LEGO General v.1 - I am bad with titles, but Hidden Side is Spooky!

LEGO is a line of plastic construction toys that are manufactured by The Lego Group, a privately held company based in Billund, Denmark. The company's flagship product, Lego, consists of colourful interlocking plastic bricks accompanying an array of gears, figurines called minifigures,
and various other parts. Lego pieces can be assembled and connected in
many ways to construct objects, including vehicles, buildings, and
working robots. Anything constructed can be taken apart again, and the
pieces reused to make new things. (via Wikipedia)
Lego recently unveiled a new in-house Theme, called Hidden Side, which mixes regular bricks with Augumented Reality funcionality, feel free to discuss it!
Lego also released "The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part", Feel free to discuss it too!
Lego Ideas is a site where you can post and vote on lego creations, which after 10.000 supporters can become actual sold sets, which so far include: Apollo 11 Rocket, a Fishing House, Voltron Mecha and more! There is also a new Flinstones set to be released in the near future. Read the interview with the fan designer HERE!

Are you into making Lego Creations? (or Mocs)
Post them here! (if you want to, I could post some challanges)
When I was a kid I'd always make elaborate guns and play pretend shoot outs with them
There are actualy some people online who are making lego weapons like ZaziNombies!
He does ones based on stuff from TF2, CoD, battlefield etc! they are preety neat tho there are other guys too. I could link them all in the OP if anyone would want that
i made a lego plane once, does this mean i'm qualified to post in this thread
OP has been updated!
Also, this is what I am currently working on, a Police station!
Im gonna give a link to LDD in OP in a sec TOO!
Video Review of new Hidden Side theme straight from New York Toyfair!
Nice! I remember the last LEGO thread being in the Creationism Corner. Hopefully this one lives longer.
Those who visit the OW threads will probably remember my Reinhardt and Police D.va MOCs, and this week I finished taking pics of another one: Comic ver. SP//DR.
I realy like how you made the Knees on it! Realy creative and unusual
The best part about being a brick specialist at a lego store was getting asked every single day if we have Fortnite lego.
Its a preety popular game afterall!
In a way, even though I realy enjoy the In-house themes (and Hidden Side looks especialy superb) I do hope they are trying to get a licence to Fortnite.
In a way that game is sort of Minecraft, with all the creative stuff people do there, and how those wooden/brick/metal "forts" happen basicaly every game. It feels like a much better choice for a Gamebased sets, when compared to Overwatch and its slow loss in popularity, while they could make sets based on Save the World and Battleroyale modes (especialy the latter, which gets changes each quarter of a year, which would work well for such a Theme)
Also Characters dont realy die there, as those tiny bots that appear after death sort of teleport them away from the map (as well as lack of blood)
I'd suggest this channel if you are into technic/engineering stuff with LEGO ^^
I FORGOT ABOUT HIM HECK. adding him to OP rn!
No I know. It was just annoying.
I also had to explain to several people that, no, voltron is not a transformer.
"I want to get my son that transformer for christmas."
'Thats not a transformer.'
"My son is 4 he wont notice!"
'That set is really advanced.'
"What do you know?" she says to the person wearing the lego apron working in a lego store.
Haha. I guess some people just can't be helped.
Got any more stories to share? They are a nice read !(tho i send my best regards to you for putting up with it )
I've been a lego kick lately ever since seeing The Lego Movie 2, picked up a few sets recently, Emmet's Thricycle, Benny's Space Squad and Unikitty's Sweet Friends. Also got some of the minifigures from the blind bags and got multiples of the flashback Lucy. Sorry for the crap quality of the pictures, but here's some of my sets
The amount of free stuff you get is insane. I only worked a 90 day seasonal period and I got everything in this picture PLUS every single gift with purchase durring the time I worked there as well as some extras.
My boss also gave me a minifig of Darth Revan after I did a particularly good job one shift. That fig is worth around 50 bucks. No way am I selling him tho.
Working at a Lego store has some major downsides though. The rules are very strict and you need to follow these specific steps as well as some secret hidden steps with every single customer you interact with. My store was in one of the busiest malls on the east coast, so I was expected to have long interactions with customers on super busy holiday weekends while hitting every step. There are a lot of other things that made it stressful, such as how you have to be very social with all your coworkers and you keeping your job relies on you being able to make friends with everyone. That isnt hard for me to do really, but adding some social pressure on top of an already hard job is kinda nuts. Its probably one of the most difficult retail jobs you can have. I love Lego but oof was the job stressful. Hence why I didnt become a proper employee after my 90 days.
If you're a nerd, like 3D-printing and LEGO, this is for you:
I used to work together with the guy behind it, he's super much into it.
Personally I would only use this if I needed some non-existent original part, or I lost an original part. Otherwise I'm all for buying real LEGO
What is this then? :O
Despite FN being a goldmine for merch, I don't think Lego would ever get to do it, mainly because of their "no violence/guns" rule (which mostly applies to modern day military/guns, historic & futuristic is totally fine). I could maybe see them doing Save the World, but I'm sure almost all kids know only of BR.
But who knows? I'm pretty sure Overwatch is a test theme for them to see if the videogame merch market is truly profitable or not, as well as keeping up with the times (as you can see with Hidden Side, which relies on smartphones), so I wouldn't rule out the possibility of FN or any other game/Blizzard franchise.
He mostly meant how customers/visitors are misinformed and see any huge robot as a transformer (just like how they used to mismatch the different types of consoles).
Also, since we're not Reddit/any Recognized Lego fan forum, I guess it's pretty safe to post leaks:
God damn they really are finding new ways to kill my wallet - Lego's dark blue is my most fav colour and I love anything that they make with it.
How convenient i only very recently i saw this on Imgur, and thought to myself, that's some pretty clever shit, and this thread pops up. Be sure to check out the whole album.
Oh another perk of my job as a brick specialist was I got to know about sets months before they were revealed.
But just cuz we know about this doesnt mean we can talk about them. A guy tried to bug me about that once.
This dude walked into the store and asked me about some set that wasnt announced yet. I played dumb and was like "naw I dont think we make that" and the dude took out his phone and started showing me leaks. So I broke protocol as just said to him "My dude I will lose my job if this conversation continues" and he shut up pretty fast.
holy shit that guy at he lego store was unintentionally right
Star Wars 20th Anniversary sets
Note: the stormtroopers have a new helmet mould that just came out this year.
With that said, I'm definitely getting the Imperial dropship, since it's actually a Lego-original design.
Also posting the upcoming JW sets based of a Lego minimovie:
A bit expensive (clearly due to the Dino moulds), but I love that they got complete creative freedom and went all out.
Also there's still rumors of a large Jurassic set (~$200/300) coming out later.
Those are nice but they lack the little lego Jeff Goldblum with his chest hair hanging out.
I realy adore Both that Mustang and that Robo-Trex!
God I love Lego. Grew up collecting Bionicles from the begging to the end of the series.
Bionicle is my Jam! Did you know that they did a Gen.2 of em in 2015-2016?
What is everyone's favorite theme?
Aside from Star Wars, Rock Raiders has a special place in my heart. Played the PC game so much and hopefully once I start earning some money this summer I can buy used sets off of Ebay!
Anyone else collect vintage sets? Last spring I picked up this gem SEALED at a mom n pop store. was like 40$ X)
Yup. Only got the Onua set though. I just didn't have the funds nor the energy to be invested in the franchise again. Bionicle will always have a place in my heart though. It brought me so much joy and made me realize the power of story telling.
