I turn 25 today. Oh boy
Holy shit, replacing the power supply actually makes this PC boot properly. Just to test, I tried booting it with the old one first before replacing it, same no-reaching of POST. Also this new one has removable cables so it's much tidier. All a bit moot as i'm getting replacement parts from a friend on Friday, but good to get some life out of this PC to e.g. back up some Dark Souls saves I forgot about (specifically SOTFS and 3)
Gonna go watch They Shall Not Grow Old.
Man, Goblin Slayer is fun. Happy Bday Poke.

Man, fuck Maduro. I try to understand others people opinions, but there are somethings that aren't right... Nor wrong. But the middle option isn't possible. Still, fuck Maduro.

I just found out that Windows 10 apparently has emojis. How long has that been a thing?

Hold the fuck up, it's been a thing for 2 years? God damn, either my computer never installed that update until recently or I'm blind as fuck, because I literally only just saw the prompt for it today when I right-clicked in a chat box here on Facepunch.

Hello .
they shall not grow old was v good
It was pretty incredible. I'm glad I stayed for the making-of bit after the end. Some of it was really impressive, like finding the speech that the officer was reading to his men so they could record it. Having decent-quality footage with synced sounds running in the proper framerate really does a lot to connect you to the time.
i forgot i was even watching the restored footage after a while. it all came to life in such an amazing and haunting way. one of the few times i've been in a movie theater where every single person stayed put to see the after-credits material.
Also I've just started writing a little machine learning library in Python. It feels like the first real thing that will make a sizeable project that I've done purely out of interest. I hope I get it into a halfway-decent state so I can show it off on my Github and improve my resume.
the amount of work put into it was incredible, talk about a top-notch preservation effort.
I loved that they kept the footage unrestored for, what, the first 20-30 minutes? For a while I was like "Oh, is this what they managed to get? Looks alright I guess." Then when it switches to the restored footage it's like a kick in the head.
i love that bit, he's just so casual about it. "so i grabbed my artillery guns, like anyone would."
fuck this shit I'm sick ughghghghghg
just dont be sick?
who else wanna buy some land and build a lil cul-de-sac and be neighbors with ur bffs forever
the part that really killed me was the audio excerpt from the vet who talked about having to shoot a fellow soldier after he was ripped up by artillery shrapnel. it was essentially "his arm and leg were blown off and his one eye was hanging down on his face, and he was screaming for his mom. so i shot him...and it hurt me." i can't imagine actually going through that.
