You know this is people mocking the edgy behavior that's been demonstrated right? We need to move on and get past it. Fucking yikes.
Ill be honest, this isn't a very good look for the new groundskeepers
I don't think the forums should be shut down. But it is in sort of a stand-still or smth., certain features not functioning like notifications for smartphones, certain bugs and glitches and you know, just some general stuff. It's a perfectly good community, originally based on a "niche" community that is mostly Gmod/Half-Life-fans (best people overall), but ultimately also a rather all-inclusive and welcoming community because evidently (and obviously) the users share other video game and other interests that connect them too, thus creating a perfectly good "old-schoolish" forum-type community that can stay pretty much as is. At the time of posting there are roughly 2500 online users, and more average users can easily be attracted through old and new users, through a finalized version of the forum with working features, and that's about it..? And as far as I know, Garry, you continue to develop stuff, and what you created here is pretty noteworthy, do you not want it to remain active?
The moderators that have done that and anyone else that supported the most blatant attempt at a coup should be demodded, and new mods should be instated that are not affiliated with Knockout. Those actions are completely unacceptable, mods should be unbiased, and yet like you said, killing of the FP discord, removing rules from every single subforums, that is not appropriate mod behavior, and if it was anyone else doing it they would've lost their position long ago. it's like some form of clique has formed with the current moderatorship.
Was Inacio even the person behind the fucking """coup""" anyway? When it was all going down I was under the impression that he really didn't want it to be like that, and it was mostly some small number of other mods' ideas, of which I won't name. Purely sympathetically speaking, not to justify but just to understand, I see him being incredibly stressed out by all this especially with the near-constant breathing screaming down his neck. It's hard for anyone to be fully equipped and qualified to handle all of that by themselves. Maybe an actual PR team would do Knockout good, because it's not like Facepunch has one either and boy that's reared its ugly head in recent times... It's a rocky start but I still have faith. There's people in it who really care, despite all the stress, and aren't just throwing their papers into the air and yelling "I QUIT." In regards to FP itself though, I really hate to say this, but, I'm 70% certain it's a dead-end. Sure, you can restart development and fix bugs, put features in, and all that nice shit, but that seems to be only 3/4ths of the complaints. Mod issues, community issues, and especially communication issues can kill something just as much as software-level neglect. And I think for as long as those issues aren't worked out, we're heading for an even bigger dumpster fire anyway. I love y'all, but more's gotta change to save this than just slapping ones keyboard to spit out site code, I think. But this is just how I see it. For all I know I could be looking through my asshole.
Why not? They should be named and held accountable for their actions
One person who wasn't Inacio initiated it without any discussion and someone else started removing all stickied threads for some reason. It was definitely not something the majority of us wanted. Locking down the FP discord was also not something we wanted, but we had no authority over that.
Then the person and anyone else that supported it should not be moderators of Knockout, if they went behind your back to initiate a coup, what other activities do you think they would do without informing you on your very own website? I have no faith in the current moderators for KO, They should be voted from the community by the community that moves to Knockout, not just given moderator because "they were mods on FP"
I'm not here to be a catalyst for shit-slinging, I'm just here to give my thoughts about what I think should happen in a totally neutral manner. I don't like pointing fingers at specific people when I feel that it's an issue that way, way more than just the obvious suspects have a part in, and should really come together in a respectful and civil manner to resolve rather than just get frustrated and split apart and hate each other over. I don't like to see fighting. After spending so much of my life on these forums through thick and thin and my own personal arrogance and stupidity, it's like watching family fight. It hurts. I know I probably sound melodramatic over this but I'm serious. I don't want blame shifted around, thrown around, or really pinned on any one person, or anything like that. I want everything to just be cool and good and peaceful. That's all. That's just really all I want out of this.
And iirc, mods on FP aren't even voted in by the community, it's all a joke, the only way to get mod is to know people that already are and ask with their support to be made one.

Garry is alive? I thought he had been carried off by ants?
I don't know how web dev works but could you maybe just open up FP's hood and try to do a quick overview of just how hard it would be to fix things up?
If you honestly play the coup card, you have to assume garry is not same guy that demodded hezzy over a minecraft subforum. No bullshit is allowed past him. so get your thinking caps out for once please.
i don't even have to open up the boot to tell you it's totally fucking fucked mate, big time

Garry hasn't appeared active on the forums ever since he said he was considering on shutting them down
I love this Forum and I'll be here as long as it remains open; but if your heart isn't in it to maintain the site anymore, at least try to give it a proper sendoff. I have an account on Knockout as well and I'm very Pro-Knockout, but it's still not a replacement for Facepunch yet for many and the community just hasn't accepted Knockout at the same level. Maybe it's partially awareness of the site's existence so if Facepunch is fated to go down, redirecting member's attention there in some sort of official capacity might help.
Ever since the initial "coup" I've just been trying to keep all information out in the open.
hol up, he is?
I mean, I haven’t seen him post in any threads for a while now, so it definitely seems like he’s MIA.
Just shut them both down, problem solved.
He's been working on JB3 mostly, he's not actually missing.
It's rather telling the only posts by garry on the matter of the forums fate have been entirely emotionally attached, with no serious attempt to actually engage in conversation with anybody besides real hilarious zingers such as this gem
Whatever happened on that day I was at work making the finest fucking ice creams ever at the movies and y'all cam have one on me. Even have an alibi too.
I kinda slept through most it then only came back right at the end and saw all the conflict and the general muddling in the mod chat. It was pretty messy.
please garry knockout hasn't even really started and it's already a shitshow we need you babe
At this rate I'll have to make that knockoff ProBoards joke forum for real For god's sake, if we want to stay together there needs to be some joint discussion between us and Garry to figure out something that will work for everyone, get your shit together hentai gasmask enthusiasts
Facepunch moving to newpunch ended up losing what, half of its old users? what makes you so certain that moving to a different forum wont whittle down whats left of the community even more? There are people that consider Facepunch home as well, some vested so much into the forums and it's history that they will not move to an alternative, the community will stagnate and die when the moderators that are supposed to inspire confidence and trust are trying to undermine it by aggressively pushing for an alternative that is still a work in progress, if you must work on an alternative work with those passionate to make a successor and when the time comes for the facepunch forums then push for it. Those stickies rules have been up there for a long time, and as the current modship (Hezzy primarily) began an aggresive push to move to KO, suddenly they were unstickied and the reason being: "ナシオ🗻大🧠Today at 12:19 PM: @Flak i was the one to remove the stickied threads because i thought that 4 sticky threads looked ugly" That is a reason the community should believe as valid? that is the weakest reason I've heard and anyone else would be under the crosshairs for something like that. Change has to happen I agree, but that change isn't trying to cause a coup with the currents mods because you've all decided to jump ship, that is abandonment and that will cause the community to stagnate and die.
Again, not everyone was onboard with that. That was the actions of a few who were way over-eager for something.
