i definitely want to try to have a google login, but i want to be honest no matter what - i can't promise you we'll have one.
What uncertainty? Steam authentication is huge and removing it would be catastrophic. If they do anything it'll likely move to whatever the newest standard is, which means everyone else you listed will likely do the same.
Plus all this scare from Steam changing was from 4 years ago.
huh, how did i miss that
the post i saw was from late 2018
yeah that is definitely good news
Also couldn't you just require steam authed accounts to have a secondary form of validation as a backup?
I'd like if we didn't talk about moving from FP until it's actually dead, as in offline.
Sure, make a KO account to be ready should the worst come to pass but I've made a lot of content on FP over the years and I'm not eager to leave that behind.
I agree, what if the forum doesn't get it's plug pulled by Garry, what'll happen then if everyone already moved from the forum and garry decides to work in it again
how do we talk about it when it's dead
The "Log In" button prompts a popup window with Google Account information, but once I select the Google Account nothing happens.
I've heard about linear thinking but wooh, this is a new one.
Then it'd be too late
Not sure I understand, How do we have this conversation once FP is dead?
I guess my english sucks or something. What I meant to say is that it's fine to get people to get prepare to move on over because the forum could shut down any day.
I'm against asking people to permanently move if the forum does end up still standing because we'll end up splitting the community badly in my opinion.
I'm personally not moving over as long as this forum still stands.
One question that haunts me is how is the new forum going to grow after inevitably slashing the activity of facepunch in the switch? I fear that we're going to end up with an even more inactive forum than current FP. That would make it even harder for me to want to stick around.
i don't know. i'm sincerely just hoping for the best.
Well for one, telling curious people the site I'm browsing is called "knockout" is way less cringy than "facepunch" so yeah.
If #Banime is implemented, that will also help reduce the potential cringe when showing the forum to other people.
Shit, I just learned about the whole knockout and Garry ghosting us thing.
Shouldn't this be a forum-wide announcement? That'd be the way to go if you expect knockout to have any foundation.
To add, the only reason I even knew about any of this was due to THE FACEPUNCH EXPERIENCE (A tribute) thread. If I hadn't bothered to read it I probably wouldn't have known about this. Ever since the move I've been much less active across the forum and so rarely check areas outside of my interest.
Sucks that a switch is inevitable but at least there are some people who who actually give a shit and are developing a decent alternative for when garry nukes us
you know it's my forums right
banime will never happen
#animesafespace
I'm pretty sure banning brainless garbage like this would do a far better job of making it less cringeworthy.
cool anime avatar what show is it from?
Can we give the banime routine a rest? On both sides? How many hundreds of times can you say the same thing over and over and still expect a round of applause and high fives? Whether you're doing the ironic self-deprecation routine or you're one of the ever-shrinking group of still stuck in 2007, just give it a rest for once in your life.
Call me offended if you want but I'm just tired of seeing it because it's tedious, not because I think I'm some persecuted minority.
Honestly, I'm starting to use KO almost as much as FP. Probably just end up using both equally until this place finally goes under.
Still haven't been posting there regularly but ever since it introduced the light theme and progress going smoothly it really is starting to be comfy. Pretty excited to see it develop overtime and surpass FP in terms of features and performance.
KO's getting there! You're getting better progress in a week more than Newpunch did in a month!
