement and commuting to work would be a hell of a lot more fun on a bike than in my tank of a truck.
Basically tl,dr I know almost nothing about bikes but like the 80's simplistic look. What do I need to know and where should I start looking & reading?
Yes, I was stopping to enter the street from a parking lot and the front wheel slipped out on a painted line.
My rear turn signal popped off but it's a rubber tube over a nut so I just stuck it back on.
