https://i.imgur.com/XJ8b6Aa.png Oh Jesus that's a lot of minutes. I have a job where it's playing practically all the time and at home I usually just mute it rather than actually press pause if I get tired of listening.

https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/112373/b3824ffe-6466-4c3d-96ad-7d84d436cf17/unnamed.jpg I spent a whole 12 hours listening to pup this year, which is wild to me.
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I SAW MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS LIVE IN OCTOBER FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE WHO IS INTO THEM
Was it in Montreal? I saw they were touring around then but I was so busy I didn't bother going.
Nah I saw them in Toronto
hey i like dregs too
https://i.imgur.com/givn1yG.png Funny, none of my top songs are by any of my top artists
A whole lot more variety on here than I initially expected to see. Impressed tbh
https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/110416/86a73da9-8e65-428f-9e61-94268dbb9ea9/image.png I have no idea how S3RL or Eminem makes it on to my list, i can't even remember listening to their music much.
https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/655/8be639b2-7d35-4970-86c5-91cbcfe2b646/image.png no clue how those are my top songs, and not sure how green day made it up there
https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/232992/e4d8edde-7717-479f-b6bf-eaf05174c10a/MySpotifyWrapped2018.jpg Pretty cool website. Didn't expect Jack Stauber to be every top song, I think I listened to Hilo and Pop Food for 2 weeks straight.

https://i.imgur.com/hmgUek3.png I like metal
https://i.imgur.com/cWdWhRP.png Yeah, seems about right.
ROUND TWO! @Owlex Moon River -- Frank Ocean Frank dropped this track the day after Valentine's Day. It's actually a cover of a song written by Johnny Mercer -- also called Moon River. This feels really modern and fresh in comparison. It does enough to differentiate whilst still also holding true to its roots. Really show's Frank's genius as a musician. Put this on my own playlist! @JerryK -- This is Home -- Cavetown This guy'll be going places if this is what he's putting out at age 19. I think we'll be seeing his name a bit more in the next few years. Love maj7 chords. They're just fantastically versatile for whatever you want to write. Once he really hones down on his style, he's gonna be something special.  @Scoops -- Humility (Feat. George Benson) -- Gorillaz Can't go wrong with Gorillaz. I think this album was loads better than the last one they put out. My favorite part is when they release the compression @ around 2:00. Damon's got pipes of steel, man. @derpmeifter -- Dislocated Day -- Porcupine Tree Appropriate this comes after Humility. The lead singer sounds very reminicent of Damon. Really like the tribal drums going off in the background. Did you know that Steven Wilson worked with King Crimson, Pendulum, Jethro Tull, Yes, and other big names? He's also self-taught. He learned guitar, keyboard, audio-engineering, and producing all by himself. He clearly loves what he does and it shows. @Dopy Sesame Street (Extended Version) -- Joey Trap Oh my goodness. This was a lot. These are very aggressive muppets. I really like the rhytmic shifts Joey does between the sixteen notes and the triplets. I like it when the subject matter is contradictory to what's happening in the background. I like the name of the album: Misadventures of Trap Jack.  @Big D Duchovny -- Oh No -- Electro Deluxe I'm surprised I haven't heard of these guys before. This has a pretty neat music video of them cruising down the river on a barge playing the song. If that were me, I'd be scared as piss of ruining my instrument. Very well executed from a musician standpoint. I bet these guys can really play when they let loose. @hak -- What Would Meek Do? -- Pusha T The beginning, muted interlude before Kanye comes in sounds like The Heart of the Sunrise by Yes slowed down a couple of clicks. My favorite line from this is "See, I did it my way, the proof's in the bricks," which, according to Genius, is making a reference to Pink Floyd's The Wall, which makes a reference to eating pudding. It's interesting to look at Kanye's lyrics about the MAGA hats -- especially after all the stuff with Trump. I wonder if he'd change anything in this if he got the chance. @pr00ch -- Blue Jeans -- Lana Del Rey: A melancholy song about melancholy love. She has a great voice. Very nostalgia-esque. Lana Del Rey had a whole bunch a stage names when she started -- like "Sparkle Jump Rope Queen." She kinda just popped out of nowhere.  @ignhelper -- On Melancholy Hill -- Gorillaz Great roadtrip tune. Like I said before, the singer just knows how to put it in the pocket every time. Plastic Beach is my favorite album behind Demon Days.  @pebkac -- Entities -- Job For A Cowboy: I must admit I'm not too much of a death metal *connoisseur* so this seems like a good place to start! Achieving a good death growl can be done in multiple ways -- it's also easy to shred your vocal chords if you don't do it right. It's important to have a good balance between tension and air pressure. Too much and you sound gets dampened. I don't know enough to tell you where this guy fits on the spectrum, but he's definitely versatile. It's hard enough to jump octaves without a massive amount of tension in your throat, but he just sorta glides up and down the staff. That must've taken a lot of practice! @sepu -- Reach for the Summit -- Lena Raine It can be really easy to phone in video game music. It's a challenge to put together enough material that players don't notice it looping whilst not not being distracting. There's two ends to this spectrum: If you don't want to write a whole bunch, you can really "lean in" to a couple of melodies a la Toby Fox and just compose the shit out of them. The other option is you make very free, open music that you can lightly solo and put things over like in BOTW and other AAA games. If I had to place this on the spectrum, this'd go somewhere in the middle. It's free enough that it's comfortable in doing a lot of different stuff, but doesn't drift too far from a couple of key musical idea -- mainly the piano in the back sprinkling arpeggios throughout. The rising motif really conveys the idea of surmounting a tough obstacle. Very fitting for the subject matter. @Shaps -- Caroline, Please Kill Me -- Coma Cinema I'm not sure how I feel about this dog. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/110232/a350fe17-1d9b-4623-8631-8399933d4e51/image.png Cothran started writing music pretty early, from the looks of it. This song knows what it is: short, sweet, and to the point. Like the use of synths towards the end to fade out. @🍆Sgt Doom🍆 -- The Last Stand -- Sebastion This song goes 1 to 100 reaaaal quick. The lyrics are what's on the tin -- which I like. No need to hide behind complicated metaphors or fluff. It's very much here's a story about the Swiss Guard. Take it or leave it. Most of Sabaton's music seems to be centered around recent wars. It's pretty clear they're going for a modern-day bard feel and they do a damn good job.  @Venomousbeetle -- Ridin' Solo -- Jason Derulo I can't hear this without thinking of the Star Wars Just Dance game. Jason has a lot of deep influences with his music. He's mainly pop, but he can pull off a lot of different genres when he wants to. It can be easy to think of mainstream musicians as one-dimensional but there's usually more to them than meets the eye. I know for a fact Jason can sing like a motherfucker when he wants to, but he has the confidence to auto tune for the effect.  @lope -- Paramedic! -- SOB X RBE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QU-Kf7ZIYI This has heavy allusions to Black Panther. It really seems to really emphasize with Killmonger. It can be tough writing songs with six people, but they pull it off really well. Each rapper has their own identity that really contrasts well when put against the others. The abrupt ending always catches me off guard.  @Nask -- Big City Dream -- Brother Firetribe This was really jarring to listen to right after Paramedic. It goes from a gunshot to 90's rock sound. This feels like a band out of time in a lot of ways. It's a fitting tribute to the genre. If they were around 40 years ago, I bet they would've been big.  @Swilly -- Citymulation (feat. Perturbator) -- Tommy '86 Straight kickin' from top to bottom. Very bright synth sound. One of my favorite sounds of all time is just listening to a drone slowly pitch up and down, hitting every note in between. It's a hard sound to reproduce if you don't do it digitally, but hearing it grind against the other notes as it slides is goosebumps. @EddieLTU -- Auckland Sunrise -- Fred V & Grafix I'm gonna guess you found this in Forza Horizon? Great guitar lick in the opening. Very distinct -- very clean. Would love to hear more of it throughout the piece.    @Coldmute -- Rauta -- Korpiklanni: D&D: The Finnish metal band. This song has nymphs and shit. That's awesome. I love the subtle accordion sound going in the back. Most metal bands slowly turn to folk music but these guys actually started as a folk band and went metal. It gives them their own distinct flavor; less metal and more folk. It really comes through in the instrumentation. This band's clearly versatile.

