That "Don't" was as menacing as Mr. T's "DON'T or else!" from a drug PSA.

That intro is pure fucking art. Woolie never ceases to raise the bar.
Anybody else not really liking how "hot take-y" the podcast has become? It seems like every episode Woolie and/or Pat say something really kind of unnecessarily aggressive with some of the "takes" they're making. Even more so than they were during the SBFC days it seems. It kind of makes me miss the days when Liam was always "devil's advocating" some of the silly takes the others made.
yeeeah it's kinda part of the reason I don't listen to them anymore.
Woolie proclaiming that Homecoming, Spider-Verse, and the PS4 game to be the "definitive Spider-Man trilogy" despite none of them relating to each other at all besides "Spider-Man" was some next level mental gymnastics.
I absolutely hate how Pat is trying to justify his thoughts on George RR Martin working on the books and calling him out as being "a terrible person". Pat is such a fucking manchild at times.
I haven't been listening to castle super beast, but woolie having bad takes and pat being a manchild is hardly new. Has it been that bad?
It's gotten a bit worse without anyone to step in I'd argue. Before I found it bearable because they knew to keep that stuff on the down low unless they were doing a bit, but they kinda just don't care anymore. I'm probably overreacting but yeah.
Yeah I ducked out after a few episodes after it just devolved into them just rambling about whatever is in the news that week. Its not funny or entertaining to listen to.
I mean maybe this is a bad take in and of itself but a lot of time someone else "stepping in" was Matt's getting upset over the weirdest points or Liam's self-righteous devil's advocating until the topic just awkwardly peters out. I think the podcast now is better than it was tbh and i feel maybe some of the frustration is that because Matt's not there they're still trying to fill the same amount of time but they don't have that third persons life stuff or conversation points to work off of and fill the gaps with as well, if that makes sense.
I mean, as other people have said this behavior is hardly new. Woolie even has considerable pushback when Pat is discussing his stance on GRRM and finishing the books, because it's so absurd. Hell, even PAT admits it's absurd, which he does frequently for his "Pat-isms." Personally I like the new podcast more, simply because they spend more time just BSing about stuff, and those were always the best parts of the old podcast. The news stuff was hit or miss, from the perspective of it not being current or relevant.
my favorite part of the Castle Super Beast Super Friends Cast is that they don't spend a shit tonne of time talking about friends that aren't mine or places I don't know. IT was particularly annoying when Matt would talk at length about hanging out with his family or his wife. Usually those stories went on too long and were the result of "had to be there" moments. I know a lot of people that listen to podcasts do so because they're friend replacements, so they dig that sort of suff. But I legitimately just care about hearing them riff on the news, and talk about media I enjoy. I have no interest in hearing about their personal lives unless it's relevant to a conversation, or interesting enough (like a trip, or going to a convention) that an actual story can come out of it.
They really need guests on the podcast at this point.
I enjoy their rambling, but aye, it's about time they start getting some guests on
It's true. And if it isn't, Crazy Talk makes sure to correct it.
I need my plague of gripes fill.
I honestly never got into the podcast or SBFP beyond a Let's Play series or two until I started listening to every Castle Super Beast. Pat certainly is a character and Woolie dies on more hills than are reasonable, but I don't mind it at all.
Don't spend meter tho.
it definitely better than Matt wasting 40 minutes talking about literally nothing, or being drunk, or not being there at all, and Liam getting crazy, and not in the Pat way, about the dumbest shit imaginable
Chewie and Fuckface are some of my favorite people to follow so there's bias there but I enjoy their talks in general so I never minded ramblings. But I do agree that they should get some guests soon, seeing Vinny pop up on the podcast was like a crossover event for me. With Woolie going to Japan soon and Pat mentioning he'll figure something out maybe we'll get Paige or Plague on the podcast
Or, god help us, both at once
