This the most authentic Facepunch thread in ages. The Facepunch spirit is still ripe my friends.
And Sosig was remodded why?!?!
His work is more valued than his opinions. This was already talked about in the forums discussions thread
Second Chance
Theres a thread on it https://forum.facepunch.com/general/bvxdd/Forum-Discussion-VIII-Five-Stages-of-Grief-Edition/2/#postcwzpkk
This conversation has the answer to that. It was previously posted in the thread 23/05/2019 Clovis @Hezzy can we speak about the demodding So..
And that's dumb. I appreciate the fact that he fields the Rust hordes but he's not the only person that is willing or able to do that. Moderating is a job and at any job you could be the star worker but if you went around spouting transphobic shit you'd get fired all the same.
How did you get access to mod chat lmao
Simply going by the screenshots @Jammymanrock posted it, certainly seems different from transphobia to me.
Hezzy posted the logs himself.
Ya it was just posted a few pages back. No expert infiltration work here.
All the more reason it was rigged tbh
Rules are made to be ignored when it suits you. Posters get banned for infringement of the rules but moderators can shitpost, insult people both on the forum and in the discord server, derail threads (a regular poster will get banned for 'off-topic'), have the most repulsive views they pass off as shitposts (it shouldn't matter whether they are shitposts or not) and still we have to sit back and watch as the moderators seem perplexed that the community are losing faith in them,. Knockout is guaranteed to die if we continue to take this aloof attitude of shrugging whenever a moderator acts out of line, because just take a look at some of the posts in this thread: people are getting sick of it. And after this thread is there seriously going to be even one poster that comes out with 'eh, the mods haven't done anything too problematic'. They can straight up just skip past all rules and can be as senseless and tactless as their heart desires, and the response to being criticised are unfunny zingers and the other mods pretending it never happened or isn't as bad as it looks. How far can we stretch excuses before they become blatant veneers for not wanting to take responsibility for shit?
Forum Discussion VIII Are you trying to beat a dead horse?
Please now move anything off topic to the forum discussions. Yes I am guilty too of moving offtopic
Aside from the mod talk it's no surprise that Garry would pop in after all these months of being silent to ask about getting rid of FP again, make an epib zinger, then leave to possibly watch the thread go at each other's throats and come back a couple months later to post. When it comes to seeing how Garry acts when it comes to his previous actions towards the community and the site in general I've lost respect for him due to him not being able to take criticism at all, especially when he decided to ban people over his attempt at getting rid of megathreads. Despite that I think FP should stay because it's the one place I think is the most moderate in terms of its community when compared to other forums, as well as having a bunch of cool members on it. It would be nice to see actual improvements to the site, but seeing how Garry is that p much makes it a pipe dream. Even with all that in mind I'll still stay on FP til the day it actually does shut down.
If you are unfamiliar with the situation or still don't understand why things are the way they are I would highly suggest clicking the link. What happened with sosig is already explained in detail there, and that is also where that conversation should be taking place.
Fuck maybe we all just have really bad cases of Stockholm Syndrome when it comes to this place.

Shitty mods IS part of the topic.
Just want to know if there’s any viable option where fp lives in this scenario.
I don't know if you really expect that we'll read through that and be like "oh yeah okay he said sorry situation neutralized" or if the discussion will be any different there than it is here.
In Rust, you can report hackers by pressing F7. If you've linked your FP account with your Rust account, when EAC bans someone you reported, you get a forum notification about it.
About that. Inacio said in knockout's development thread that he was gonna poke at garry and let him know about the progress. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1303/5eaa638b-6c88-41fb-8747-eaf726276607/firefox_2019-06-06_18-12-20.png So i feel like this thread is more about gauging interest instead of making a rash decision based on what one person says (which if you see this garry thank you for asking in advance this time <3)
Doesn't look like it
I don't browse the KO development thread very much so I didn't know/think of that. My B.
I never thought of Knockout as an attempted coup, but instead a necessary backup plan due to the threat of FP's disappearance and Garry's silence. A migration announcement would've been a necessary step had FP actually vanished without a trace. That said, I think the mods pulled the trigger too early. FP going down was scary, but any attempt to migrate should've waited to see if the downtime would actually last. A couple days' wait would've been better, rather than a couple of hours. I'm not particularly pleased with what this thread has revealed about the mods' behavior, particularly some of those mean-spirited shitposts. Between that and the community's general hesitance to move, I think it would be safer Garry left the forums up for the time being. The open-source development approach would be neat. It would also be a great chance to let the community pick new mods/retain the best old ones, if this thread is any indication of how frustrated everyone feels toward the current mod team. (I'm definitely not saying that because it might give me the chance to apply to be a mod. Perish the thought!) Of course, this is Garry we're talking about. We have no way to know if the question posed in the OP is even an actual question. It could be a legitimate request for input on how we should tackle FP's future, or a veiled warning that the forum is about to shut down. You have valid reasons for wanting to move on, Garry, but I and many others would really appreciate it if you could just level with us for once and say if keeping FP/making development open-source is actually an option at the moment.
I think you just misworded your previous post before this one. You were talking about open source when what garry mentioned on his blog was setting up a frontend that accepts pull requests. (so essentially the best of both worlds. No leaking of integral facepunch api, but the community gets to push forward devlopement on their own terms) Future I’m still considering what to do with the forums. Whatever I decide won’t happen overnight. I’m not just going to switch them off. It’ll happen early next year. If the forums exist they need to be agile and evolving. I can’t be the chokepoint there, so there needs to be a way to let the developers in the community improve it themselves. I’m leaning towards making the front-end site a SPA with a websocket connection and accepting pull requests to it. We could COORS localhost so people can develop locally but with the live data, and any legit community alternatives could also be COORS’d. That’d make the backend the only chokepoint – which is a tiny part of it. (also highly recommend reading all of it)
Most people did read through it and did, and it pretty much gave you and everyone else insight as to how we handled the situation. Hezzy was about as transparent as he could be on the topic short of posting the whole convo log, something that has now been posted in this thread. All of the information was laid out, everything that happened around it was shown and explained, and most of the people who participated in that thread accepted how it was handled. If you don't agree with how it was handled that's completely acceptable, but you have to understand that no matter what decision we made people would be unhappy with it.
Ultimately, a Facepunch in stasis may be a better choice to make then a fractured Knockout receiving updates. I think the forums are fine as is, and of they can be kept in this state and guarantee our security, I see no reason to move. Old post, ignore, Just posting this because it's stuck in my mobile posting box lol
