Frozen is one of my favorite Disney films next to Mulan.
Don't let the marketing whoring ruin it for you. But honestly, there's probably not much you can do about that at this point. You should give it a watch anyways, it's good.
It is a decent family film with some good songs. It uses and subverts common fairytale tropes pretty well and the characters are flawed in believable ways. It also has some good songs.
It does have some details which rely on poor ideas though, such as the rock gnomes or whatever they are, or how the parents are incredibly stupid.
It was good but it didn't justify the solid 2 years of being everywhere at all times. The backlash was more because you couldn't escape it and it wasn't a mindblowingly good film like the fans acted like it was. I really don't blame people for hating it.
let olaf say the fuck word
So when do we get a screaming rendition of this Frozen's big musical number?
You forgot Exclusive Frozen 2 The Flamethrower.
The kids love that one!
I see that and raise you this
God Dammit. Why did I know this wa s athing?
It's okaaay, not gonna make any top 10 lists for me.
Elsa is by far the most interesting character in the film, but 75% of the movie is taken by her sister Anna who's arc is a lot more basic, for each good song (Frozen Heart, Do You Wanna Build A Snowman, Let It Go) there's an awful song (Love Is An Open Door, In Summer, Fixer Upper), and the "goofy Disney sidekick" Olaf I found insufferable. It does subvert a few tropes near the end but as a whole I found it to be a fairly unremarkable movie.
Promoting to cut down the audience.
If it has less lazy plot-halting song breaks, that'll be enough for me to like this.
They weren't plot halting. It was a musical, like most Disney films, the songs are part of the story.
I always find it funny whenever people expect things from a Disney film to not have songs or cutesy mascots. It's Disney, not Game of Thrones, of course it's going to have to consistent elements that appeal to kids (the same reason why there's always the subtle adult humor that'll go over kid's heads).
Even long-time beloved classics that were considered darker/more mature than the usual Disney work like Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mulan, Pocahontas and such all had musical numbers that blended with the characters and plot. It's part of the charm and not having them is not Disney.
Nice, they decided to launch a new Kingdom Hearts dlc 2 weeks after launch
Okay cool, consensus says overall good. I'll check it out! Thanks for the responses guys.
I forgot on which thread I actually was and nearly got a hearth attack from this
I should confess. It's been 5 years since I've started playing piano. Because of "let it go" of all things. There wasn't a day when I regretted that I've heard this song but I'm sure it would've been different if it was constantly played from everything that can make sound tho.
So you never know how it's gonna affect you. The worst thing that could happen is you will waste 2 hours of your time on a movie you wouldn't like.
