Its likely a test bed for TF3 if anything.
Gotta remember they were forced to move to frostbite and getting that pile of shit to do the same movement that source could is likely hell.
I mean... I dunno how to feel.
Titanfall and Titanfall 2 are some of my favorite FPS games, and a Titanfall BR could be decent.
But under EA? I have little faith.
Maybe with them being in a shaky situation, they wont try and pull as much bullshit as usual.
Oh who am I kidding. If anything they'll double down.
This channel sucks balls, so i'm taking this with a grain of salt.
This is the only thing I can really believe about this.
Titanfall is one of the only shooters that I feel really nailed movement. Just getting around in either game is pure bliss
Are they seriously switching to Frostbite? Titanfall was a game built around mobility in the source engine, a swap like that would completely kill it.
When EA bought out Respawn they were immediately told to swap to Frostbite, all the EA owned studios are forced to use it sadly.

There's nothing inherent to a game engine like Frostbite that means your characters have to move like paraplegics going through rehab. That's entirely up to how the movement controllers are implemented. Most of the time the default for an engine is good enough for like 90% of the games on that engine with some edge cases for extra movement features.
There's no reason this couldn't work on Frostbite. Assuming DICE have finally actually started to document and provide better tooling for the engine. ME: A was a fucking mess because of a lack of tooling and assistance after all. Though it will probably be a bit weird for Respawn to move from Source, the workflows are nothing alike.
If they can get it working on Frostbite, I think it'd bring a fair bit to the series. Titans are fucking hulking great things, but due to the limitations of Source they can't really break shit on the maps. And whilst it's important that key pathways in a TF map aren't brekable as Pilots need a method to get around safely, smaller things about the level having destruction physics could be quite interesting. But not required.
Yeah breaking buildings and walls would suck for players on the pilot-side, but stuff like crushing cars as you trample over them would be dope.
Might be cool...? If it means a Titanfall 3 is made.
Would rather have Titans however instead of just "hero abilities". Think Titans would make a BR game interesting.
Gonna be genuinely surprised if it is actually running on their old custom source build.
Considering how EA forces their studios on Frostbite, Respawn must have either REALLY pushed to keep what they want and EA somehow gave in if true.
Without titans I don't see how this game is gonna succeed. There's a bunch of military themed BRs already. If they added in titans it would've stood out more of a chance in such a crowded market.
Why even bother if there aren't any titans in it?
Even without Titans, I wonder if they are going to add grunts into the battlefield. The pacing alters dramatically if so and would be interesting to at least experience it.
DICE, the fucking developers of the engine, can't even get vaulting right since Battlefield 3, and we're still seeing issues eight years later where you can't climb objects, or jumping just... puts you in weird places
I honestly have no idea how the hell they haven't managed to get that right yet. They've had several games at this point. I know it's not a super vital feature of the games, but it's pretty ingrained into the movement mechanics.
The Battlefield games have aggressive lag compensation and I don't think it likes the vaulting animations. When you're running around normally you'll occasionally get knocked back a few steps. I think the sudden change of the x and y axis positions confuses the host and it tries to reset you to the spot before you vaulted.
There were people who kept saying they never encountered the infinite vaulting glitch.
They have to be lying or bling because it happens in every Frostbite Battlefield. It happens to me every fucking match
