I personally guarantee you - I'd toxx if it they still meant anything at all - that Garry will never do anything about the backend situation. Garry is giving us a choice because he likes to be abrasive and rile the community up, which is exactly what happened here precisely due to his poor wording in the OP. He has no plans to come back to us and is actively disinterested in the drama that has been caused today.
Even if this website is still left going, it will be left going down a path of slow and sad death. You can argue that the same will happen for knockout, but at least there is a chance there that objectively doesn't exist on facepunch.
I understand everyone being hesitant to move over, but if we don't try then the death of the community will be because of those who refused to try, not any other circumstance.

Most users are also getting older and as a result are posting less as life gets busier. With nothing to attract new users activity in general will die down and things will get stale quickly

I'm not completely against KO at all but some of these mods are complete shit and would only guarantee KO crashing and burning.
I would love to see FP stay alive and improved, but if it goes out I wouldnt mind giving KO a shot. But I doubt it'll last even a month at this rate.

Sorry, but I don't trust someone that write "kys fag" or make fun of anyone that critize him on Discord. I also can't trust the people that planned secretly for months how move the community behind our backs while they still are moderators here, or how they remoded someone even if we disagree with it. Call it as you want, a lot of us simply don't trust them anymore. As a web developer I admired what Inacio is doing in Knockout, put I don't trust him as a leader or mod of this community.
I honestly don't have much experience posting here, but I'd like to throw in my two cents as someone from another videogame-centric community forum that went through a very similar situation (dying community, apathetic/abrasive administrator, etc).
I honestly think you guy's best bet is just riding out this website for however long it has left. Even provided that you switch to Knockout, do you honestly think the same slow decline won't happen there that's happening here? The only thing that'll happen by switching to Knockout is that in addition to the slow decline in population, you'll have to deal with a sudden mass exodus of users who would just prefer to leave the community altogether rather than make the switch. The lack of any feasible way to draw in new users only amplifies the consequences of this, as it almost guarantees that any loss in population would be permanent.
Knockout is fine as a last resort in case of a decision to shut down the forums being made by Garry. In that case, a redirect from this website to Knockout would probably be the way to go. But until then, it doesn't seem to be the better option to me.

"Knockout wouldn't be the same because the entire community wouldn't switch!" everyone says, even though Knockout would indeed be quite similar if everyone would just stop worrying about what everyone else might do and...just switched. It creates a self-fulfilling prophesy in which nobody wants to try Knockout because they don't think anybody else would, either.

I agree that the KO staff need a shakeup and the KO staff need a professional standard but these guys are building KO out of a labor of love. I'm not expecting professionalism from something like that.
Facepunch is the official extension of an actual business and its employees routinely shitpost in threads and berate users for questioning them. Even on paper, FP is a bigger shitstorm; it gets a pass though because of how old it is which is ridiculous because the FP staff should know better. They're still posting as badly as Max did when he was working at FPStudios.
