Your responses have been pretty mature up until this one. This isn't some commie bullshit. Moderators not seeing themselves above the community and the community not seeing themselves below moderators meant that moderators and the community should work together, stopping trouble before it starts, or after it's started, listening to the concerns they have and allowing them to transparently see the decisions they will make to adress said concerns, keep shitheads from shitting up the forums, etc. It all comes back to what I've been saying about allowing the community to choose who should become mod, who shouldn't or be removed because they actions were unacceptable, and allowing for more transparency in what kind of decisions they make behind the scenes. But yes, it's easier to try and pull an immature zinger, because I suggested that the gap between moderator and user should be lessened because it threatens the ability of some mods to think they're well above the community and their concerns so they can do anything they want, and ban anyone that brings up their irresponsible actions. Just like someone said a while back "If mods do it, why can't I?"
Disney took Civil War off Netflix and put it here
alright karl marx pipe down
The civil war that might save fp as we know it
On knockout, I assume? There are no plans to "reset" the entire mod team on facepunch. Though I agree that the name changes are annoying and should stop.
Dropping the KO mods seems honestly quite petty and counter productive, hampering the mod team strength significantly for no real reason. I can't say I've seen any of the FP/KO mods do anything actually problematic on FP despite also being on KO. KO isn't some fucking "Other" that you have to fear and mistrust. It's a fallback for when a decision is made here. It's possible for someone to mod both of them without biasing their moderation on the other.
Can we take a step back for a moment and remember what this thread is about? Garry is asking you the community if he should shut down the forum in favor of KO. What mods have done/do, while relevant, isn't going to mean anything if the forums shut down. You can't fix a problem if the problem suddenly no longer exists, along with everything that goes with that problem. Right now is the time where Garry decides to pull the plug or not, bickering about mods being shit or throwing each other under the bus isn't going to stop him from doing so.
We’re talking about removing every mod here, it’d stand to reason the ones not fully dedicated to home base aren’t the ones we’re sticking to facilitate this.
for what it's worth, I agree with you to an extent. Moderators are still users. That being said, they should be leader of the community and therefore hold a higher regarded position. Facepunch Forums are going to be an Epic exclusive, you heard it here first folks *zooms off in a Tesla Model S P100D*
Didn't you call us xenophobes for questioning changing data collection services in FP games for being rightfully concerned?
It's pretty clear that we want FP to stay and even clearer that Garry more than likely isn't going to respond here again or listen to what any of us has to say, like all the previous times we've been through this.
I would personally prefer that FP doesn't shut down, i've made many friendships and had many memories, good and bad come from here and to see it go would really suck.
talk about a coup lmao lets just flush the mods
This thread gives me hope that Garry is actually considering keeping the forums. KO to me was the place to go if fp was actually on a time limit till death. If there is no time limit I vote for keeping fp alive and restructuring the mods with new community lead elections/decisions. The reaction of the community gives me hope too. we want fp, at least I know I do.
Did anyone really expect us to say yes in droves? The only reason knockout exists is out of fear of not having the choice. Of course we’re not going to agree to its fate
just move to ko
I feel like these 13 pages have done enough to show that mods have certainly been 'problematic' enough at times, this thread serving as just one example of many, unless you think deflecting genuine criticism by insulting the poster & going for epic zingers and throwing people under the bus rather than producing a quasi-serious post in response all fall under the purview of 'just typical mod shitposting, lol'. If that's still the case, I think that problem speaks for itself.
nah
There's a difference between higher position and untouchable, though. I respect and appreciate the bullshit you guys go through and the @Flak you guys take sometimes, but some mods have been mods longer than they should have and criticism of them shouldn't be taken as grounds for banning as it has occasionally in the past, or, y'know, shit-talked about in discord. People should respect the mods, not fear the banhammer from them.
The point i'm trying to make is i'd rather not have to do that and stay here.
Which has been done ? Countless times ? Just because you see some of the same names over the years doesn’t mean we haven’t changed mods a bunch of times
How about No
If you don't have anything to add, please stop.
Do you want to discuss shit or just shit post?
Problems with moderators isn't exclusive the Facepunch, since Knockout is supposed to be the succesor and where we would all move to if the forums get shut down by garry, It's a very valid reason to be brought up right now, when everyone can see it and on level playing fields. Moderators thinking they're infalliable and can do as they please because they see themselves as better than non mods, bias between each other, deflecting, ignoring, and making up excuses when they are criticized, the unacceptable actions they've done, conflict of interest, and lack of transparency. All of that and more reasons would transfer to Knockout if the current moderators will be the same moderators on KO. The problems with the current moderators who are also moderators on KO are not exclusive to FP, they must be adressed before a large scale move happens.
People using words like coup, traitors, and the like, really? I got no skin in this game, I don't personally know any of the mods, and I myself am a litteral nobody that I'd be surprised if anybody remembered my old username (richard9311) or that it matters that I'm a 06er ( it shouldn't). What matters is intent. Garry made his intent clear he was done with these forms. The mod team and a few users intent was to preserve as much of this community they could. They didn't do this as some sort of power trip, if that were the case, why stress out setting up a competitor website when you're already mods here, and the big boss has been absent for months? Even inacio seemed at the beginning of the KO development as reluctant. These things were done because at the end of the day they all cared about the fp community. From what was posted in this thread, mistakes were made and some of it was a mess, but the intent was to preserve the fp comunity. To awnser garry's opening question: no, I wouldn't like to see a forum shut down. I've stuck around long enough because I care for it here. I want to see garry continue to support the forum. But in his absence, the vauge threats, and total silence, these people did the best they could for this community because they carred. At least they tried to do something for this community I care for so much.
yeah lmao lets get rid of all the moderators and put new people in place totally not a coup you guys lmao
The forums don't work properly and garry doesn't want to work on it anymore. Either he'll shut them down now, or he'll shut them down later. Why are people pretending that there's going to be a future where facepunch continues on? There is no "patch up the hole in the titanic and keep cruising" option.
The mods should just fight in a free for all to the death. Last man standing makes the decision.
Who suggested it in the first place cuz I’m just building off what someone said. I even gave picks for keepers
