• The end of the Facepunch Forums is NOT nigh

It might not be happening absolutely right nigh but it is worth it to have back-ups of other sites and such to go to.
Ok, so there are a lot of good technical reasons to move. But it's important that we have a transition period, if we leave FP as a ghost forum all of a sudden a lot of people are going to completely miss it, even if we leave mentions of KO. I really am stressing the importance of this, we need a transition period. Even if it's just one week.

The information has been pieced together through what garry has said on Twitter, his blog, his posts on these forums. They're not officially condensed in one place AFAIK Unsure if forums are the best format. "Why not just use reddit or Discord" Not sure if the forums will continue, contemplating shutting them down forever It won't happen suddenly, it will be announced A decision would be made in "Early 2019" I was made redundant in January
What will happen to the community fund?
what will happen to all the coins ?!?
Here are some ideas of what I propose: 1st phase of the transition period: Stickies about KO in every subforum (done) Mentioning KO on the homepage Issuing a deadline for transitioning over to KO 2nd phase of the transition period: Threads are actively encouraged to be made on both FP and KO, with a link to the KO thread on the FP thread Every long-term thread (active for over a week) gets remade on KO and the original FP thread gets issued a warning post about transitioning to the new one. 3rd and final phase of the transition period: New threads on FP are actively discouraged and immediately locked with a post mentioning KO. All active threads on FP are locked.
Good thing it's not gone for good, was pretty fun to meme about tho.
While I can agree with some of these I think that phase 2 & 3 would cause more division than anything. Don't go out of your way to kill the forums, but be prepared to come home one day to our community gone.
It will be used to fund KOC Unfortunately we don't have that level of control over Facepunch. We can't change the homepage, nor can we lock all the active threads without doing each one individually.
The problem is that a lot of people won't transition if we stay in the uncertainty that the forums will go down. And I would also rather keep using these forums as long as possible but the process I described is to ensure that most people will know about KO and have time to go there. If everyone just up and leaves, many people won't know what the fuck is happening and won't even bother to try to find a reason.
What happens to the Gmod section?
Nothing, as far as I know the people who actively moderate that section are staying. Nothing to worry about!
If the transition is to occur it needs to happen over a week at minimum. Not everyone visits every day. To be honest, I'm not too comfortable with the new forum yet. There's no doubt a lot of missing features there. For now I'm visiting both sites.
“we have assured the administrator that noTHING will go wrong.” I feel a little bit better now knowing i’ll still have someplace to post my scenebuilds to for advice.
What did I do
Distinctive name/avatar I guess
Does Garry need us to give him a ton of money like LowTax?
I mean a massive pro for the new forum will be never having to deal with Garry again
Off topic, but Newpunch lacks DMs - was there ever a maximum avatar size, or did you just stop sizing up your avatar due to how expensive it was? How many coins did it take (if you recall), and did the rising costs per each additional pixel stop off at some point?
Also please fix how big threads are, good god I could probably place three in the space one takes up on the new site
Why doesn't Knockout use a similar design as Facepunch? That'd greatly improve the adoption rate.
go to your profile, there are settings for size, color and width
I have, it doesn’t change the fact that threads are laid out with absurd extra space
oh ok good
Just throw your suggestion in the Meta section, one of the main points of KO is community interaction and improvement through user suggestions.
It's slowly getting to that. There's no big background on the forums just yet but user avatars and user backgrounds are in and it looks a lot like FP when replying / browsing it.