just to clarify @Dasein you're picking one out of the top 5? Or the no. 1?
Playlist is updated! It is now a whopping five hours and thirty-two minutes long with 78 tracks! @Zombii @Reagy You guys are on here, too. Since I didn't have anything specific I just picked something from one of the albums you posted. Probably not gonna take from anything outside of FM and spotify so don't just post a song and be like yeah I listened to this a lot I guess.
If you're gonna do that AWOLNATION song for mine (Table for one), do the normal version w/o Elohim
but you picked my goofy number 3 and my number 1 is so good
I only put Friday on there because Thirteen is on my own top 100 playlist
Fine fineee Motion Sickness by Phoebe Bridgers is my no. 1 still, but hey can't get mad at Freaky Friday making it
As if it wasnt clear I am THE whitest person on this forum: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/237464/3ff10abe-4567-4c60-97b3-7d71ec0d82bb/MySpotifyWrapped2018.jpg
I see we've got another Jeff fan here https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/524/10406776-cc73-49db-a925-fd0f88265b4c/939eccec1fd8e6360d3b712918c2bf34.png
Spotify and I have a very different view on what is considered pop. I would say that of what I listen to almost nothing is pop. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/208214/47805652-cb3e-4f13-ae72-2155e69a83d3/Skärmavbild 2018-12-07 kl. 09.46.17.png https://open.spotify.com/playlist/37i9dQZF1EjrCR2loEgCdQ
