Suck up the price and just get new tires. Flatspots never come out.
10 people have my car saved on carsales
only have had two people ask about it
fucken hell
It's recently occurred to me that I'll probably never own one of my dream cars because of prohibitively expensive young driver insurance, coupled with impending ICE car bans. I could save up and buy the car within the next couple of years but there is absolutely zero chance I could be insured on it until I was 25 or even 30 depending on how much NCD I've built in that time. By the time my premiums would be affordable, I reckon I'm staring down the barrel of this theoretical ICE ban.
Buy the motorbike of your dreams instead
Thought you guys might enjoy this piece of icelandic ingenuity

Stumbled upon this asshole this morning. I'm not an experienced driver at all, so I went to the left lane without even looking. In retrospect I should have kept a closer eye on him, but I was so sure he was driving off the highway... I was going about 70-80kmph

My driving instructor warned about situations like these.
You have to practice your braking to deal with situations like these, the lesson being, if you swerve miss the dangerous driver and colide with a driver by changing lanes without looking it's your fault and he gets to drive away, but if you don't swerve and collide with him it's his fault. It's a shitty situation to be in especially if you're new.
Wholeheartedly agree with this.
My dumb-ass got nailed by a Tundra last week who swerved into the on-ramp of the highway while I was accelerating. I should've been slowing down ( even though I had right of way ) because I had a feeling he was gonna pull some stupid shit. He basically used his truck to try and move me out of the way and nudged my rear door and left a double-fist sized dent.
I also drove off because I was pissed off and kinda fucking scared since he deliberately tried pushing me out of the way with his truck. So now I'm a potential suspect of a hit and run... Also yes I know it was extremely stupid to drive off, but nobody was hurt and he just barely tapped me, my car didn't even move.
Welp, decided to bite the gun and get a Jimny but there's a shortage of them until August. They are insanely popular at the moment.

I wish we had those in the states instead of these inflated Fiats that have a Jeep badge on them for some reason.

She's back on earth. Now i get to scream into the void as i wait for parts i ordered a month ago.
I've got an older one and it's fucken wicked, I looked at the newer one at a dealership a few weeks ago and I'd buy it in a heartbeat if I could
Wanted something similarly nimble after the mini and found a decent condition 08 Fiesta ST500. Honestly a little underpowered but it’s good fun regardless for the kinds of roads we have.

I think I’ve reached the point in my life where I’m ready to buy a Miata
which one one should I go for
auto nc obviously
My car 4cyl fwd started acting up today. Absolutely zero acceleration and climbing a hill from a stop wouldn't go over 10mph.
Tonight I was coming back home and the alt/wp belt squealed non stop for about a minute before snapping.
My battery light came on and my car started overheating BUT... my performance was back to normal.
So can a failing v belt rob your engine performance or is it an alt/wp binding issue that caused the belt to fail?
What is the best way to clean out a carburetor that's all gunked up and varnished after sitting for 15 years? I've heard somewhere before that I can soak it in a bucket of hot water and pinesol for a day then clean it up from there, is that true?
anything that isn't a motorcycle carb (internal seal) I use an ultrasonic cleaner from harbor freight with a 2:1 or 3:1 mix of simple green and water. disassemble the carb leave the needle valve, jets, springs and anything that is brass or rubber/plastic out and let it sit for 3-4 minutes rinse and repeat you'll probably need to use a pipe cleaner for the internal passages. as for the jets, needle valve and other pieces soak everything that is left that isn't rubber/plastic in fresh gas and clean it out with a needle/toothbrush/pipe cleaner for the real stubborn pieces/passages I use a waterpik but the manual method works.
if you don't have a ultrasonic tank you can follow pretty much the same method with a stainless pot bring water to a slow boil add simple green and then stick in an oven on about 200 for a longer duration then the tank
Fucking bucketloads of hot acetone, patience, and a rebuild kit. Some picks, brushes, and other cleaning tools will help a lot too. There's tons of guides on YouTube to cleaning carbs.
Maybe something was seizing up? Make sure your pulleys spin freely, including any idlers if it has any.
Upon further inspection I found the belt had been thrown, not snapped. The harmonic balancer was wobbling badly.
I pulled the harmonic balancer and the rubber between the inner and outer part is degraded.
I have a 91 mercury capri and a replacement is $215. Hopefully that fixes the issue.

