People like to say "don't care about ratings" but I guarantee you guys are more likely to skip over posts that don't have a bunch of positive ratings whenever you're skimming through a thread.

Imagine wanting a community where you can be yourself, only to find that someone is self-confessed transphobic and is in support of backwards legislation & policies that attempts to pretend you don't exist. Imagine then realising you're more likely to be banned in that community for calling the person out on their downright sickening beliefs than they are for being transphobic because "don't pay attention to ratings!!!! no callouts!!!"
We removed ratings in SH for a while and ended being a shitshow with people deliberately being lured into baneable arguments ( it was supposed to fight the bandwagon rating problem, but that one remains a hard one to solve anyway ).
Just ban the ones who deliberately are doing it for trolling / being offensive ( like the one who rated winner to the Christchurch terrorist attack news and got his ass permabanned ).

You might see us "childrish" and even "drama queens" for complaining about such "trivial nuances", but is just another excruciating pain we have to deal with due general transphobia / racism / other prejudices just for the mere reason of existing. We don't deserve this treatment.

I don't think there's really much more you can do other than make Knockout better. I don't think mods have the ability to remove ratings and assuming Garry designed them he very much approves of their use in a toxic manner.
I think ratings should be seen officially as what they started as, a replacement for short posts. So let's say we have a thread about a dead child. If a user would be banned for posting "This is fucking hilarious", then why shouldn't they be banned for rating funny?
Ratings have never been bannable and they never should be. Why are you acting like a snowflake over ratings? You're going to let a button someone else presses upset you? Why should the mods have to worry about that kind of nonsense?
