Damn so it seems like it really is happening sometime this year. I welcome knockout and being able to continue FP somehow. Atleast FP won't just disappear overnight
No, I have serious engaged-with-multiple-FP-subcommunities-and-running-or-contributing-to-the-running-of-several syndrome. Most of those people aren't going to switch, so why would I - when those subcommunities are the main draw of the site for me?

I wish you and Inacio the best with KO and will be there if FP goes under, but I'm in it for the long haul over here.
You might be tempted to switch if KO has some serious features going on (idk what floats your boat - custom forums maybe?) that changes your tune. Also not to mention if the mods all move over and replacements aren't found then the inevitable shitposting here may also migrate the remainers.
But I agree in the sense of waiting for KO to become more feature rich first - I can't see gaz shutting down the forums anytime soon tbh.

When this forum does die out, part of me feels like the majority of people will probably just move on to a different forum, or become more active in other forums or sites they're already somewhat active in (ResetEra, 4chan, etc).
Nothing against Knockout and I'll definitely give it a shot when these forums do die, but I really only see it appealing to the absolute Facepunch faithful, and I feel that's a relatively small crowd of people on here. Could be wrong, but optimism isn't my strong suit.
At the very least, before the forums die or after they do, it would be nice to point people towards Knockout as an alternative. Just like a big fuck off post or page from Garry saying "This shit is dead now, go knock yourselves out."
The issue is a lot of people have no substitute. Reddit is trash, ResetEra and 4chin both have crap communities. In my case there's only two other forums I'm even active on and neither are general forums and I check them only like once or twice a day. Worthwhile general forums are few and far between anymore thanks to Discord despite Discord not even being an adequate substitute for forums. (In fact I'd go so far as to claim Discord is even less adequate as a forum replacement than Reddit which is saying a lot because Reddit is only good for echo chambers and popular content, not anything resembling proper discussion.)

Man, I'll be really sad if this place goes down. I made an account back in 2006 when I got into modding half-life 2 and found out about gmod.
I've been mostly lurking here on an almost daily basis ever since then. Any other forum I checked out was pretty crap compared to over here. I've wasted so much time here, it's ridiculous. Certainly an end of an era.
