I think they are doing pretty well.
People playing the game does not translate to revenue, especially when they continuously shoot themselves in the kneecap with regards to their primary source of revenue.

In fairness smart re-usage of assets is a pretty good way to save on development time and resources, especially when the same assets get the job done and is consistent with the rest of the game's visuals. Same goes for anytime they re-use generic props like crates and barrels.
I was going to ask how the hell they got Source to handle a hundred players and giant maps. But no, it's 16 players, 18 in a stretch. More like Last Man Standing, with some typical 2018 survival elements tacked on.

The best gameplay aspect of Danger Zone is that every bullet counts. When you take ammunition from ammo boxes, you can only get 1 bullet per take. In this mode you don't spray. You are pretty much running around with a max of magazine around.
they're working on moving CSGO over to Source 2 afaik
I bet you they haven't even been actively developing Source 2 the last few years, because 75 percent of their development staff has been working on fucking Artifact. That's what happens when your company structure is based around cliques that gain employees based on how much profit they make, because those cliques are the ones who get the biggest bonuses and are least likely to be fired.
