Another change, if and when we allow the community to vote for moderators, is to increase transparency between moderators and the community even further, I would reckon a locked section of the discord where people can see decisions being made between mods, but non mods not being allowed to post.
if you're staring down a 10 ton weight that might drop on you and smush you and your friends at any time, and you've been working on building a new house that isn't right under the 10 ton weight, and all of a sudden that 10 ton weight drops a little bit, not enough to actually smush you, but enough to give you a good scare
wouldn't it make sense to say "hey guys, look we don't have to stay in this house, i just finished a new house it's right over there not directly under the 10 ton weight"?
i'm not even touching the moderator aspects of the grievances, i'm just talking about the cutover aspects
Wouldn't really work in practise as a lot of mod discussion is private and has to be behind closed doors, the channel would barely get used.
Even before all this I was skeptical of KO because I’m not sure I trust someone in a long community coming out with a new replacement forum they’ve made with their own agendas.
Because admittedly it sounds like something my worst self would try. Like, part of me feels jealous I’m not doing it in ways that I know I’d oppose myself in. It kind of is like a coup. I was hesitant to move immediately questioning the intentions of this and what core ideals could change, I’d prefer not to move at all. Since then I’ve heard things that make me think I’m onto something being uncertain of integrity, most of all in the impartiality aspect.

fact of the matter is i don't think garry ever plans on working on newpunch again.

Attempts towards transparency need to be made somehow, voting moderators and voting them out is how the community can chose should be because they can see their actions, I agree that certain issues when it involves to moderating the community have to be kept private, but moderators and their actions should be more transparent, especially in a community elected environment. Particularly any and all actions that can affect the community as a whole

I've not properly moved over to KO yet but, not gonna lie, I have no faith when this thread has wonderfully shown than there is zero transparency with the mod team & they are proving themselves to be afraid of taking responsibility for their short-sighted decisions, and some are going even further and showing themselves to be absolutely malicious. Somehow, almost paradoxically, there is both a mix of 'we'll lie to save our own personal image at the cost of other mods' & then there's this weird attempt at a united front by refusing to acknowledge or address community criticism of each other. And these are the people we're expected to trust to lead a forum.

There is likely a lot of touchy stuff and random bullshittery between it all that isn't relevant to the topic, if its still anything like it was last year.
Plus it was split between both the KO discord and FP discord, I've only seen half of the discussion but there was a lot of discussion.

With the way Sosig's actions were, in discord that I assume werent private? I'm pretty sure the community should be allowed to see the logs as they are, even Hezzy just now said he agrees to it, especially when the trust and confidence of the current mods isn't so great currently.

I'm just going off previous mentions and experience, like I said I've only seen what happened from the KO discord side as I'm not a FP mod any more.
I'm going to do what I can to at least implement this. I want KOC to succeed if it has to, I want FP to prosper if it can.
I'm making an attempt to speak with garry so I can at least try to implement this there as well, but it's already a thing I have made for the KOC discord.
