I agree, but the community should choose moderators that would succeed the ones that were demodded, and the community should hold the actions of the new moderators accountable by being allowed to vote to strip them when they've done unacceptable shit

Yes. Clovis was the only person I removed from the moderator team on Knockout.
Sosig was stripped of his moderator position - by me. I gave the moderators the opportunity to veto this decision because a lot of them complained in our moderator chat channel. After they decided to reinstate him, I resigned from my position. I can't in good conscious lead a team that holds those values.
To be honest, it wasn't intentionally malicious. We did what we thought was best to facilitate the movement of the community from one site to the other.
People don't get that Facepunch died when we moved away from vb4.
It's still the same forum I know, (I used to post on Oldpunch with another account), but that magic feeling is gone now.
I honestly don't care if we stick here or change to Knockout, the damage has already been done.
I will happily post on Knockout if we change.
Portraying and seeing yourself having perms on that forum as some sort of "coup" both feels a bit over the top and unneedingly serious. I don't know what way you view this forum, but it really seems like it'd be a problem to have such a view of internet forums, both to you and others.

If we are now voicing our opinions, a lot of mods have a few problems and made quite a lot of mistakes in the past/present. All I can blame it on is the process in which new mods were accepted aka "just PM me and I'll make you a mod." Seems like there was no proper debate of the candidates, unless there indeed was. Then that's fine.

Fuck I'm late on the draw here, Garry probably won't even seen this but whatever. While I'm glad Knockout exists as an alternative for if shit hits the fan, I don't want to see this place go. Lots of us don't. I would rather stay here because this is essentially internet home.

Look. There was no coup. That's basically Alex Jones level bullshit at this point.
Here's what actually happened; Garry wanted to shut down the forums, and Inacio wanted a new project for his web dev portfolio, because he's trying to get real big boy jobs. That's how Knockout started. To provide a plan B just in case Garry actually decided to shut the place down, and if he didn't, well it looked good on the portfolio.
And then Azure exploded. Just as Azure often has these past few months, and just as Cloudflare before it did for years. And that's when the mod team decided to start telling everyone "hey guys, plan B is Knockout".
But there was a problem. Knockout wasn't done yet. Knockout still isn't done yet.

So naturally, when Facepunch came back from Azure shitting itself, the mod team decided to put up more signs saying "hey if that happens again Knockout is over here", but because so many of you started believing Inacio hacked Garry's Azure account to shut down FP and force you all over or whatever it is y'all believe here now, you're over here in this shithouse of a thread trying to demand Garry dedicate all of his time to something that doesn't even pay his bills, just because you don't like something that isn't even done yet.
I'm sure there's parts of this that need to be fact checked or reworded but I just looked at the clock after composing the above and I'm running late for work, so I'll just take whatever boxes and revise myself later.

My loyalty is with the community that has been built from this forum. I shall follow it wherever it goes. FP or KOC. However recent events have had me wondering if KOC will actually take over FP and unfortunately that community has been split.
I've kept most of my actual opinion in my head because after a long ask time you don't make decisions easily and I wanted to play the long game.
To call me a liar when you have no idea of my own opinion is an insult so let me tell you something.
I stand with both because of this fucking community.
I honestly thought that the events were an absolute shitshow.
You did the right thing to lock the discord until Garry knew what to do.
I want FP to stay alive for a little bit longer so KO can be ready because I want KO to be the future but I also want the best resolution for everyone because I am apart of his community I have helped care for and participated in.
But I am having doubts and I'd like some fucking reassurances and an affirmation that the communication and public relations between both mods and users going to be managed better and that there would be a leader and a voice.
That left when you decided to resign from both FP and KO and honestly my thoughts and opinions dropped significantly.
I get you have a life and I get you wanted to focus on your career but you were the only user on both KO and FP that could legitimately do this job right. I don't know anyone who can make that same assurance.
I only stayed because you'd have your words and ways. Now? Fuck knows. But I'm not a liar and I am here for both communities.
I would have made my opinion clear and on the day had I not been so tied up with work. I would have made a huge fuss about it if I didn't think I had no trust.
I deeply understand your sentiment, regret or following out of peer pressure is a real thing and it sucks when people fall to it because they feel as if there's no other option, or it has to be the best way to do it.
Personally I'd be willing to give everyone a second chance and see how things pan out.
But I'm not the majority by far, and this is the point of letting the community decide. I would hope for them to forgive some as well, we're all only human and it all could be far worse, but I also deeply understand their sentiments about damages in trust, and being irked by the apparent fact that one hand doesn't know what the other is doing.
I'm just praying for a peaceful solution. I've been at the epicenter of far too many longstanding communities ripping themselves apart from within very, very similarly to what's happening now, and I'm very much sick of it.

i was for KO for a long time, but if you think even "playing along" with /b/-tier shitposting is fine when you are LEADING a community is dumb. If this is how this is going to be I don't know if I really want to use the site, even if garry kills FP.

Regardless of the shitpostery of the Knockout devs, I'm still keeping my eye on it because this forum's existence is banked entirely on the whims of a man who can't take criticism or bother to read more than a line before coming to a half-cocked conclusion about how everyone hates what he's done and therefore he should just nuke it all. Knockout has some work that needs done PR-wise, but Facepunch is dangling over a cliff edge, and Garry is flippant, arrogant, and more than happy to let it all die because someone dared critique him.

I've been here since 2016 and lurk daily. Don't let it die.
This just proves the current moderators are biased, a mod was stripped of his position after the community had seen his unacceptable behavior, complaints were made in the private moderator chat channel, you chose to let them have the final say and eventually vetoed your decision, if I recall only you and one other mod were against it. This isn't acceptable, this just only serves to solidify that as long as your fellow mods like you, they will do everything they can to have you reinstated to your position, regardless of what the community thinks, and when the community asks for accountability, they would deflate, ignore, and attempt to think of reasons, when they are placed under the spotlight.
The community must have the power to have the final say, not only to strip rank, but to instate. Not a small group of people where biases will form eventually over time.

Inacio isn't that much better handling criticism lately, people post legit critique in his thread and he just tries to ridicule it in his discord, he doesn't even have the balls to do it upfront with many posters.
from reading this thread and seeing how the mods are actually interacting with each other and the users i'm inclined to not believe this