You know what, I've changed my mind on the Supra. It's still ugly, but the interview with the engineer showed that this is for enthusiasts. They've already built in lots of points for people to upgrade, and they even said they want the aftermarket to take advantage of everything there.
This may be off field but I'd appreciate some help with this.
I am looking to buy a used compact SUV with AWD. My budget is $15k and so far I've found some decent prices for Toyota RAV-4's, Hyundai Tucsons, and Honda CR-Vs. Their mileage is between 40k to 80k which is reasonable but I'm not familiar with how long those brands last ( My family has only ever had Mercedes that were 8+ years old ) I want this car to last me a good while ( 5 years at least with me doing regular care ) and be able to take snow/city driving. US weather isn't going to play nice in NJ, and I'll end up driving 25k miles a year for assorted things.
Am I looking at the right cars? Does anyone have any suggestions? Certified Pre-owned was something I was considering, but they usually go well over the budget to the point I should push to finance a new car ( 18k+ for decent mileage on most )
This is probably a bit older than what you're looking at but I've been driving a 2011 CR-V with AWD as my first and only car the past ~6 years and it has around 120k now. It's perfect for what you're describing, been dead reliable mechanically (only things that've ever broken are the AC a couple times, the GPS disc reader, and a sensor in the hood that got stuck open causing the alarm to go off in the rain.) I've wrestled it out of iced in parking spots to go to Waffle House when it's the only thing still open and never had a problem. It'll definitely go at least another 100k if not more unless something catastrophic happens. Pretty much all Toyotas and Hondas are the same way, dunno about Hyundais tho. Mine's the top trim so it's got a built in USB port and bluetooth which still works with modern phones if you're looking for that sort of thing
Honestly that is about the year I'm looking at. I've found a 2012 RAV-4 LIM with 48k miles for $13k, and a 2012 CR-V EX-L with 85k miles for $12k. I'd imagine the lower trims would make this a lot easier on the wallet but I'm just not sure if buying at those miles is going to hurt me in the long run
2012 was the year the CR-V switched to the next gen so some features probably trickled down to the lower trims, I'm not sure. I'd say as long as everything looks good on that CR-V you'd be in business for the 125k in 5 years you're talking about. No car's perfect but if your only experience is with Mercedes at that mileage Japanese cars have a waaaaaaaay better track record
I really hope this one speedbump near my fiance's work hasn't wrecked something under my car. No matter how slow you go over it, I always hear something scrape against my car. There's tons of gouges in the pavement from other cars too :/
So the Boeirlingo ain't no more. The engine could've eaten shit any day, the MOT/Inspection was coming up, with faaar too much stuff wrong, sure to make her fail, not worth the time, money or effort to fix. So it was time for the scrapper for the ol' madmouseille.
I had two choices. Either just drop her off at the scrapper, and just leave with a handful of cash. Or show up at a 'raceday' meetup at an automotive tech collage and see if she could prove me wrong one more time, and regardless the outcome, still get paid scrap money.
I think chose right.

And what a beast. Chewed through all four tires, before the engine gave out. And being one car you're never likely to see at such an event, the crowd loved it She went out in a blaze of glory!
Wait that's the same berlingo 747?
How did you kill the engine? I mean, we've had probably a hundred berlingos and only my aunt has killed 2 engines. The 1.4 is dumb reliable, haven't had the gearbox break etc. The gearing is horrible for driving over 90km/h, but I mean, going fast is overrated /s
What were the other problems you had? The shitty shifter can be fixed with some easy magic, the turn signal stalks can probably be found pretty cheap, alarm can give up, but who needs that (if it even had a stock one, aftermarket ones usually give up by now), the rear wiper motors do short out and kill your battery but that's just removing the rear wipers :v
The rear axle is probably the worst thing. Oh and the rust.
In other news, if he killed a Berlingo, we probably gave one a new life recently. Had faded paint, rusted rocker panels and the rear passenger door, quite a few electrical gremlins etc. I learned how to polish a car and the 150€ car, some paint, a welder and a new rocker panel and a few more things made it ~1000€ car with a few days of work. Don't have any pics tho.
I quite like it, but I wish it had way less bmw styling on the inside
it doesn't even resembles the old Supra, like, at all
Unless you took them off, your car has stuff under there to protect from hitting the ground. Most likely you're just dragging a cross member or exhaust. It's still not good, but it's not like youre bottoming out on the oil pan.
