For real, I had a friend whose dad would always faint and become temporarily unconscious like this when he rode roller coasters, only he would be out the entire ride except right before the first drop only to wake up entering the station every time. We live fairly close to one of the largest and best roller coaster parks in the world (Cedar Point) so we'd go frequently, and in the local coaster-culture someone who has ridden every coaster multiple times becomes a 'ride warrior' and my friends dad became one several times over while being absolutely terrified of going on them. He eventually stopped altogether because he was afraid he might be conscious for a whole ride.
Someone once asked him how if he's so terrified of coasters than how the hell did he ride the Top Thrill Dragster which broke records for fastest and tallest coaster, he told them he fell asleep the moment the cart got launched up the hill.
