you know how, following ww2, the red army liberated most of eastern europe from the nazis, czechoslovakia included, whereas the US army liberated the west?
well, 3rd army's 16th armored division got further east than the rest and ended up liberating pilsen, czechia, and helped rebuilding before the reds got there

https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1891/3868c6d5-400c-442a-b564-c1d549e1f0c8/image.png
so this liberation monument, displayed on American Ave. in the center of town, is unique in czechia and slovakia, since the rest of the two countries got liberated by the soviets, and nobody's awful grateful to the soviets for... anything
liberation day is also uniquely celebrated in pilsen, with vintage ww2 US army parades and tons of US flags and shit
and umm yeah then there are these shitty tinfoil fountains noone likes I guess

If you believe in spooky stuff then Charlottenborg's Manor in my city is just for you!
It was built in the mid 17th century by General Major Ludvig Wierich Lewenhaupt and named it after his wife Charlotta who also known as the White Lady, one of the manor's ghosts.
She died some years before him and her body was mummified and placed in the kitchen for three years where she awaited the death of her husband so that they could be burried together.
In 1900, she showed herself to a painter who depicted her on a glass window pane in the stairwell, you can still see the depiction today.
There is also the Black Lady which is thought to be a maid mourns her dead baby, she can be seen roaming the manor park.
Today the place is a museum, one of my old teachers from kindergarten and his wife works there, sometimes in the corridors you can hear babies crying and people also claim to have heard a carriage with horses comming up the gravel path to the front of the house without seeing anything. There is also a large vault in the basement that was bricked shut some 300 years ago and nobody really knows whats inside, but it's believed that Adam Ludwig Lewenhaupt (The son of the guy who built the place) sent home some Russian prisoners of war during the Great Northern War who where immured.
I've been in there a couple of times, regardless if you believe is supernatural stuff or not the place still has quite an interesting story.
For a dusty bum-shart town, there's at least a little going on for us.
For starters, between here and Portales is the Blackwater Draw archaeological site, where "Clovis Man" was discovered. If you ever hear about historians referring to "Clovis Points", they're referring to a type of arrow/spear-head that was first discovered here. IIRC, Clovis Man was one of the oldest Paleo-Indian fossils recovered.
https://www.thoughtco.com/blackwater-draw-hunting-in-new-mexico-170385
There is also a Blackwater Draw museum located between Clovis and Portales, NM.
We're also home to the Norman Petty Recording Studio/Norman Petty Museum, where Buddy Holly and the Crickets got their start, and many other artists recorded their albums. If you're a music/music history buff, that'd be a neat place to check out if you ever found yourself stuck out here.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjWHyiH7Vuo
We also have what people refer to as "historic Main Street", full of all sorts of shops and small businesses (but mostly clothing stores and real-estate offices if we're honest), as well as the Lyceum Theater which, sadly, is still under renovation/they're deciding on what to do with it, but Shirley Temple is said to have performed there many years ago, and the whole street looks almost as if it's been frozen in the 40's/50's, if not older than that, so if you're a fan of old architecture you might find that interesting.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyceum_Theater_(Clovis,_New_Mexico)
We were also the site of at least a couple of movies that were filmed.
The first I can recall is "Believe In Me", set in the 60's about a girl's basketball team.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikvlzOC-oIQ
The second, most recent (and better known) film was "Hell or High Water".

People were pretty psyched about "The Dude" being in town for that one.
The statue of the founder of the city, Jakub Wejher, when covered in snow looks like a statue of Darth Vader

nah dude there's some cool shit here in Calgary. There's this spot at one of the elementary schools that with some muscle and teamwork you could climb on the roof out of sight from the supervisors and the teachers used to get so fuckin mad at me and my friends. There was also this one spot in the courtyard of a middle school where I gave my friend some yogurt and he threw it at the 2nd story wall and the ensuing yogurt stain lasted on that wall for at least at least the 3 years we were there and eventually nobody was allowed to eat lunch in the school courtyard cause like 90% of us were just there to fuck around and vandalize shit. There's also Peter's Drive-In, that place has the most kickass milkshakes.
If you're looking for other cool places, you could also try talking to the homeless guys outside of each and every walmart in this city. I bet they know of some cool places. Idk why homeless people sit outside the wal-mart, the people going in aren't there to spend loads of money and the people working probably get paid in the negative digits.
The cisterns in Copenhagen are quite cool - they're basically oldish (1850s I think) water reservoirs that are now used for art installations:

