Automotive Addicts V8 pt. IV: We're not changing until V12 because engine meme

Last Saturday I replaced my ignition barrel with one from the scrapyard. For now I'm using two keys to use the car, but holy shit does it feel satisfying to have an ignition that's not worn to shit. The original one had the return spring break so I would have to turn the key back myself, and it barely took any force to switch between the modes. Now this damn thing actually has some feedback when you start it. It's the little things that help, and once I have more time I'll source a full lock set and go back to one single key on my chain again.
You can probably import them from literally any parts store in the US. The trucks are so common, but so old, you can buy new lock cylinders for the doors and ignition, complete with keys, for probably 100 bucks.
Someone dumped a like, brand new looking 1974 Ford Courier into a ravine about 10 minutes away from my house. The Ravine is steep as fuck, but you can walk down it.
Gonna see if I can get my 4runner up there and drop a wench down and see what I can pull up.
A US parts store selling Peugeot parts?
I got quoted 185 EUR ( $207 USD) by a local Peugeot dealer for an ignition barrel that would match my current set of keys, and I bought an incomplete set with 2 door locks and ignition barrel for 35 EUR. I only put the ignition barrel in as my trunk lid and fuel cap would still use the original keys.
OH. I got you confused with the euro fella with the Blazer.
Which onea you nerds is goin' to eurofest? I fully expect to see you there next week.
there apparently also are Peugeots in the US. Doug reviewed the 3008, which I think came from Canada or something.
I've never seen any french cars here ever, outside of pre 70's junk at car shows.
clutch decided not to be clutch

certified bruhâ„¢ moment
so my car has started smelling like a burning every now and again, even on short drives, but the clutch seems fine. it's not slipping and I haven't messed up driving it recently.
most recently happened late last night after a 1 mile trip down the road, zero traffic so no stop starting. gave it to my dad to drive today and it's making the smell again but he insists the clutch seems fine.
any ideas on what else could be causing a stink? nothing looks out of place in the engine bay and the car is running perfectly fine.
Gonna need to replace that.
Gonna second this. Don't fuck with tires because if they go blamo at a bad time your ass is dead.
Well more specifically a bubble means the internal steel mesh has failed or separated from the tire compound. You get a nail in the tire, you can patch that and be fine 90% of the time. Can't patch this.
Also that's by no means a "small" bubble. That's quite sizable
A bubble means the tire is literally coming apart. The internal structure has failed and anything could happen. It could blow at the bubble, or the belts could bust all the way across and shear the whole tread off.
Replace it. Sure, spending money sucks, but this could literally be a life or death thing.
Don't. Fuck. With. Tires. Or. Brakes.

Parts showed up. They got me the the shoebox pitman arm and not the truck. Nice.
I had "fun" doing a simple oil change on the 4runner today
Open up skid plate oil drain cover
FUCK snap one of the two bolts in the process
drain the oil
remove front skid plate trim
remove front skid plate
let it hit you in the head on its way down
nearly strip the oil filter wrench
grab a five foot breaker bar to get the thing off
who the fuck torqued it down that tight
replace filter
button filter housing back up
shit how the hell does this skid plate go back on
I need three hands
fucking finally it's on
never-seize everything
get angry because your skid plate drain cover now rattles sans one bolt
Might just pay someone to do that next time. I hate living in the rust belt.

Things like an aluminium train because it handles like its on fucken rails
too bad it decided to rain so it's gonna be dirty as hell in the morning
That is adorable. I wish tiny cars like that were practical in the us.

THE TIME IS NOWWWWW. I won't be tracking it because I kinda need it to not fall apart before I can get home but uh, wooo eurofest.

Take that beauty straight to a detailer and get it ceramic coated
R8s and lambos look fantastic without the rear bumper
Oh don't worry, bolbos do dumb shit in all the most special ways.

New spoilery boi highlights my dire need to unfuck my paint and fix the fucking clearcoat. It's only happening there and I suspect it's because the trunk is made of some weird ass fiberglass like material that hurts just as much when you get it in your hands but is white and shits out dust like a cocaine brick.
Additionally, the plug on the back of my intake cam is leaking oil because ~reasons~ and I can't tell if it's because my pcv may or not be plugged or if it's because the dealer did a shit job of putting it back in.
Motor is fine, blyat.

It's fine. I saw someone drive in with this to our shop once.

Stevs tech tips: despite common wisdom, tie rods are suboptimal when shaped like pretzels
Honestly if someone chooses to drive around on this bullshit they deserve whatever happens to them
I used to get my front tires flipped around on my wheels because the outsides would wear faster than the insides.
Only the ghetto tire shops were willing to do it.
After both sides were worn I would put them on the back and get a couple used tires for the front. Rince and repeat.
