Lets not get too far off topic here buuuuuut ... This is absolutely asinine lmao how are you going to compare transitioning to giving an alcohlic opioids. Absolutely hilarious that you think thats an apt comparison
Because every mod knew he was shitposting and being terrible and this does not reflect his actual opinion. Hezzy jumped the gun before consulting mod team and Sosig himself. In what way? Actually fully explain yourself because as a Transgender person I'd like to know why.
They were shitposts. This does not need to be explained again. Go a few pages back
Are we still doing this "Mods can shitpost but users can't" thing? This forum has been around for almost 2 decades (if Garry's Sep, 2001 join date is to go by) and you're still not tired of this joke?
The shitposts we are talking about all took place in discord
Mods here have been known to shitpost on the forum itself.
I have never been under that category
Mods got yelled at for shitposting in this thread. Mods will be yelled at for anything in the future. Sosig wrote a full apology for shitposting and being utter garbage, also realize this is the only second chance. We keep forgetting that we are users too and should be treated the same. We've all gone through this previously. Everyone agrees that the edgy shitposting goes out the door and that's the final word on it. I am hoping in the future. This won't creep up again. I too am tired of chasing our own tails.
Who asked you
Isnt there a thread on polidicks where you say "we're in generation snowflake" and when attacked on this statement respond with "im not afraid to voice my opinion"? Seems your opinion changed pretty fast considering that you said all your "alt-light" posts were shitposts
Yeah this is true. Guess I was just getting pissed off that everyone else is being pissed off Lol
Nobody minded anyone with right wing opinions here as long as said opinions weren't objectively garbage. I've been debating folks for three years now and challenging their notions, but I draw the line where you won't acknowledge certain things, or if you try espousing shit like "we need to landmine the borders" like multiple people have said before. Look, some opinions are just trash, and everyone who wants us to move on from the fucking 1800s understands that we no longer need that shit anymore. Disguising bigotry with the free speech card and going "facts dont care about your feelings" when the above statement is as far as you can get from the objective facts, don't fly without consequences anymore.
This is forum discussion not Unpopular Opinions
warnings have been given out. if you want to discuss this (not directly discussing moderation policies etc) take it elsewhere. everyone else report offtopic posts please, in case we miss them
Tudd was permabanned for a post he made on discord.
Once again, bitching about ratings is the dumbest thing. If a tiny little icon hurts people that much then disable them on SH/PD again.
those are fine, going off topic is not
This is the thread where we can discuss the moderation team's decision of reinstating Sosig then?
Every mod thought Sosig's comments were unacceptable. Allowing him to be re-instated after an apology and being on a tight leash for a bit is not an endorsement of Sosgi's shit tier posts.
No matter what it's about, due process wasn't followed in his case. If Sosig got demoted in the manner he did, without being given time to explain himself, does that necessarily mean that it won't apply to another mod too in the future? this is kind of the point of why people decried his immediate demotion in the first place, because due process wasn't followed. Worse mods than him got that before getting demoted, you'd basically have to be pr3dator tier in order to even fall under that category for immediate demotion and likely ban without another word.
Everyone has only seen me in terms of those few shitposts. I highly doubt many of you see my work with the Rustlings on the forums, discord and the Rust discord
If ratings are meant to be an equivalent to a post to stop repeated posts of "yeah same" or "love this", why should they not be handled the same as posts?
The shit comments are only the tip of the iceberg. The big deal here is that they're indicative of a bigoted/biased mindset which should absolutely be a deal-breaker when it comes to positions of power of any kind. Forbidding such comments in the future, even strictly, and giving the person in question a "second chance" basically amounts to letting them get away with it and asking them to please hide their bigotry. That's not going to change the moderator bias, nor its impact. It will only make it less visible. So yeah, this is all theatrics so far. You've done nothing tangible about this.
What do you propose happen @_Axel . The due process for us was a single discord reaction poll, and that was the extent of the discussion which mattered for hezzy to make a decision.
So it's a limp decision because it failed to satisfy your justice hard-on. alright. Wasn't it already pointed out that Sosig is on a tight leash and has to be careful about what he says in the future? I think to be honest, no matter what decision was taken here, it wouldn't satisfy some folks, because everyone has differing ideas as to what should be done in a situation. Again, i'd also like to point out comparing Sosig to Tudd is basically a case of false equivalence, because the one did a good job and was promoted to mod because it was observed as such, and the other was an asshole who thought the forum revolved around him after getting mod as a joke, and even insisted he would make a good real mod in the future. Also what theatrics?? Sosig, to my knowledge, never made any decision that smacked of bias during his modding career thus far, and in any case mostly handles the rust end of things, not SH/PD/GD or what have you. Being demoted is by itself a big kick in the teeth as it is, especially when you got it for rendering good service. If he does it again, then he's liable to worse happening to him, but not before.
Are you saying that you don't discuss those matters in depth or even at all before voting on them? That's not exactly a very involved due process. I was expecting that picking members for moderation was a somewhat serious task, where people take into consideration whether the candidate would make a good moderator. That includes personal bias. The same process should happen when a mod commits a grave fault and there needs to be a decision on whether to maintain their moderator status. Also what do you mean, for hezzy to make a decision? We're talking about the decision of remodding Sosig and leaving it at that here.
Just give the guy a chance and let's all forget about this. You don't need to hammer him until he breaks, he made mistakes and he can learn from them.
There was a day and some change of us giving our opinions on the matter. Hezzy had a poll on whether or not the majority of the team believed he should be remodded.
No, it's a limp decision because it did exactly nothing to address the source of the issue. You'd understand this if you read my post. Or, you know, if you were willing to understand it to begin with. Yeah, he's liable to being demodded if he openly shows his bias again. Not if he remains biased. Open display of bias is enough to raise suspicions of covertly biased actions. Removing power from people suspected of enforcing bias is ethics 101. Being a moderator is a privilege, not a right. If something indicates that someone may not be fit for it, then it's normal to reconsider their position.
sosig was added by garry. If you have any problems with that, you ask him