It's a bit more expensive than I think it should be, but it's definitely a bit unique, not super well-known, and well, cool.
"The Rochester area has been the birthplace to Kodak, Western Union, French's, Bausch & Lomb, Gleason and Xerox"
"Notable individuals who were born in and/or lived in Rochester include Kodak founder George Eastman, American social reformer and women's rights activist Susan B. Anthony, African-American social reformer and abolitionist Frederick Douglass, Olympic soccer player Abby Wambach, opera singer Renée Fleming, jazz singer Cab Calloway, mandopop singer Wang Leehom, actress Kristen Wiig, Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, NHL ice hockey player Ryan Callahan and popular YouTube personality Jenna Marbles" LOL at that last one. Dan Lilker also lives here and I have had the pleasure of meeting him on several occasions. He is an original founding member of the famous Heavy Metal bands Anthrax, Nuclear Assault, and S.O.D.
I guess Rochester, NY was also one of the larger hubs in New York State for the Underground Railroad during the 1800s. Since we're so close to the border of Canada a lot of runaway slaves were guided toward Rochester by the Railroad and would often get to meet Fredrick Douglas himself before escaping into Canada.
Another cool fact is that Metallica recorded their first album at Music America Studios in Rochester.

Also David Bowie got arrested and had his famous mug shot taken here.

My city (Calgary) has the national music center, which is like a huge museum/performance hall/recording studio/event space dedicated to music in Canada. I spent a good chunk of my life volunteering with them, back when they had their tiny old space.

Built in 1942 and promptly bricked up and sealed thereafter, the rusted bolts on this door are all that hold back the unknowable horrors of Tāmaki-makau-rau. The exact nature of this evil is a truth known only by the eldest warriors of the Ngāti Whātua tribe.
It's actually the door to an air raid shelter system made of about 3.5km of underground tunnels that were never used. The tunnels were filled in by the war's end, but recently there's been plans to dig them out again and convert the entire thing into a Metro 2033-esque underground commercial district.
Tullahoma, Tennessee got 1 gigabit internet before most of the country - hell, most of the world. And, as I've mentioned before: we're in the south, and we're not exactly urban, but our long-time mayor is a registered Democrat who is gladly willing to marry gay people.
This is very interesting to me for reasons most people here probably don't share, hehe.
There's a swamp nearby that's able to make the whole city smell like satanic shit.

Our airport has the most takeoffs and landings for a single runway in Japan!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Msy_gGLBv4
Also, bus.
http://crossroad2432.cocolog-nifty.com/blog/b657c3eb.jpg
Lots of bus.
http://photohito.com/photo/5260014/?cid=icotto_presses
So much bus, that there are traffic jams caused by the single company that operates all these buses. Very convenient though, wherever you go in the city there are buses that go to the city center.
On another note, there are a lot of startup companies because of the city's support, and possibly because of that, it is the only area other than Tokyo where the population is increasing in Japan. Level 5 (Yokai Watch, Professor Layton, Ni No Kuni) has their headquarters here, but that is probably the only company that I can think of that is famous outside of Japan with headquarters here.
As for tourism though, there is nothing particularly exciting. If there is anything to brag about, it would be outside of the city, like the Dazaifu Tenmangu shrine dedicated to the academic god in Shinto. It is tradition for us to go there to pray for success in entrance examinations.
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e6/Dazaihu_keinai.jpg
Even then, we somehow get a lot of Asian tourists in the city, particularly Korean, Taiwanese, and Chinese. Probably because of the shopping, there are a lot of places to shop here.

God bless Liverpool
Here in Lynchburg we have a variety of smaller things I think. Nearby-ish is the National D-Day memorial, we have a statue of a Doughboy from WWI downtown with an inscription, and we have Liberty University, which isn't as cool.
Liberty University is a big Christian college that has a lot of students and run a good chunk of the town. Their logo is branded on the hillside and you can often drive around and find something that they own. I dunno if Lynchburg would be as big as it is without Liberty, but I don't like them.
There's also a Civil War story that my US history teacher told about how the Confederate didn't have enough soldiers to defend Lynchburg from the Union, so what they did was have trains drop off the same groups of soldiers over and over again throughout the day and have a band play and people cheering to give the illusion that they had more troops than they really did and I think it worked.
Southampton: it's where the titanic departed from, where benny hill was born, it's where the spitfire first flew from, and i think it's the city that made fish fingers popular. also i think some scenes from 24: live another day were filmed here
