There's lots of players who say they are doing something and roll for it on the spot instead of asking the GM. Then they can hoot and holler if they roll a 20 and say "GM, GM, nat 20, you have to allow it!"
It sounds like a joke but I've played with people like that. It's just as tiresome as it sounds.
