Mods have been shown to be biased towards each other, that doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things. We dont know what goes on behind closed doors in the moderator chat, and anything that can give us an understanding is redacted under "sensitive info" This is it, changing the old ways. Giving people the ability to choose who should be mod, and who should not be, thats the basic change. If Hezzy was community manager still, he could remain the only mod as everyone else is demodded, and if the community chooses to do so they can vote in the people they agree have been fair and trustworthy during this whole mess who have been demodded, as well as choose completely different people who have never been mods on the forums before, who have not been brought up on the old ways, and who can bring fresh take on how everything should be done from this point on. This is the very basic step the forums should take when it comes to enacting change, the foundation for everything else to come.
tbf they've only really been throwing me under the bus and i'm not really part of the team anymore
The biases are reasons why we need to get rid of the current mod team. Sorry guys but it's for the better of the community and we need people who don't have those biases.
if fp was allowed to chose mods theyd be cycled out weekly for one reason or another
Is this going to be another round of "garry drops by to stir the pot and then isn't heard from for the next 6 months"
Yeah, the current squad of the mod team needs to go.
Just look what happened with the last election.
I’d be more inclined to mod elections every year or so to see who stays/goes, not sure if anyone else agrees with that though
Adding on to this, I absolutely agree.
23/05/2019 Clovis @Hezzy can we speak about the demodding So.. Formatted for your reading pleasure
did you go through that manually or was there a quick way to do it?
Ye manually
wanna help but for 100x that?
Point stands. As well, maybe i'm reading this wrong, but in that chat log there's a lot of doubt on Sosig and talk of "what if he goes apeshit the moment he's remodded" even by the people that voted yes or were doubtful, that to me says it should have either been brushed aside and he stayed unmodded or been put to a community vote. Not to mention the talk of "well discord shitposting is different from forum shitposting" when it really isn't, as a lot of FP and KO are tied to their discords, same mod teams, community events, etc. It shouldn't be viewed as different, especially when Discord is supposedly the modern replacement for a forum, right? I'd also like to bring up "well FP has always been run by a bunch of shitbirds," that's part of the problem, that's why we're talking about this. Just because it has doesn't mean it should continue to be. Moderators shouldn't be active thorns in the communities side.
We don't need any "public elwctions". They need to actually put someone with a bit of experience and qualification. Because having a mod return to the team after they were removed for something that was their fault is just an outstanding move. It feels like none of the mods have a decent personality that'd make them a good mod. Now we have mods stabbing wach other and fighting. They need to go.
Wait are you dumping the whole mod chat per chance?
do i get paid for this
We've had mod elections before. The only good thing to come out of them was memes tbh. Much like the StackOverflow elections mentioned earlier, it's a really small portion of the users who actually take part properly. And there's always a chance of an absolute shitheel like Tudd getting in because "haha wouldn't it b fun"
I like this idea. I've never wanted to throw you under the bus. You never threw me under it. If I did I apologize mate. I will stand my ground as much as you will. I had forgiven sosig when you didn't. I give second chances and I know and understand why you don't. I think at that point we needed change but now I am unsure if that was the right change.
I have virtual pixel coins
Not to mention in the log they fully admit to him being immature, "young, dumb, and edgy," so why was he a mod to begin with and why was he remodded?
honestly cant imagine anyone handling things better than the current mods have
funny i seem to remember tudd being modded was a part of the current system, not any kind of election
Include this post when the movie gets made.
wasnt that just an extended april fools joke
Probably cause people being elected mod has never been a community decision so people don't take it seriously. Once the community is given the final say in choosing who should be mod, and who shouldn't be when their actions are completely unacceptable, and it becomes a common thing people will start taking mod elections more seriously. FP is also a smaller community than StackOverflow, so the people who vote would have more influence, since they will be the most active and invested(vested?) people of the forums, and any decisions made would affect them the most.
I think you’re underestimating how many people still love and use fp and have been. Mods can always come and go on here just there’s usually ones that stay around a long time
I don't use FP as much as I used to, mainly lurk the SH and PD forums. Why is there so much drama, and why do other mods keep changing their names who the heck are most of these people.
To add onto this once the community starts taking mod elections seriously because their voice will end up giving who they vote for moderator status, people who have been voted in because "haha wouldn't it b fun" would be quickly voted out due to not being fit for being a mod.
Wasn’t rusty elected mod because of the mod elections when we had them around 06-09? I think the last community elected mod was rusty100? Must’ve been back in 07-09 or something
