You fell right into my highly calculated trap.
I posted the Twitter Can't Do Maths™ image solely because I knew Facepunch would be flung into a debate about BIDMAS/BODMAS/PEDMAS/CHRISTMAS, and y'all dun did it.
Neither of you answered my question...

MatPat signed on for a new Youtube Network, because of how scummy they can be with money he hasn't been paid for the last few months, they'll sometimes delay payments just to make their own books look better to investors
So the network delays his paycheck but then it goes bankrupt which means he's pretty much guaranteed to never see that money
Now Mat's pissed from not getting paid but also at the guy who convinced him to sign up because of how soon after the company went under, the guy would've fully known what was about to happen which is a dick move
I'm going to interpret your question as 2/2 + 2. Naturally because there's no parens we apply the standard order of operations, meaning the answer is 3. There, happy?
I didn't answer this originally because you completely missed the point of his post, which is that the order of operations only exists to solve the ambiguity caused by shit notation. If you had given the problem as (2/2) + 2 this would not be a problem. Alternatively, you could use reverse polish notation (2 2 / 2 +) which doesn't have this problem to begin with.

That network and the guy is pretty scummy, though considering how MatPat is too and the company went bankrupt too anyways, I can't help but feel

I don't understand why the video/vocaroo is so negative towards Matpat though? I was under the impression that the worst he's done was make bad videos.
So you're saying expressions such as a+b(c+d) are ambiguous? That it should be written as a+(b(c+d)) instead? That's not removing ambiguity, that's creating unreadable clutter.
PEMDAS is pretty damn basic as far as maths go, I can't imagine doing any remotely advanced calculation without it. "2+2x4" isn't an ambiguous expression at all.

No, I specifically said
The downside of that is extra characters, which is why we have a standard order of operations (PEMDAS) to remove the ambiguity
I was simply trying to clear up Fire Python's argument because it seemed like it was being misinterpreted. I am not saying that PEMDAS isn't simple or that extra parenthesis are always better.
However, I'd like to emphasize that something like a+b(c+d) WOULD be ambiguous without PEMDAS in infix notation. The only reason we even need PEMDAS is that infix notation's order of operations isn't clearly defined otherwise. The same formula in reverse polish notation (postfix) would be "c d + b * a +". The order of operations is clearly defined by the left to right order of operators and operands, there is no need for any parentheses to clear it up.
